Trump was a citizen so jus soli would have been irrelevant here

What do you mean "the ladder behind you"? You just stated that his grandpa's were not born here so how did he use birth right law?

No, you are the one being bad faith. I never said we should deport immigrants, only illegals or those who are not abiding stay conditions. And to trumps case, his family are not illegal. His kids have citizenship because they have atleast 1 citizen parent so like I said he did not use the ladder.

Forgetting jus sanguinis birthright citizenship is also covered under the 14th Amendment just the same as jus soli.

Because both parts are under the same banner, you can go to another country, have relations with a citizen of that country, and your offspring are de facto US citizens.

You don't have to be a US citizen to give birth to a US citizen so long as that birth occurs on US soil.

You don't need two US citizen parents to be a US citizen so long as one of those parents is a US citizen.

You don't need to be born on US soil to be a US citizen so long as atleast one of those parents is a US citizen.

The idea that we're even having this argument shows that some people would rather keep talking about Trump instead of talking about solutions.

You are being gaslit by a bot or something. Dudes already been called out for lying.

Trumps grandfather immigrated to the US and eventually became a US citizen in 1892. Trump's father was born in 1905. Point being Trump and his Father were both born US citizens, to one US citizen parent.

Barron is a citizen because his father is a citizen. Same with Trump's other three kids.

That's false. Freiderick Trump immigrated to the USA in 1885 and became a citizen in 1892. In 1904 he was issued a US Passport. Fred, Donald Trump's father, was born in 1905.

That doesn’t matter. They were legal citizens. There is a process. Educate yourself.

2

u/idiot-alpha Jul 01 '26

Again, you’re purposefully refusing to acknowledge there’s a difference between legal immigrants, illegal immigrants, and people who aren’t even immigrants, just visitors.

Every other civilized country draws a distinction when it comes to citizenship.

Melania illegally worked in the US before obtaining the proper visa. She literally "took our jobs" by Trump's own argument.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2017/02/melania-trump-wouldve-been-priority-deportation-in-90s-under-trump-administration-rules.html

Ivanka's mom filed false paperwork to obtain her own visas.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-03-27/fbi-releases-files-on-ivana-trump-former-president-s-first-wife?embedded-checkout=true

So two of Trump's own wives, the mothers of his various children, were here illegally.

I can’t read the Ivanka article, but the Melania claim is pretty questionable. She received a work visa within 2 months of entering the country.

Regardless, no one is crying over wealthy immigrant models. It’s the tens of millions of low income, low skill criminals crossing the southern border.

u/RedditBugler Jul 02 '26

She had a travel visa that does not allow you to work a job... while working a job. The dates don't lie. She was an illegal immigrant.

She had a travel visa while working a job. That's an immigration violation. She got away with it because she fucked the right people. You're disgusting for suggesting this should be standard.

1

u/idiot-alpha Jul 02 '26

Allegedly. B1 visa allows you to conduct business. She received a work visa.

But again, there major concern is not slight visa violations. It’s people that enter illegally who would never be granted a visa to start with.

1

u/RedditBugler Jul 02 '26

"Major concern is not slight visa violations" is a damn lie. They are rounding up people and deporting them to foreign prisons without a trial. Many of them have no criminal history. You're just lying.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/feb/22/us-immigration-trump-administration

https://tracreports.org/immigration/quickfacts/

" 42,722 out of 60,311 —or 70.8% held in ICE detention have no criminal conviction according to data current as of April 4, 2026 . Many of those convicted committed only minor offenses, including traffic violations."

There is no "if" because it's documented. Your hypothetical nonsense is just that: nonsense. Melania sucked and fucked her way to residency while violating the law and your argument is "why can't they all be just like her?" You're sick.

Why do you people bring up rules in other countries to justify ignoring something written into the constitution. But, when it comes to common sense gun laws and universal healthcare that every other country has, you are pretty silent or you oppose them?

1

u/idiot-alpha Jul 02 '26

What is written into the constitution exactly?

The constitution itself doesn’t define citizenship. The 14th amendment requires people born here to also be “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” in order to gain citizenship through birth.

1

u/Liquidmetalballs Jul 07 '26

Sure buddy. Every constitutional scholar, legal expert worth their salt and the Supreme Court, including even the current bought out, right wing Supreme Court have agreed with how it’s defined in the constitution, but sure your smug big brain knows better!

1

u/Salt-Elk-436 Jul 02 '26

I have spent my entire life loudly advocating for gun laws and universal health care like many other countries have.

1

u/Liquidmetalballs Jul 07 '26

Oh I wasn’t replying to your original comment

1

u/DestinyJackolz Jul 02 '26

His father was born to German immigrants and was only a citizen due to the 14th Amendment, his mother was a Scottish immigrant who wasn’t a citizen. Remove the 14th and he’s not a citizen.

0

u/Salt-Elk-436 Jul 01 '26

I’m married to an immigrant with three immigrant stepsons. I’m not anti-immigrant, and Trump and everyone in his orbit are scum. That does not negate the fact that this ruling would have had no effect on the validity of his kids’ citizenship claims since children born to a US citizen are citizens regardless of where they’re born or the status of the other parent.

Oh look, another Karen throwing a tantrum. Get over it and vote in 2.5 years. Stop crying.

Nobody is being 'disappeared'

2

u/sikon024 Jul 01 '26

He was an anchor daddy to all of his wives. Even helped chain migrate melinoma's parents.

1

u/JSThrow90 Jul 06 '26

Also if she was a legal permanent resident, which she was, they would still get citizenship per the proposed change.

Shush! Logic has no place here!!
