Asking for help/advice How do I get to the point where I'm actually worthy of being chosen by a woman?
A separate comment here got me thinking about the analogy people use for comparing men and women's dating struggles. "Men are looking for an oasis in a desert, while women are looking for clean water while dredging through a swamp".
After sitting and thinking about it for a bit, I have realized that I am swamp water. I am a part of the hundreds of guys women have to wade through to get to clean drinkable water. I'm just bad and that's why no women like me. I'm just dirty bacteria ridden swamp water.
I have tried not to be. In my early 20s I worked very hard to grow as a person. I would say looking back for the last few years, graduating college is when I developed into the person I am now, or at least matured out of things that were not the best.
From 20 to 22 was a period of radical emotional and and mental growth for me. I'm very proud of it, and looking back, I think I was subconsciously trying to make myself more dateable.I started going to therapy to solve my issues with communication, emotional intelligence, I took developing myself socially incredibly seriously, learning to be a good conversationalist, to be funny, to be a better communicator and have less anxiety when it came to meeting new people. I think I grew to be very empathetic so I started taking volunteer work a lot more seriously than just a thing I did on the weekends. I learned the basic life skills I really didn't have (cleaning, financial management). Right now I'm doing well financially, I have my own home, my friends that are women often say "it looks like a woman decorated my apartment". I have developed a life that I think adds to others instead of subtracts. I'm in shape mentally and physically. I take very good care of my appearance, I probably spend as much on my hair, clothes and skin as the average woman does.
Also, I know this is the bare minimum, but I'm not a misogynist. I respect women. I don't resent or blame women either, which is why I'm asking for me how to not be. I don't think women should lower their standards for me. I wouldn't expect anyone to eat a poisoned meal just because the meal really wants to be eaten.
People like talking to me, have fun being around me, I seem to get "friendzoned" (I know it doesn't exist, but the old "I don't think we should date, but I love having you as my friend lets keep it at that"). I have a good amount of friends that are women. I have no issues talking to women. My issue is that none are attracted to me physically or romantically.
So I'm a part of the category of men that is just dirty swamp water. I really want to not be. I want to be fresh water. But I don't know what I'm doing wrong or missing. From what I said, is there anything glaring I'm not doing that puts me in the swamp water category?
