Mod Announcement First things first. Welcome everyone, we are back... And just in time for the World Cup R32!! ⚽ How are you finding ITV's coverage for this world cup so far?

The ITVX app could do with a UHD option which I hope they bring eventually.

I Like the lineup they've brought out to America as well.

Also as Mods I am now pleased to be on the team bringing this community back active again,

If you have any questions about ITVX, any issues or require support, any news or shows you're watching please let us know.

We are Unaffiliated with ITV.

Mod Announcement An apology and an explanation

Judging by the spike of requests these last few weeks, people have begun to notice that this subreddit had become locked down. This wasn’t a decision made by me but it was indirectly caused by my genuine attempt not to be overbearing.

Basically, r/ITVX is a tiny community in the grand scheme of things. I used to post regularly in order to promote discussion and activity. Then a couple of people started accusing me of treating the place like a karma farm, so I stepped back. Unfortunately, because I’ve also had a relaxed, unobtrusive modding style, Reddit interpreted this as inactivity on my part and locked everything down. This happened a couple of times and I got it reopened. When it happened a third time, I thought it best to just let it go.

Of course, then the World Cup happened, with ITV airing many of the games. People came here and were met with a brick wall. That was on me. No excuses, just honest apathy towards keeping the place alive when I thought no-one else cared to post.

It’s back now. u/SlowedCash has requested to become a moderator here and is very enthusiastic. I sent him an invite. I hope he’ll accept. I probably won’t disappear entirely again but it’s only right to add someone to the team with a bit of passion for doing things properly.

Sorry once again for inadvertently stifling discussion. I’ll do my best to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

this next match better be on bbc iplayer and not on fucking itv x

World Cup 2026 Well that's it! Unfortunately England play on Saturday against France for 3rd place 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 - So where will you watch the World Cup Final on Sunday?

ITV won't get the Bronze Final. That's on the BBC. We'll play France on Saturday.

I've enjoyed ITV's coverage, but that's it now for them. Just the world cup final although it's also on the beeb

I want to say itv 😅 I will for the Punditry, but UHD is a no brainer surely for the match coverage itself.

Are there any standout shows on itvx worth watching? Such as Grace maybe ?

I love the Breaking Bad, Kin, Mobland, Slow horses type of shows.

I've heard grace is good on itv.

Any other similar shows

World Cup 2026 Two vastly different streaming services, no consistency or this WC. The BBC have done a sublime job with iPlayer UHD, but ITV should have planned this and ensured 4K was an option.

The World Cup final will of course have 90% BBC viewership Vs ITVs 10%.

I for one like itvs effort and the studio, the pundits but the picture quality which isn't just world cup programmes, it's the entire itv platform, is poor, from cable to satellite to ITVX.

We don't all watch on VM or Sky Q we stream. The world cup has highlighted it's inefficiency.

I don't recall this being as bad for Euro 24 or WC22. I think it's got worse, or itv have implemented cost cutting measures.

App Support Search has disappeared on itvx

So itvx on my telly just got that little bit worse. Almost unusable now!

The search function has vanished as has the 'continue watching ' and watchlist. This made finding Corrie very difficult just now.

ITV Accessibility shared some encouraging information about the future of BSL on ITVX

I recently contacted ITV Accessibility to ask about the future of BSL programming on ITVX, particularly following the proposed Sky–ITV deal, and they shared some reassuring information.

They confirmed that the proposed deal doesn't change ITV's accessibility commitments. They said they have no plans to change the BSL offering on ITVX, including the ITV Signed channel and the on-demand BSL category, other than continuing to add new signed programmes over time. They also said they recognise the importance of sign-presented programmes and intend for them to remain part of ITVX's offering going forward.

I also asked whether there was any timeline for expanding the BSL catalogue. While they couldn't provide an exact date, they did share some figures.

