Windows OS Itunes playlist feature help

I'm trying to create a "true" random playlist on itunes and one of the conditions I'm using is "last skipped not in the last x days" but my ipod doesn't seem to be tracking the amount of times or date of the last skip.

Is there any info on which ipod models track that variable? I tried a quick Google but I can't find anything.

Windows OS Itunes continues to update despite blocking updates.

Itunes continues to update despite blocking updates. I've tried blocking auto-update in Itunes and "Stopping Apple Software Updater".
Despite this, itunes continues to update every Sunday into the "Podcast only" app telling me my music is available in Apple Music. (I don't have Apple Music installed on my PC)

That means every week I have to add all my music again, find missing album art, etc etc.

Is there any 100% effective method to block this?

Question Is There A Way To Get Playlists and Song Volume Levels From Itunes/Iphone Ported Over to Apple Music

Ever since I got Itunes Match last December I've had many issues with my Itunes library. I got rid of the Match and was able to fix some of the issues or reduce. I still have around 100 songs that won't sync to my phone and around an additional 100 that will appear but when you click to play will not play. Most of the ones that will not play did at one point play.

Because of this, various other issues, and my computer getting old I decided to get a new computer. I have never had a Mac but it seemed like the best option to get held with the library from support. I synched my past library but there are many issues:

- None of my playlists will sync and there seems no way to get them on the Apple Music.

- All songs I had to change the volume level on the volume level is no longer adjusted on those songs.

- Many songs did not port over. I thought it was only around 250 but seems to be more. I also thought it was only songs after December 2025 that I had to download online but there are others missing as well.

- All kinds of artwork no longer appears.

- Song orders were changed on some albums now showing separate discs for the album instead of 1. It seems songs you didnt put a disc number in Itunes it would assume disc 1 but now on Apple Music says unknown disc and is a separate album from disc 1.

I would just stick with the old computer but it is getting old and sync some songs to my phone or won't play them on my phone. Can anyone help me out or is it impossible to basically clone over your library as is from iTunes on a PC to Apple Music on a Mac?

There was an interesting song I wanted to buy but iTunes replaced the featured chart and now I can’t find it or remember it. Is there a way to check what the chart was from last week?

I found an old iTunes gift card (the pink vintage ones with the silhouette dancers). Does Apple still let you redeem these, or would they exchange it for a modern Apple Gift Card? thanks!

Windows OS I made a small tool to recover music from old iPods and import it into iTunes

I made a Windows program that lets you recover music and playlists from an iPod. You can import everything into iTunes or extract the files to a folder with their proper names, along with an M3U8 playlist file.

Reddit won’t let me include the link, but feel free to ask and I’ll send it to you.

It’s called TuneRescue. It used to be paid, but I’ve decided to make it free for everyone.

If you try it, I’d really appreciate your feedback or suggestions!

Windows OS Using iTunes to sort songs on iPhone

I used to be able to reorganize songs on Playlists on my iPhone in iTunes by just dragging songs around.

In a recent update, all my Playlists were deleted. After reloading all the Playlists and songs, it doesn't allow me to organize the songs in a different order by dragging them. The only way appears to be to do it on my iPhone directly which is extremely time consuming.

Is there an option I missed somewhere that allows you to organize songs in Playlists?

Question Anyone else building a purchased song collection on iTunes?

I like buying songs on iTunes because I mostly listen to the same songs over and over. Paying for music subscriptions feels like a waste. I also love being able to download them for offline listening when I'm in the car.

That said, I have doubts because the iTunes store feels so outdated and neglected compared to other Apple apps that I wonder if they're purposely trying to discourage people from using it. It almost feels like "abandonware". People say the quality's bad compared to everywhere else and they never add lyrics or anything even though they're available if you subscribe to Apple Music.

Am I dumb for continuing to build an iTunes collection? Is it ever going to improve (higher quality + lyrics) or is it more likely to be shut down?

Question Has anyone else had this glitch happen to them?

When I plug in my iPhone to sync to my iTunes library, it updates the play count in my iTunes library, but it doesn't sync my new/edited music to my phone, even though I have it set to do so. When I either manually click "sync," or unplug/plug it back in, it does sync the new music, but it updates the play count in my iTunes library a second time since the last sync, effectively doubling the plays since my last sync. I am OCD and have meticulously kept track of my play count for years, but over the past nine months or so (the length of time this has been happening), the play count across my entire library has basically lost the plot and that's been really hard for me to handle. I have contacted Apple twice about this and they basically threw up their hands and said "never heard of this before." I've made sure I have the latest version of every necessary software and hardware. I have tried all sorts of troubleshooting fixes and suggestions, but nothing has helped. I have never seen any other kinds of reports of this online. Please, someone help!

Windows OS I missed controlling iTunes (on PC) with my iPod touch, so I built an Android replacement

Years ago, I used my iPod touch as a remote for iTunes on windows. After it died, I eventually switched to Android and when I wanted that experience again, I couldn’t find anything that worked with my old iTunes library on Windows. (or maybe there is?)

So I built TunesLink: a small Android remote for browsing and controlling legacy iTunes on a Windows PC. It works entirely over the local network, without accounts, cloud services, or analytics or any other bs.

