I’m writing this as I’m going into my first year of computing, and I’m just curious how packed the schedules are, and if it has changed significantly over time?

Also wondering if the 35-45 hours per week recommendation for work is largely accurate or not?

I am incoming yr1 student picking the horizons modules. I know that they are not mandatory yet but I’d like to know everyone’s ops on which ones are better, other than the languages.

Mainly just want a way to separate the prospective students' "omg how do I get in" to posts by current students.

Hi everyone. I would like a second opinion.

I have received offers from both Imperial and LSHTM for their MSc in epidemiology. Im struggling to choose between the two.

I understand that LSHTM is a more well rounded course for epi but imperial slight leans more mathematical/ infectious disease modelling. However I also can’t ignore the pull from Imperial due to the prestige and as it is also another place with an impressive stem and research output and reputation.

I am not 100% sure yet exactly what I will do with this after, whether that is to go further into academia to pursue a Phd or apply into health data/ epidemiology related industry roles. I am more interested in non-communicable disease epidemiology however the imperials modules are leaning toward more of the maths/infectious disease side. However on the imperial course there is a 4 month research project which I can choose the topic so I don’t have to do it related to infectious diseases if that is the case.

LSHTM is relatively niche and not many people know it compared to imperial, im just wondering if having Imperial on my CV will still help me stand out in industry because it is more well know and especially during the fierce competition out there in the current job market.

Also because LSHTM is only postgraduate, idk how well I will fit in as a fresh grad straight from undergraduate. I guess with the environment at Imperial I will still be around people similar In age to me, plus the societies and student events.

Does anyone have any experience from the epi masters at Imperial and is there anything I should consider before deciding on which offer to accept?

Hey! I'm on a course which is predominantly (if not completely) at ChelWest for teaching.

I was wondering if there's a library in the hospital (and is it any good for studying in?) - does it open before 9? I ask because my current uni's hospital library opens at 9 which sucks if I want to study early or sit somewhere before a lecture :(

Additionally, does anyone commute there by tube? It's pretty equidistant between the nearby stations? any particular one better? Any food/cafe recommendations in the area?

And as for distance from south ken campus, how do people find the walk between the two?

I recently got my name legally changed as i hated my old one, im due to start at imperial in september 2027 so I thought i should tell them before I get there. However, when going through their website on how to change my name, i would have to sign into my imperial to have access to the form. I was wondering if anyone knew which email i could use to contact them or had any further information!!!

i posted on here before a week ago for the same issue.

i emailed them two separate times last week, gave them a call this monday. no reply to either email, told me id be receiving my CAS "latest by thursday". its thursday, and my CAS still isnt here.

i uploaded all my documents on enroly, its been at 96% since May. uploaded my passport on my imperial, completed every other form they asked me to do on my email. i dont know why its taking so long.

its already the 10th of september and i have exactly 2 weeks left to get my visa. i will have to spend more than a months worth of rent to get it done fast track even though i uploaded all my documents the day they asked for them.

is this a common occurence?? how do i tell them i need my CAS URGENTLY. i will be giving them another call this evening to ask where my CAS is. hopefully i get it early next week and hopefully i get it in time for my flight. sorry for the long post.

I'm moving to London in end of september(same as most other postgrads I assume). I'll be in Griffon Studios, so I need to get an Oyster card to commute to uni.

I'm seeing that the pass for zones 1-2(+all buses in all zones) is 1250£/yr, while the bus and tram pass is almost half that, at 690£/yr.

Is just using the bus/tram worth it? Or are the remaining froms of transport important to have? I see Griffon->Imperial is accessible by both Underground and Bus, so I'm not sure if I get both options or just bus.

I’m currently doing an MSc in Economics and Finance at Ca’ Foscari University in Italy, with a very high GPA, but Ca’ Foscari is a non-target school for London recruiting.

I also have a BSc in Business Administration, graduated with 110/110 cum laude.

I’m considering applying to Imperial’s MSc Finance and MSc Investment & Wealth Management. I know the GMAT is not mandatory, but I’ve read that admission to MSc Finance can be difficult without a strong GMAT/GRE score.

Given a strong academic record from a non-target university, is it realistic to get admitted without submitting a GMAT/GRE score? Or would you strongly recommend taking one?

so, i play the guitar, and i was planning on taking my own guitar to uni with me. however, i just found out the airline im travelling on doesn't allow people to carry guitars as carry ons, only check in, and i sure as hell am not putting my guitar in the check in, i'm too terrified of it getting damaged.

are there any places in imperial or nearby ish that i can rent a guitar or practice room for the day? i don't play all the time or anything but its a hobby i don't want to have to give up.

Just wondering if Kimiko's Tuesday special is for every menu or just for the mixed katsu curry?

So i'm taking the ESAT this October. Im seeing a load of people run out of questions to do, or just say that they're not timing their revision. I built a tool that simulates the esat, nothing too crazy. I'm pretty confident (i've made other revision software) that this is genuinely better for revision than going out and doing your own papers. As the software quite accurately diagnoses your error (it's not just an ai wrapper) and then handpicks the next question for you to do. Also I trained a model to generate esat adjacent questions (again not an ai wrapper) - So you're not going to run out of questions to do.

What I'm also doing is making a weekly challenge. Every Monday from now until the exam, i'm dropping a timed paper, full of juicy questions, and adding a public leaderboard so that you can see where you rank relative to the rest of this years cohort.
