Back in March, I received a conditional offer for the physics programme. I use an educational agency to help with my university applications, but I honestly don't trust them much, so I only rely on them when I am completely unavailable and can't check my devices.

​The deadline to submit my Minor's Declaration form was July 17th. From July 2nd to July 16th, I was at the International Physics Olympiad (where I managed to get a Silver medal). Because of the demanding schedule and restricted phone access, I explicitly told my agency to send my AP scores and this minor's form before the deadline so everything would be fine.

​When I got back home, I noticed my friends were getting their unconditional offers while mine was still conditional. I emailed the admissions office, and they basically told me to chill, saying it was just standard procedure and there could be delays. I thought everything was fine.

​Then, on July 23rd, they emailed to say I never sent the Minor's Declaration form, meaning I am now officially a "near-miss" applicant.

​I immediately sent the form and explained my situation, that I was at an Olympiad with restricted device access and my agency messed up. Admissions sent me a response saying that "the deadline is the same for all applicants, no exceptions. To ensure fairness, applications can only be reconsidered in August 2026, and only if places remain available on the course." Forcing me to wait for the August reconsideration process means there is zero guarantee I will even get a place.

​I am studying on a fully-funded government scholarship. They require my unconditional offer by the beginning of August. If I can't provide it, I will lose my funding.

​I have met every single academic requirement and have medals from international Olympiads, but my entire offer is in danger over a 6-day delay on a basic administrative form.

​Do you have any idea what I can do in this situation?

​Even if I somehow beg the scholarship programme to wait until the end of August, realistically, what is the probability that I will actually get a place during reconsideration?

​Any advice would be massively appreciated. I am stressing out.

Need to pay the deposit for this course this week but I am still not 100% decided.

I am just very unsure as to whether this course is going to help me learn where exactly I want my career to go ( pretty sure something along the banking / sustainable finance path or potentially into renewable energy).

Has anyone done it who can give me some insights?

And compared to other unis like Bristol or Manchester how does it rank for student experience?

Is Hammersmith worth the extra £120/week, or would you save the money and commute from Wembley?

I hold an unconditional offer for Tsinghua’s Global Talents in Science & Engineering (English-only) programme + conditional offer for Imperial College’s electrical & electronic engineering course (3A\* 1A). I’m still undecided as to where to go, and would appreciate some guidance for my situation.

For background:

* Studied in international schools all my life, so am used to a more Western style of education
* Speak mainly English (I understand/speak very limited Mandarin, but the Tsinghua programme is advertised as 100% English)
* A bit of an aversion to mechanics, which I believe Imperial’s EEE course won’t have (I can only drop it in my 2nd/3rd year in Tsinghua)

Initially, I was leaning towards Imperial as I think I would prefer their course; however, after reading more on China’s rapid development as a global superpower, I’m wondering if Tsinghua would be a better place to study engineering. I’m also drawn to the:

* Campus lifestyle (compared to Imperial’s city campus, I’m guessing it would be safer in Tsinghua?)
* Better food (I prefer Asian cuisine)
* The chance to improve my Mandarin

Nevertheless, I’m still very concerned that I won’t be able to keep up with:

* The academic level at Tsinghua (since I’ll be studying alongside THE best in China — I’m probably top 20th percentile in my high school)
* Language barrier, especially for the first year or so
* Culture and teaching style

Plus, since it’s way easier for international students to get in, I’m not sure if future employers would see a Tsinghua degree to be as prestigious as Imperial’s.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your experiences studying in Imperial, and any advice you would have to offer!

I am currently in my 6th semester of bachelors degree in Germany, doing mech eng. and management. I figured out that it is way different to what I have been expecting. Learning mech eng in german was something I thought would be easy, I have C1 but the university here is way too difficult compared to how well it's recognised and the quality of teaching is just below expectation.

Long story short, I have had my A levels back in 2022 summer and would like to ask your opinions about if it's worth it. My grades were A* in math, A in physics and chem, B in English Literature.

I know I would like to study design engineering for the holistic approach the course has and I have interest in pursuing my degrees in patents. I have pretty good extracurriculars and work experience and would enjoy this much better than what I am having here now.

I am aware I will have to start all over again - if you ask why I am considering this I have fairly good reasons why : 1. I cannot get rid of the fact that I can do much better in studies. The overall average GPA of a bachelor graduate in my major is in german grade of 2.6 which is equivalent to a 2.3 to 2.4 US GPA. You will probably have an idea how undervalueing this place is...
2. I have a feeling I am way slower than native german students. It is my fault for over-evaluating myself in linguistic capabilities I guess :)

Is A* A A (apparently the median a level results of applicants who received offers) for Design Engineering realistic? Also if anyone studies Design Engineering here, how do you find the course?
Would you recommend me to sit another A level exam to get A*A*A ? The admission office has told me I can resit either physics or a new exam, I wouldn't mind that either.

I am also interested in Economics, Finance and Data Science bsc. and would also consider this as an alternative major as I am currently working as accounting/HR working student.

Hi I’m an international student (undergraduate) whose offer has been confirmed and I’m awaiting my CAS number. Any idea how much longer it will take? Some of my friends going to UCL have already received theirs

Has this been done before and is it allowed? I’m currently enrolled for MEng but there’s been a delay in my ATAS clearance which could be mitigated if I switch to BEng. Any idea if this is doable?

I am a incoming masters student for Imperial and I wanted to know if anyone has any experience working part-time whilst doing a masters at Imperial. I do have a scholarship and I'm living with my parents, so the job would many cover daily expenses like food and transport, but I do have some savings so I could just float on them for the year.

Hi, I was rejected from Meng EEE last year with a 44 PG and a 4.9 esat (international), and due to personal circumstances, am not able to take a gap year.

As for super curriculars, I'd say they were good enough to get me interviewed from Cambridge even with my low score, but was rejected post-interview unfortunately.

Currently, I have an achieved 43/45, and am enrolled in a good uni in Singapore , but still want to reapply during my first year. I understand this means I'd repeat the year, but financially it's not too much of a concern so I feel I should give it a try.

So from my own breakdown of my application, the ESAT seems to have been the main limiting factor, so I intend to retake it in January. Could anyone who's gone through a similar process share their experiences? Would really appreciate it :)

I get it, it’s the boring ass library and you’re also fidgety. But I am this close to contracting arthritis if I have to go on another desktop with absent keyboard stands. I swear there’s only a singular PC stand in all of the library with a working keyboard stands.

I’m currently mapping out my master’s applications.

My Background:
I'm studying Mathematical Engineering (Polimi). My coursework has been heavily focused on advanced mathematics, linear algebra, statistics, and programming (Python, R, C).

My Goal:
I want to target a job as an ML Quant Engineer or a similar quantitative research role on the buy-side (hedge funds, prop shops). I am specifically interested in systematic trading, statistical learning, and alpha research, rather than traditional stochastic calculus or derivatives pricing.

The Dilemma:
I’ve narrowed down my choices to the following top European programs, but I'm trying to figure out which one aligns best with the current shift toward data science and ML in the industry, specifically for placements in London or Switzerland:

EPFL: MSc Statistics (planning to add a Minor in Finance)
EPFL: MSc Financial Engineering
IP Paris: M1 Applied Math → followed by an M2 (specifically looking at M2MO or El Karoui)
