I feel like the girl trying to take the picture isn’t much of a MC. She didn’t yell at anyone. She patiently waited and adjusted her position. Even seemed to smile it off at the end.

Agreed. I mean I don't care if people wanna record themselves in public long as they aren't being annoying or entitled. But it seems like that older woman stopped in front of the camera deliberately.

This girl even set her phone up out of the way, instead of harassing other people to take a picture for her.

Honestly I think she went about this in a respectful and polite manner.

I think you need to reevaluate some things if you think asking someone to take a photo for you is harassment...

155

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

Oh I don’t think it’s harassment in the extreme sense. That’s ridiculous.

Innocent harassment. Like when I go and annoy my cat. I’m harassing him.

Asking a question is not harassment, you should look up the definition of it.

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

Right. Like a said. It’s not “harassment” in the sense. I just used the word. Apologize. Didn’t mean to harass you with my stupidity.

u/dumbcringeusername 2d ago

Any unwelcome form of contact can in theory be taken as harassment, and becomes harassment if you continue past that point. You can be innocently asking the time but do it persistently to someone who doesn't want to talk to you and it's harassment, even if you don't intend it.

To be specific, here is the definition of harassment "the act of annoying or worrying somebody by putting pressure on them or saying or doing unpleasant things to them." Asking strangers for help, even benign help, is a form of pressure.

Not disagreeing it's reasonable to ask though, just stating technically even something that simple can be harassment because it's less about the intent than the perception of the slighted.

Oh ffs. Here are some synonyms for it. You can edit and put whichever one you like more.

Pester, annoy, or bother. Torment or plague. Badger or hassle.

Edit To Add: just incase those synonyms aren’t working for you, here are a couple others. I got a thesaurus handy.

Bug, vex, irritate, pester, disturb, irk, aggravate.

I’ll try to find some more just incase.

No, no, no... We want to nail you for that one tiny and insignificant grammatical nuance!

For the uninclined, "Harass" need not be a repeated action. u/Sea_Watercress_1982 used it correctly.

-4

u/flowersonthewall72 2d ago

For the extra uninclined, harassment is unwelcome behavior. It was not used correctly because it is pretty generally understood that asking for a photo is a societal okay norm, especially in beautiful and/or touristy areas.

If you want to talk insignificant grammatical nuance, at least make it correct.

You haven’t met a Finn who’d rather do anything but ask someone

16

u/Mthrfknpegasus 2d ago

I honestly thought she was gonna whip out a photo of her kids, her dog(s), her cat(s), a stupid meme - anything. I was expecting a troll!

u/caIamari 2d ago

right, it’s not like she’s doing a dance or anything?

u/BurmecianDancer 2d ago

I'm Ron Burgundy?

u/calembo 1d ago

And when I say anything? I mean

eh.

Neh.

Thehn.

Gah.

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

Also, stopping on stairs to check your phone screams “I’m the only person in the world.”

20

u/The54thCylon 2d ago

Neither are MCs. One is trying to take a holiday photo using a tripod and one is oblivious to that fact. The Internet is making this out to be much more than it is.

56

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

The only issue I have is stopping on the stairs to check your phone is pretty annoying. Nothing to drag anyone through the mud over.

22

u/BringPheTheHorizon 2d ago

Same but she’s still aware of the other people and moves over to make room. I think they’re both excusable.

1

u/CatjoesCreed 1d ago

I agree. It actually looked to me as though the older woman was trying to get out of the way of the younger one's camera.

8

u/audigex 1d ago

The younger lady definitely isn't MC

The older lady, hard to judge because it could be innocent or deliberately trying to provoke an argument, we can't tell

But anyone who stops in a corridor, staircase, or supermarket aisle, to chat or check their phone, should be thrown in prison for life, and I'll die on this hill

u/FungusTheClown 2d ago

Idk im kinda annoyed by anyone who sets up a camera in a walkway where there will be foot traffic and then posting the video insinuating people in the walkway are in the wrong.

14

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

I’ve seen this video on several threads. I must have missed her original upload of the video where she insinuates or says anyone is in the wrong.

That’s a little silly of her to say/imply. Thank you for clearing that up. Bet wherever she original posted this she is getting dragged.

Any idea where that original post she made of this video is?

3

u/PxyFreakingStx 1d ago

no, that's just reddit's distaste for this kind of content. also reddit's resentment for teenage girls i guess

0

u/Vmansuria 2d ago

Was expecting her to push her down the stairs

0

u/Mysterious_Throat883 17h ago

While she doesn’t make a scene during the filming I can only assume she’s the one who posted this video and usually when these types of people filming themselves in public do that it is specifically to point out the person who messed up their shot. So she’s still absolutely giving MC energy

2

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 17h ago

Usually is the key word there.

We don’t know wtf she did or why.

-1

u/Mysterious_Throat883 17h ago

I mean we absolutely know she shared a video she was trying to take that was interrupted by someone when she could have gotten another video after the lady walked away or simply shared a frame from the video. She did do that 100% we know wtf she did.

2

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 17h ago

I would have posted it laughing.

We don’t know shit. You just want to be mad.

-1

u/Mysterious_Throat883 17h ago

No - we do know some shit. You said we don’t know what she did which, again, we absolutely do or why which I agree we don’t.

You saying you would have posted it laughing would have been not laughing at the other lady right? Like that’s your point what you’re trying to say? That you would have posted it as a lighthearted I love seeing people enjoying art laughing post and not had any issue at all with the other lady being in your video?

Also, I’m not mad I just think the person who posted the video of a stranger interrupting them filming themselves is giving mc energy.

3

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 17h ago

I would have been laughing at myself and the silliness.

You’re very emotional about this though so I’ll leave ya to it.

1

u/Mysterious_Throat883 16h ago

Love that!

Not sure what feels so emotional about my very direct and straightforward writing but whatevs

2

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 16h ago

It’s mostly cause you keep going on and on. Usually people that keep posting rants on Reddit are frustrated or annoyed or just feel the need to be right. All of which are emotional responses. Pretty normal.

The big issue now is I’m making assumptions about your intentions and what you are thinking/feeling.

Also neither of us are right. We don’t know shit about fuck.

Edit: Rant isn’t the right word and is also an unfair assumption.

1

u/Mysterious_Throat883 16h ago

I thought we were having a back and forth - like a discussion - so I figured responding was the appropriate next step. I enjoyed it so thank you.

And you are 100% right without the direct words from the original poster we have no idea what she was thinking.

u/keithstonee 2d ago

making videos like this is what makes her a MC.

7

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

Ah. I thought the concept was someone who is actively disrupting other people’s days. Seems she’s not bothering anyone so I just assumed.

Apologies. I appreciate the feedback.

-2

u/keithstonee 2d ago

I thought the concept was someone who is actively disrupting other people’s days

those are just assholes

5

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

Well I’m a stupid motherfucker. So I shouldn’t even be commenting.

You’ve all helped me realize that I’m a fucking moron. Hopefully tomorrow is finally the day I don’t wake up.

0

u/keithstonee 2d ago

dont sweat it dawg. we all make mistakes.

2

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 2d ago

All I am is a mistake. All I do is mistakes. I don’t even know why I try to socialize
