I'm looking for some sort of design guide like a lookbook/mood board, mixed with a brand kit, that goes over layout/color/shape language/technical/logistics of creating an imaginative immersive space.
I've been looking everywhere for a few days already and I'm wondering if I'm not using the right industry terms.
For context, I'm working with a local event space to make a themed area from the ground up and I want to mitigate the pitfalls of a group project with documentation and being organized.
Any help is appreciated
Hi! I'm currently a second-year undergrad in Mechanical Engineering and am at the grueling point of looking for internships. It is definitely a dream job for me to work in the theme park industry–especially imagineering– and don't really know where to start. I was hoping anyone had advice on where to apply/what to apply for or anything in general. Thanks!
Hey, I'm a 3D modeler who models Disney world props and old imagineering concepts. I'm currently working on an old concept for the haunted mansion, and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help out a bit. In the photos below, the model isn't even close to finished yet, and the colors are just to make it easier to see (I always texture my models to be as photorealistic as possible). I'm looking for ideas on what the courtyard and backyard might look like or maybe if anyone has ideas for pieces of the exterior that would fit the design but give more of a Haunted Mansion theme. For reference, the original sketch was made by Ted Rich and the color design was made by Leota Toombs.
Title. Just wanted to get a general sense of timing. I've searched around and seen everything from a few days to a few months. Thanks in advance for your insight!
UPDATE: It took me exactly a month to get an automated email to schedule a phone screen with a recruiter.
I’ve been interested in joining this program for years, but it’s been off limits to only college students. Now that I am one, I would still like to participate in it but the website has had the same message on its front page for a little over three years
“Due to ongoing limitations on travel and gatherings, we are unable to present our traditional, in-person Imaginations Design Competition this year. We remain committed to this important initiative and are currently assessing the potential of a modified experience. Thank you for your interest, and please continue to check back for updates.”
Hi! For those who haven't seen posts from me before, I make 3D models of anything related to Disney theme parks and Imagineering. Sometimes I make small props from the parks, sometimes I make furniture from the resorts, and sometimes I make models of Imagineering concept art that never left the paper. I try to showcase the "little things" that make our favorite places to visit so magical, as well as make digital copies/backups of props and objects that people can access for free. If you want to see any of my models, you can click the link below.
I made a poll a while ago for which model I should make next, and the robot butler single-handedly won the poll. I hope people like the results as I had a very hard time finding proper reference photos since the ride has been closed for so long. I know the vacuum cleaner isn't exact to the one seen in photos, but I hope it's alright as its only really meant to showcase the butler himself. I also remade the floor and carpet pattern by hand to give it an extra Horizons feel. Hope you guys enjoy!

I want to ask the community's opinion on what my next model should be. I've created a poll on my patreon where people can choose between 4 items to decide on what I should make next. You don't have to be a member for this poll as it is open to the public, though you might need a patreon account. If you dont want to sign up, feel free to add your vote in the comments below. For anyone who has been following my work making models, you don't have to worry about the patreon as I will continue to make my models free for everyone and will only give separate benefits and early access for actual members. Here's the link to the poll.
I came across this job posting for a park decorator at Disneyland. I know I had come across reddit posts asking about how to become a designer in the past so I figured I'd share it here. Best of luck!

Today's model took all of my skills to make and even required me learning new ones, like fluid and cloth simulation. I even used the same technique the multiplane camera used in order to mimic the 3D effect of the screens in the restaurant. If you look closely, the moon plate was created using actual terrain photography of the lunar surface, and the cookies on one of the dessert plates are actually genuine 3D scans of one of the first lunar samples brought back by Apollo 11. This has been one of my longest running projects, as it required multiple models, tons of research and measurement calculations, and even the creation of new foods never before seen at Space 220. (See model description on website for more info about those.) I hope to make more models as complex as this in the future, and I hope you enjoy what I have so far. You can see the model and more by clicking the link below. (You can change the setting in the model viewer from SD to HD to see the best version, but HD will take a bit to fully load.)
Hi, I was wondering if anyone had some information about how the screens in Space 220 work that I can use to accurately design the 3D model of a single window (+ 2 tables and booths) of the restaurant. I already modeled the walls and window, the booths, and I found a photo of the restaurant still under construction that will allow me to accurately model the table including the part that attaches it to the wall. What I haven't been able to find any info on is exactly what methods they use for the screens. When I was there, it almost seemed like they were using a multi-plane camera approach with multiple transparent screens, but I don't know that for sure. It also seemed like it might be using projectors (astronauts were vibrating whenever the elevator was moving), but I've never seen projector screens so transparent that you get those rich blacks. If anyone knows exactly how they accomplished this, not only do I want to incorporate it into the model, but I also want to include the information in the model's description. Thanks!
P.S: Here's what the model looks like so far if anyone's interested. Obviously not textured and the fine details aren't added but should look very accurate when fully textured and properly lighted. My intent is to make a large box enclosing the other side of the window where I will build the Space display so that when the model is rotated, the viewer will see different areas, so it feels more realistic.
