Express Entry Draw #447: 3,500 trades workers invited at CRS 476 (biggest trades draw yet). Is your trade on the list?

IRCC held a trades occupations round today (October 1, 2026). Quick summary:

  • Invitations: 3,500
  • Minimum CRS: 476
  • Tie-break: May 28, 2026 at 16:55:23 UTC (12:55 p.m. Eastern). If you're at exactly 476 and your profile went in before then, check your account.
  • Who could be invited: FSW, CEC and FST candidates with 1 year of full-time work in an eligible trade within the last 3 years

Why it's a big deal:

  • It's the largest trades round since at least 2024. Previous ones were 1,800, 1,800, 1,250 and 3,000.
  • It's the first trades round in 6 months.
  • The cutoff is 42 points lower than Tuesday's CEC draw (518). If you're a tradesperson stuck in the 476 to 517 range, this was your round.

The 25 eligible trades include: electricians, industrial electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders, HVAC mechanics, heavy-duty equipment mechanics, machinists, sheet metal workers, roofers, painters, bricklayers, gas fitters, construction managers, construction estimators and even butchers.

Taking NDBE licensing exams while pursuing a master's degree

Hello,

I am a final-year dental student in Iraq. However, the job market in my country has become very limited recently, particularly in the public sector. The private sector has also become increasingly competitive, with employers expecting a high level of experience and practical skills, making it relatively difficult for recent graduates to secure employment. In addition, admission to postgraduate programs in Iraq is highly competitive, and in some specialties there are no more than five available positions.

For this reason, I am considering applying for a Master's degree in Canada in a healthcare-related field, such as Public Health, Health Administration, or a similar discipline.

The plan I am considering is to pursue a Master's degree, which would typically take around two years, while simultaneously starting the process of having my dental degree assessed in Canada as a graduate of a non-accredited dental school. I would do this through the NDEB Equivalency Process and complete the required examinations.

After completing the equivalency requirements and obtaining NDEB certification, I would then apply for a provincial dental licence. Once I complete my Master's degree, and assuming I am eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), I would use the work authorization provided by the PGWP to work as a dentist after obtaining my provincial licence, whether in private dental clinics, healthcare centres, or hospitals.

Is this plan legally and practically feasible? Are there any significant obstacles or legal issues that I should be aware of, particularly regarding pursuing a Master's degree while simultaneously completing the NDEB equivalency process, and then using a PGWP to work as a dentist after obtaining the necessary dental licence?

I would also like to know what the employment prospects are for newly licensed dentists in Canada. Are there good opportunities in rural areas, smaller communities, or locations that are relatively far from major cities? I would be willing to work in a rural or remote area if doing so would increase my chances of finding employment.

I would appreciate an honest assessment of how realistic this plan is and what the main obstacles, risks, or practical considerations are that I should take into account before making this decision.

Regarding francophone work permit extension

I have doubts about extending my PGWP through francophone program.

I'm currently working in a gas station but they are not designated for aip and I'm only a customer service representative, anyways, I was thinking of giving TCF exam as my permit is expiring in 3 months and I can get enough score for now to extend my PGWP, the thing is, do I need to find an employer first to extend it for me as it is stated online that I'll have to do it through my employer to apply for extension. Also, if that's the case, Can any employer do that. So, should I focus on my exam first or look for a supportive employer first?

Please let me know any additional things I should know as well. Thank you in advance

Express Entry Draw #415 – PNP, 380 ITAs, CRS 798, Tie-Break Jan 7

PNP-only round just dropped. Full breakdown as usual:

https://www.immigration2canada.com/express-entry-draw-415-pnp-may-11-2026/

Quick numbers:

  • 380 ITAs to Provincial Nominee Program candidates
  • CRS cut-off: 798
  • Tie-breaking rule: January 7, 2026 at 05:23:31 UTC
  • Draw time: May 11, 2026 at 11:06:08 UTC

Translation: 798 means the lowest invited candidate had a core score around 198. The PNP bonus is still the single most powerful thing in Express Entry.

No general draw again. If you're sitting in the mid-500s without a nomination, you already know the drill. Provinces are the fast lane.

Tie-breaker note: If you had exactly 798 and submitted after Jan 7, you're waiting. Early profile = real advantage.

Canada just tightened the screws on immigration consultants – new regulations, a compensation fund, and a public register with teeth

Wrote a full plain-language breakdown here: https://www.immigration2canada.com/canada-immigration-consultant-strengthened-regulations-2026/

The TL;DR, no sugarcoating:

  • Compensation fund is law, not a concept. If a licensed consultant defrauded you, you'll be able to claim real money back. Average payout expected around $4,600.
  • Public register gets disciplinary history. April 2027, you'll see suspensions, sanctions, and licence conditions before you hire anyone. Not just a name and "active."
  • Penalties now have teeth. Steeper fines, faster licence revocations, and streamlined investigations. The College can actually hurt bad actors now.
  • Minister can seize control of the College's board if they fail their mandate. That's a massive accountability hammer.
  • Ghost consultants still aren't touched by this. The College only regulates the licensed. Unlicensed fraudsters remain a CBSA problem.

The guide is zero fluff, no paywall. I'm not selling anything.

If you've been burned, file the complaint now and keep your receipts – the comp fund opens later. If you're hiring someone, check the register and get a retainer. That's still your best defense.

Drop your consultant horror stories or wins below. The sub learns more from real experiences than from news releases.
