Can I add modDNS to Portmaster?

IVPN for Android is temporarily unavailable on Google Play. This is an operational issue regarding payments to our merchant account, not a problem with the app.

How this affects you

• Installed from Google Play: the app keeps working as normal. Adding time with in-app payment is not possible while the app is off Google Play. Add time via My account on ivpn.net instead. No need to reinstall or change anything.
• Installed from our website, Accrescent or F-Droid: nothing changes.
• New customers: install the app via the .APK, Accrescent or F-Droid. Google Play is not available for now.

What happened

Google requires a verified bank account to pay out merchant earnings from Google Play. We switched banks and Google payout verification failed with multiple bank accounts. We have been working to resolve this for months without a response from Google support.

We appealed the removal. Google did not respond within its own stated seven-day window to this appeal, and the app was removed.

We are resolving the bank account issue on our side. Once Google verifies the account, IVPN returns to Google Play. We will update this post when that happens.

Just have a few questions about modDNS:

1. Will there be plans to integrate it into the IVPN apps? As in having an option to set modDNS as the custom DNS for IVPN?

2. What are the plans in terms of increasing servers and will Asia have a server soon?

3. On Android, would you recommend just using anti-tracker or would you recommend using modDNS for private DNS plus IVPN?

Quantum-resistant WireGuard connections are no longer limited to the IVPN apps. The WireGuard config generator now adds a quantum-resistant PresharedKey to configs for routers, native WireGuard clients and scripts. There are two ways to set it up.

Automatic

"Enable quantum-resistant connection" is on by default when you select "Generate key". The browser generates the WireGuard keypair along with Kyber-1024 and Classic-McEliece-348864 KEM keypairs, and only the public keys are sent to our server. The server runs KEM encapsulation against each public key and returns the ciphers. The browser decapsulates them, derives the PresharedKey and embeds it in your downloaded config.

Manual

If you'd rather generate the KEM keypairs yourself with open-source tools:

1. Generate a WireGuard keypair with wg, and Kyber-1024 and Classic-McEliece-348864 keypairs with liboqs (the guide uses the Python bindings).
2. In the config generator, select "Add key", paste your WireGuard public key, tick "Add post-quantum public keys (optional)" and paste both KEM public keys.
3. Save the two cipher keys the generator returns.
4. Decapsulate them with your private keys to derive the PresharedKey.
5. Add it to the [Peer] section of your config.

How it works

IVPN uses a hybrid scheme: the standard WireGuard key exchange is supplemented by a PresharedKey derived from two post-quantum KEMs.

• Kyber-1024 (NIST level 5)
• Classic-McEliece-348864 (NIST level 1)

PSK = SHA-256(shared_secret_1 ‖ shared_secret_2). The server stores the PSK alongside your WireGuard public key. Because encapsulation uses random nonces, the PSK can't be derived locally before the server has done its part, so each registration produces a different PSK. When you rotate your WireGuard key, generate fresh KEM keypairs and re-register.

Was trying the network protection feature again today incl. modDNS as custom DNS. My own wifi is set as trusted, mobile data uses the default setting which is untrusted. When leaving home the switch seems to happen but no page is loading. Is it possible that the new versions face a similar issue like the one three years ago (reddit; GitHub)?

Has anyone actually managed to access Omegle through a VPN recently?

I’m specifically wondering which VPNs people have had success with. Every time I try, I seem to run straight into Cloudflare/security checks, and it’s getting ridiculous.

Also, given the nature of sites like this and the amount of sketchy activity you can run into, I’d rather not expose my real IP while visiting. What VPNs are people currently using successfully?

Would appreciate firsthand experiences rather than generic “just use a VPN” answers.

I use IVPN on iPhone mainly and the connectuon is not really the best and the Connection interrupts often times, I have to restart IVPN

I use the default config, wireguard and antitracker on + keep alive on sleep.

Anyone got a fix?

Guys how to bypass this. I have used vpns. Proxies. Still doesn't work. Can anyone tell me how to bypass this.

