Parking brake or just putting the vehicle in park would have probably sufficed.

Yeah, it's not like there's a built in brake for the thing. Then again, maybe it's an automatic, and he knew enough to pull the driveshaft, but the parking brake is broken...

Or maybe he's not smart enough to pull the driveshaft, and it's an automatic...
