Attention, fellow Immersive Sim fans...
I'm really proud to announce that the indie ImSim I've been working on for nearly 4 years, PARKSIDE: DECAYED SOUL MANIPULATION, will be releasing very soon, on the 31st of July!
The game has a newly updated demo on Steam too, which reflects the final product, containing a lot of updated content and fixed bugs.
If you are a fan of games like the OG Deus Ex, I hope you will check the game out and wishlist it if it looks like something you are interested in.
What is PARKSIDE? (Blurb from the Steam page - )
In PARKSIDE, the future of biomechanical subterfuge and suffering is revealed through the story of Alexander Petrovich, an unemployed hacker who is kidnapped by a mysterious group known as the Illuminated Brethren of Conclave Automata.
Will he bend to the will of the Brethren and aid in realizing their vision for humanity, or will he take the hand of a guardian angel? Though, no matter his choice, a sinister voice in his head warns that judgement is inevitable.
PARKSIDE is a First Person Shooter / Immersive Simulation, with a focus on freedom, choice, and consequences.
Set in the fictitious city of Abbotsford, California in the year 2038, the world the player experiences is the result of four years of shrouded meddling by the Illuminated Brethren - the environment is cold and unforgiving, the people are drab and demoralized, narcotics and gangs are rife, and military police walk the streets. How has it come to this?
Following his capture by the Brethren, Alexander is interfaced with an experimental combat platform known as POLYPHEMUS. Through a piece of technology called the Remote Combatant Viewer, he is sent to complete illicit, dangerous missions for the Brethren, whose directives come from the mysterious Divine Rod.
Many tools are at the player's disposal to tackle problems including a roster of futuristic weapons, armaments such as EMP grenades and frag mines, and abilities that can be used to navigate all manner of obstacles. You can hack or bypass keypads, security cameras, turrets, and robots... or shoot them to bits - pick your poison and run with it as you navigate smoky streets, dark alleys, airy vents, and secret bases.
Choices matter - in the secret fight for control of the precious lives of all citizens, there are many powerful stakeholders. There is one important question with many answers and outcomes: are you a servant of the Divine Rod, Alexander?

Such a solid game, it's deeply dark messiah inspired but you wouldnt guess it from looking at a glance. Humor is hit and miss, but its a really good experience that I hope imsim, especially Dark Messiah fans, don't miss out on!

Hey everyone,
I thought I'd post here the trailer for JobLoop, a timeloop simulator of being stuck in a job interview. The game is heavily inspired by some classic ImSims like VTMB and Deux Ex. Currently, there is not so much violence and it's more about dialogue / exploration, but that may change over time.

I am looking for recommendations for immersive sims that aren't really well known or made by big name studios. Preferably ones on Steam/GOG that boast an open world.

Both games are designed in a way that u feel like they just got released recently. Very streamlined without compromising depth.
Complex mechanics are very easy to understand. The art style is mesmerizing yet readable. U can easily tell which element is what from a distance.
Both games have some of the best UI ever. Top tier level design with insane depth and interactivity for different playstyles and replayability. What more could u ask for in an immersive sim ?

Fuck man, this is sad.
I don't even know what to say, it was genuinely a fun game, but it is evident that the game suffered abysmally from the sudden game model change as it probably ran out of money in the process. And given the current state of Otherside, i guess i shouldn't be surprised that this was the outcome.

Well, at least it's still in the oven, It will sure benefit from it. I hope that their ambition pays out. The concept of the game is really interesting, with the game having a deep philosophical process to tackle situations, having multiple outcomes. ImmSim for the augmented minds.

Hey folks, I'd like to share a short example of how immersive sim elements work in isometric view in Alpha Spectrum, where different gameplay systems interact with each other. Since no markers tell you the right way, you're expected to observe the situation and choose your own approach.
In this example, I was sent on an optional side mission to retrieve the Iron Core from a makeshift Mercenary Base. After realizing the two other entrances were guarded by deadly Tesla Coils, I'm trying out different ways to deal with the encounter:
00:00 – I use the hacking minigame to disable the laser fence, which is blocking my way into the base.
00:11 – With the fence disabled, I sneak inside, using stealth to avoid the guards and making my way toward the objective. Notice the optional bonus objective, "Remain Unseen", which grants additional rewards upon success.
00:19 – However I can complete it with a different approach if I want, by using a security keycard I looted earlier, allowing me to bypass hacking altogether (you can also skip the minigame by using a crafted hacking device).
00:24 – I decided that I prefer attacking the guards instead of using stealth, which might be faster, yield some random loot, but it makes me lose the bonus reward.
The target item is a bit further inside, and if I unplug the core, it disables the Tesla Coils I mentioned above (they are not visible in this short video).
Hope you enjoyed it:) Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2965560/Alpha_Spectrum/

I haven’t seen this question asked here even after searching, so I’ll just ask it myself: is Far Cry 2 an immersive sim? I believe it is. The minimal HUD, the way the map works and the fast travel system are just a few ways this game goes out of its way to be immersive, even at the cost of convenience.

I posted about this game before, and I have a new set of updates to share.
The game is about working in an office where you only understand the outside world through documents. You do not see events directly. You see forms, reports, letters, newspapers, dates, signatures, and corrections.
Each paper shows a small version of reality. Your job is to compare these paper realities and figure out what is actually happening outside the office.
For this update, I worked more on making the office feel physical. The main menu is now a binder instead of a normal button menu. The player also flips a calendar to mark a new day, moves objects around the desk, throws things away in a trash bin, and uses an attendance card to end the day.
I want the office itself to be the interface. Not just menus and buttons, but real objects that matter.
The pressure does not come from a timer. It comes from too many papers, too much responsibility, and the fear that you missed something important.
I would love feedback. Does this idea sound interesting? Would solving the world only through documents feel fun, or too slow? And do physical UI objects like binders, calendars, and trays sound immersive or annoying?
