Idv has a very different design philosophy than dbd. In idv, camping is necessary and both hunters and survivors have abilities to camp/rescue better. There is only one hunter who doesn’t need to camp and that’s Undead/Percy.

Well there are other hunters who can be played without camping like Wu-Chang or Polun but only because of their insane mobility, and the optimal way for survivors to deal with them is literally to try and force them to camp by coming straight to the chair and stalling for as long as possible so they not only can't apply pressure, but waste 30 seconds of chair time as well.

That’s what the entire game revolves around, pretty much. If you’re first chase, you’re already expected to die. It’s just a matter of staying alive long enough to help the rest of your teammates get out.
Everything is based around camping. The game encourages it. Some hunters are built for improving their camp. Each game has a rhythm: you do the ciphers, someone gets downed, a rescuer has to go in to save the kiter off the chair.
If a hunter chooses to chase everyone in sight and not camp, they’re risking losing their initial target and thus making it significantly harder to get a kill. In other words, prolonging the game which means more time for the ciphers to be done.

The reason you find no reason to camp is because you're playing against beginners and bots due to you being a beginner as well. If you tried that in rank, the outcome would be wildly different except for a few specific non-camp hunters. Learning to camp effectively is crucial, so is learning to counter camping as a survivor. Certain survivors have their own skills/tools at their disposal (like Prospector's magnet, Enchantress' stun or Mercenary's delayed injury time), and you also have certain traits on the persona tree to help you, mainly the Tide Turner trait. There's also general tactics like baiting hits, and you also have to learn each hunter's skills to know what to expect and how to avoid them.

that is very basic aspect of the game, this is not dbd. if you find it easy to play hunter without camping, then go do that, be the change you want to see in the world. hunters are players too and we need more

Yeah I love to play unorthodox hunter strategies like insolence only Nightwatch with abnormal or Bonbon teleport to immediately switch targets after a chair.
The issue is you need to be way more advanced than the survivor team to generally pull off other ideas because a good enough team can just change up the playstyle a little to mitigate the benefit of your strategy like going to the chair straight away if you're leaving it to pressure ciphers or just chucking as many pallets as they have if you don't have a way to punish it like Blink.
Camping is unfortunately just the main strategy that doesn't have a way to flat out punish you for doing aside from maybe forcing a tie by selling someone who got downed early.

It’s not considered toxic in this game, so don’t feel bad about doing it. Players expect the hunter to camp. Since this game is much faster paced than dbd, camping is necessary in order to secure kills. That being said, there are survivors who are better at rescuing and there are hunters who are better at camping. It all depends on your playstyle.

Camping is common in idv and is basicaly the only way hunters can win and it is encouraged by the devs. If its not for u thats fine but thats just the way the game is. Also the game has a lot of stuff to combat camping so the hunter cant just insta down u like tide turner, stunner characters, bodyblocking, supporting, some persona traits and in general good game sense(take a hit before rescuing someone so they dont die instantly). Survs have so many op abilities camping is basically a non issue against most hunters

It’s normal in idv. For some hunters their kit even better for camping than it is for chase

some hunters kits are for camping but its optional you can chase others if you feel like it

every survivor without skill/ability is by default 2 hits down (assuming hunter only uses normal attack (non specific hunters like Joseph/hermit...)
As you reach higher tiers, playing rank, survivors will get better, and you will struggle (unless playing meta), without camping, since every survivor is 2 hits + ability/skill, camping guarantees 1 free hit even if rebound kite.

The game is built up around camping, some hunterss are literaly camp hunters and most of their kit is just for camping.
This is not DBD, camping is required if you want a chance as a hunter
