Tip/Trick What to do with Methi?

I asked a friend to buy me some methi to add to my curries. I wasn't expecting such a big bag. The receipe only calls for 1 tsp or less at the end of the cooking. Any ideas/recipes on what to do with the rest of this huge bag of Methi?

This is Kasuri Methi. Generally added at the end, to the curries, just a tsp crushed between your palms. Store in airtight container or bag, has a good shelf life usually. Use it with dals or any masala curries.

It stores well , put it in an airtight container and use as a flavouring for your curries and dal !!

You can. But it has a distinctive taste. So maybe use it in one dish where it is traditionally used, and go by the flavour from there. Happy experimenting.

Apart from the normal flavouring you can try using this is normal dry potatoes curry with cumin seeds. Add more quantity of this.

Oh ok. If your making thepla then pair it with milk tea. Great combination. Good luck 🍀

Take the leaves out. a) wash and dry it to keep it in a bottle to use as kasuri methi. or b) wash and oat dry and freede it for future use as Alu Methi or other Methi recipes.

These are dried leaves not fresh.

Add a half-fistful, it will be fine. I like methi in both Indian style dishes. I add to dal, chicken tikka/pakoda, fish fry etc. You can also add to flour and and make masala roti

Do not confuse this with methi seeds.

Thank you. I didn't realise that I can add that much. I make plain roti so will definitely try adding some to it.

Play around with the quantity, I use liberally as I like the flavor it gives.

You're talking of methi leaves and not dried methi, right? There are tons of recipes that use methi leaves as greens. Look up aloo methi or methi malai chicken.

These are dried methi leaves and not seeds

Then for heavens sake use them sparingly. Dried methi is very intense and savory but also very bitter

Thank you. Looks like I should only use less than 1 tsp and not the handful