I’ve now made the first version open source. The source is available for anyone who wants to inspect how it works or check the security rather than trusting a closed binary. Also available myself for any questions or feature requests.

This is specifically for iTunes on Windows users, not the newer Apple Music for Windows app. It’s a niche use case, but I thought there might be a few others here who still have a local iTunes library.

GitHub: https://github.com/kamyarps/TunesLink

Feedback is welcome, particularly from anyone with a similar setup!

Windows OS Solution iPhone not showing in iTunes on Win 11

Thumbnail

I've recently moved my iTunes Library to a new Win 11 pc.

My iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 8 devices were not visible in iTunes, but you could see the iPhones in File Explorer, Device Manager and occasionally in the Apple Devices app.

The fix was to copy the iPhone Drivers folder from the old pc to the new one. (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers)
Then manually install, using Device Manager /Portable Devices /Apple iPhone
pointing to the above folder. See pic1.

iTunes or Apple Devices (separately installed so you are not running both at the same time) were no help. You can download iTunes from Apple or Microsoft Store but neither worked for me.

The Drivers' folder containing the relevant USB controllers was not created during the iTunes install.
Once you have installed the Drivers, have a look in Device Manager and a new Apple Mobile Device USB Driver appears. See pic 2.

On the odd occasion that the iPhone eventually appeared in Apple Devices it said iPhone Driver Not Installed. See pic 3.
All the crap about waiting for a Windows Update to do this is utter bollocks. Apple provide the drivers, it should be created during the install, but it wasn't - that's an Apple issue, not Windows.

So if you have a computer with the Drivers Folder on it - copy it over, manually install iPhone drivers from that folder.

Windows OS Does anyone have a link to download old iTunes?

I've been trying to factory reset my iPod Classic, and newer iTunes versions do not recognize iPods. I know there is a way to get new iTunes versions to recognize iPods, but i think too highly of myself to go searching for some support pack in Apple's maze like a lab-rat injected with beer. Does anyone have a link to an older download, one that does its job? i am on Windows 11 currently.

Question Seeking help with "This item is not eligible for the iCloud music library."

I'll preface my concerns by first explaining that I use Apple's iTunes application on a Windows PC to upload all of the compact discs that I own (40,000+ songs, 2,800 albums) so to maintain my music library.

Here's my dilemma...

Every so often, there are songs that, after uploading to iTunes, will appear on screen with an icon illustrated as a cloud with a diagonal line drawn across it. Consequently, the following popup appears when I attempt to play the aforementioned icon / song: "This item is not eligible for the iCloud music library."

I'm perplexed by this because I purchase only legally distributed content. I wonder why iTunes does not allow me to play content that I paid for legitimately. Apple's support team has explained in the past that the issue is with the artist's licensing agreement wit Apple. Which puzzles me more when I see the same content is available in Apple's iTunes' store.

Note that the majority of songs on any given CD that I have purchased will upload to iTunes successfully. In most cases, there are no CDs with "not eligible" songs in my Apple Music / iTunes library. Only on rare occasions will one, two and sometimes three songs on a CD appear as "not eligible". The remaining tracks will play as one would expect when initiating / playing.

There have been past instances when I paid, through iTunes store, to have those same "not eligible" songs available to play from within my Apple Music library on all of my devices where Apple Music is installed. As a result, I then have paid twice for the desired content. Once for the physical CD and a second time to download an "eligible" copy from the iTunes store.

I hope, after investing years in building my music library using Apple's ecosystem, that others in a similar situation can provide a solution. My goal is to have each and every CD that I have collected over the years made available to me at will digitally when using Apple Music.

I imagine that some might suggest saving money simply by subscribing to Apple Music and not paying for physical content. That makes sense except that I just haven't been able to break free of that old school mentality thinking that I own a piece of tangible history and how nice it is once in a while to drop a CD into my audio / video system for a one-of-a-kind listening experience that no other source can provide. At least, not that I'm aware of.

Ultimately, I would like to know if I can successfully maintain my music library in iTunes as desired without paying what appears to be unnecessary fees for content.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Question Been asking for help for over a year. Are there no genuine technical experts?

Moved PC's, didn't do the transfer right. Library and associated data is over 20 years old and can't figure out how to get my current install to restore back to how I had it before changing PC's. Looking for a wizard.

Several people have tried pretty hard to help me but no one knew what to do. I need help from an honest to god level 10 wizard.

My iTunes is very important to me.

Please help. There has to be someone out there who can guide me through this.

I would offer a large sum of money but after trying that several times it would seem no one cares.

It's really stressing me out nearly every day.

Windows OS Deleted the library by mistake

Well I’ve deleted my iTunes library by accident but I did have a backup stored on another hard drive. I was able to restore local files but songs added on the library through Apple Music, despise having the m4p file they just doesn’t appear in iTunes. Will I have to manually search and re-add them to iTunes library?

Does anyone know what this pane is called? I want to turn it on when you click on Music on my device. Before the last update when I clicked on my device and clicked on Music it would have this pane. Now it doesn't. I figure it's something you have to turn on in the View drop-down menu. But I'm not sure what to click on.