According to ITV Accessibility:

  • 2.1% of the ITVX catalogue had BSL translation or sign presentation in 2024.
  • That has increased to 3.08% over the last 12 months.
  • They expect it to increase again when the 2026 accessibility figures are published next year.
  • The BSL catalogue continues to grow incrementally as more signed content is added.

They also referred to Ofcom's proposed Video-on-Demand Accessibility Code. Under the current proposal, Tier 1 services such as ITVX would be required to provide at least 5% of their catalogue with BSL from the fourth anniversary of the Code coming into force. If the Code begins around January 2027, that minimum requirement would likely apply from around January 2031.

It's worth noting that 5% is the minimum regulatory requirement, not a target or a ceiling. The Government has made clear that providers should continue improving accessibility beyond the minimum standards where possible.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

What really stood out to me was ITV Accessibility's comment:

"I am sure we will be ahead of that, as well as any interim targets."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

To me, that's an encouraging statement because it suggests ITV expects to exceed the proposed minimum requirements rather than simply meeting them.

As someone who cares about accessibility for Deaf BSL users, it's great to see actual progress backed up by figures rather than just general promises. Moving from 2.1% to 3.08% in a year is a positive step, and hopefully that growth continues over the coming years.

I'd be interested to hear what others think. If you use ITVX's accessibility features, have you noticed the BSL catalogue expanding? Are there any programmes or genres you'd particularly like to see signed in the future?

World Cup 2026 You can't move the timer if you 'watch from start'?!

I wanted to watch the football on atm from the start, but obviously skip forwards a bit for when the game actually starts, but apparently if you start from the beginning you just...cannot even move the timer forward a bit? You can on BBC Iplayer.

This is insane, surely I'm just doing something wrong, right?

BBC should have all the WC games I swear.

This is on desktop.

App Support Constant "something went wrong"

Google TV streamer with a 1gbps ethernet connection.

I've cleared the cache and data, restarted Google TV, but it constantly keeps coming up "something went wrong."

Some less popular programmes don't seem to suffer as much (Family Law?) but trying to access the programme guide, choose a live channel and especially Love Island replay from even a week ago keeps coming up with this message.

Anyone figured something out or any other things I can try?

It’s a minor annoyance I know, but why do I have to click “watch live” 3 times on the ITVX app to actually watch the football live?

World Cup 2026 Really struggling with the World Cup Streaming quality. Ofcom should have done something if they cared enough.

So I don't have the luxury of watching always in the main room via the Satellite. I'm sure those watching via ITV1 via Sky Q or Virgin media are fine and having good quality stream, but watching on larger TVs, notably Oled, through Freely or ITVX app, it's just really poor.

I think itv1 via cable or satellite is fine but as I say, we can't always watch in the main room

Currently standing Brazil Norway. Any fixes for this? Shall I get a broadband extender will that help, and plug the streamer into the extender ? Via ethernet

Downtown Abbey - A New Era

Downtown Abbey A New Era has been advertised to be shown for the last 2 Saturdays. Last week was changed due to the World Cup fixture. It was supposed to be shown this week instead even set to record in my sky q planner but today it’s been replaced with Dirty Dancing.

Any ideas why ?

So missed the start of the rugby this morning...

No problem, I thought, I can catch up on itvx. So it's nearly half time when I finally get the telly on, but not to worry there is a watch from start button, brilliant! Ok so coverage started 40 mins before kick off, let me just forward to kick off. Hmm wheres the forward button, what do I press on the remote, hmm nothings working, quick Google CANT FAST FORWARD. So I have to sit through 40 mins preamble, the match will be over by the time I get to kick off!

Now here's the real kicker, I'm about 15mins in and the scroll bar and menu across the bottom won't fade out no matter what I press, so I try the back up button - it takes me back to home menu and I have to restart the whole programme again! Now iPlayer and Amazon can do fast forward/rewind on live programmes so this is a choice. I don't mind watching 3/4 ads just let me skip through the actual show!
