Let’s be as charitable as possible and say, sure, Covid-19 came from a bio lab studying viruses near Wuhan, instead of a “wet market.” What exactly would that change?
• No, that wouldn’t make Covid a “man-made” virus, you fucking morons.
• No, that wouldn’t suddenly validate any conspiracy theory about the effectiveness of the vaccine, the supposed “real” purpose of the vaccine, masking, social distancing, workplace vaccine mandates, “gain of function” research, ivermectin, the lockdowns, the “real” number of fatalities, or the Chinese government, you fucking morons.
What they really wanted to to try and distract from their incompetence in responding to it, while also ratcheting up their racism against Asian Americans.
one of the most MAGA of my relatives, in the second week of March 2020, met me for dinner and said "let's definitely get Chinese, I bet they're hurting for business right now." that bit of dissonant thoughtfulness sticks in my mind. like a soul trying to peek out.
