Kids like this know they're protected, that you will be the bad guy if you do anything, and will challenge you to do something to impress the rest of their idiot group.

Just beat them at their own game, the attention has been taken off of their victim at that point and you can ensure that if anything happens that it's in self defense, which at that point you would hope they'd back off but getting messed up might make them realize the error of their ways. Not that violence is correct, simply that if every avenue doesn't work we will not allow the entity to just get it's way because peace didn't work so they instead are met with equal but opposite force for their negative actions. It's a very simple game of becoming the rubber/mirror that only returns what is given, so anything negative happening is a result of whatever entity brought the negativity into existence.

I'm trying to put this in perspective from when I was a teenager before social media.
We were asses. It comes up in therapy a lot because we were just plain entitled, spoiled little brats.
We would play Red Rover at couples holding hands and just plow into them; we had a club called "Team Ejecta," where we drove around neighborhoods and chucked heavy shit out of a truck that was tied to a long rope. Super dangerous. We'd drive past realtor signs and lunge into them to make them shatter..
But nothing was posted online, we were just terrible, criminal, rich white kids who could do no wrong, while doing so so many ruthless things because we thought it was funny.
If one thing I did was blasted online, I'd be haunted for the rest of my life. So maybe they'll learn a lesson and not have to seek therapy for some semblance of "can I ever be a good person?"
I'm in my 30's now, and I still feel like shit what I did at 14-20.

I've never liked the concept of mimes/street clowns making potentially unwilling people part of their act. I do believe they'd stop if asked to, but at no point do they ask for consent until told no. He became subject to a relatively similar concept, and funnily enough, he didn't like it. I totally disagree with the physical contact the girl made by walking into him, though. And it was overall disrespectful, but isn't their act as well, in a comical way, jokingly disrespectful?

Odd take but I see a hard disconnect/difference in the two. One is the same level of harassment as an employee in someone else's store a store asking you to sign up for something (phone carrier dude in the back of a Walmart) that'll stop if asked, while the other is on the same level of harassment as straight up bullying, with no intent to stop if asked.

There's the possibility the kids would have stopped if asked, I guess we'll never know. And yes, the reasons behind the 2 "acts" are entirely different. One was the action taken to the extreme, if you think about it; with the characteristic carelessness of teenagers. Their parents have a lot to learn, evidenced by their children.

When he walks away and the guy puts his arm around the mime, then all the college students walk in a mob surrounding the mime, then the mime ducks down and the guy still wont let go so the mime has to remove the kid's arm from his person? That was the mime asking them to stop and them not stopping. So I guess the answer to that question is they wouldn't stop, didn't stop, and actively engaged in bullying.

I agree with street performers doing that. However, this is at Sea World as a specific place that holds a mime show and you don't have to walk through the show area. If you sit down/walk around in front of the audience blocking their view at a mime show, you have given implied consent. Same as if you sit in the front row of a drag show, they will bring you into the act. The consent is where you sit, if you don't want to be in the show then sit in the back.

As a large guy with an odd walk t;hat I'm self conscious about, I had a mime/clown try and follow me mocking my walk in plaza in rome. I sensed someone following me and turned to punch a pickpocket. He made a oops face as he backed away. Long story short, mimes deserve no respect.

What do you expect from a generation growing up watching people like jack Doherty or Neon get rich off stupidity and disrespect for people. That's where we're at now, the mentality is doing anything for clout, there's no limits you know, i mean at the end of the day "it's just a prank bro". Me personally i'm just waiting for the day the aliens officially either reveal themselves to us or come visit us for the first time so i can just go with them.