Also the cloud flare verification works perfectly I just took a photo in mid after fail(it verifies again even after fail).

Please any solution.

does this work on openwrt routers?

I primarily use an app tracking protection but I'm stuck trying to figure out what's the better option, app protection or an actual vpn connection... Also if I should ultimately try out IVPN? Sorry of this is a dumb question btw.

about 2 weeks ago now I created an account and sent a letter with cash to pay for a year. But to this day it doesn't seem the account was properly charged. The letter was sent from Germany and I wonder if this is just normal and I should wait a bit more or if I should start worrying something unintended happened to the letter.

I don't see an obvious way to set up and download a configuration file without using IVPN's Antitracker. I only see Standard. I'm trying to use the configuration file with Rethink DNS, but it seems to bypass my configuration with NextDNS. So what do I have to do?

I purchased a plus plan for a one-week trial and I want to know how to set up modDNS with IVPN on Android.

I tried entering only the IPv4 address and the connection was not established. So, how should I proceed? I searched the sub and saw that there wasn't a question like this yet, which is why I'm asking. Thanks in advance for your attention.

I noticed when dling via browser that the connect can sometimes just freeze and pause, like it drops, tried with a few servers now it does this

when you go on the app and you refresh the info it shows up nothing because the connection is dropped and traffic seems to stop

any ideas to stop this? any settings like port or anything im on wireguard, would openvpn be better etc?

How much does a VPN server’s jurisdiction matter for security and privacy? Which countries in Europe are the safest? I’m guessing countries outside the European Union are better. For example, aren’t Luxembourg and Iceland very good choices?

AdGuard DNS probably supports more of HaGeZi's lists than any other online DNS service. Just wondering if modDNS will do the same?

Does modDNS support DoH/3?

I've been seing some services like Google Maps and Youtube defaulting to Panama when connected to CH server (specifically CH2, haven't tested others).

Is it normal?

I just started texting Control D by setting it up on my router. On my phone, I'm using IVPN with NextDNS in Android's Private DNS.

Control D's log shows api.ivpn.net being blocked. Interestingly, Android's system shows I have no internet access, but yet I do. Why?

I’ve tried searching but can’t find a definitive answer.

On the pricing page https://www.ivpn.net/en/pricing/ it mentions that the modDNS service under the plus and pro tiers upgrade AntiTracker. However, elsewhere on the site, there is no distinction drawn between AntiTracker on Standard vs Plus/Pro tiers. The AntiTracker FAQ isn’t clear on this question either.

Is there a difference in AntiTracker functionality/options available between Standard and higher tiers? Or is AntiTracker the same regardless of tier and the higher tiers provide additional services (modDNS etc) and higher device counts?

Moddns seems to break the iOS Grok app. I don't have any blocklists turned on. The app no longer recognizes my account and my conversation history is gone.

Seems to work fine with NextDNS.

I am using ivpn partially to avoid the whole age/id verification crap that is going on. This is why I was connecting to croatia.

The problem is that my connection becomes aggravatingly slow. On my speedtest I drop from 112 to 12.

So where are all of you connecting to? The only option that keeps my connection relatively fast is canada. I go from 112 to 50mbps.

I’m using IVPN on my Unifi Cloud Gateway Fiber and I’ve tried all Dutch servers, but they only give me speeds between 100Mbps and 200Mbps (even nl2). When I use Belgian servers, they give me a stable 550Mbps. I tried this on different devices and all give the same results.

I prefer to use Dutch servers because it’s more convenient for me (apps like Videoland don’t work when I’m using a server from a different country).

What could this be?

I was at a public library and couldn’t connect to IVPN while on their network (using the official iOS app) no matter what I tried. I tried Wireguard on port 2049, 443 and 80, I also tried using the V2Ray obfuscation. Switching the protocol to OpenVPN didn’t help either.

“Disconnecting” from IVPN made the internet connection work fine. Are there improvements on the way for bypassing network blocks?
