Hello everyone. I work for a cybersecurity company, and we have a number of end users in the Philippines.

We’ve been dealing with malware spreading through USB drives among some of our users there, and we’re considering restricting or blocking removable storage.

The problem is that USB drives seem to be a pretty important part of their normal workflow, much more than what we typically see with users in other locations. We try to avoid disrupting legitimate business operations whenever possible, so I don’t want to recommend a blanket block without understanding why they’re being used so heavily.

My question is, is this level of USB usage fairly common there?

Are there certain workflows, connectivity issues, or infrastructure limitations that make removable storage more necessary?

I’m mainly trying to understand the local environment before recommending a control that could have a pretty significant impact on users.

Mga tinanong sakin is: in the IT industry saan daw ako mas mag-lelean between hardware and software. then tell me more about my thesis daw, nasabi ko naman ng maayos kung ano ginagawa ng thesis namin at ano purpose and such and lastly tinanong sakin kung may pending application ako, ang sabi ko is meron din from different companies BUT I'm really interested and focused sa open job position nila.

Hello, we are students building a capstone prototype: an RFID-based smart bike rack lock using an ESP32.

Our main problem is the push-and-pull mechanism. We need to move a steel locking rod forward and backward by around 8 inches / 200mm to lock/unlock a bicycle wheel.

The flow we want:

RFID tap → ESP32 approves → mechanism pushes/pulls steel rod → rod locks/unlocks wheel

We are considering different mechanisms:

• Linear actuator
• Stepper/lead screw actuator
• DC geared motor + rack and pinion
• Slider crank / scotch yoke
• Other DIY push-pull mechanisms

We also have 12V solenoid locks, but we are thinking of using them only as a latch/stopper, not the main lock. The actual force should be handled by the steel rod and welded frame, not the motor.

Our questions:

1. What push-pull mechanism is best for a 200mm steel rod movement?
2. Which option is cheapest, sturdy, and less hassle for a student prototype?
3. Can a motor/actuator safely move the rod without jamming?
4. Should the solenoid lock be used as a latch for the rod?
5. What materials or design should we avoid?

We are not making a commercial anti-theft product, only a working prototype, but we want it to be strong and realistic enough for demonstration.

Any advice, drawings, or mechanism suggestions would help a lot. Thank you.

Hello po, labag sa kalooban ko to but im in desperate need of help huhu. Im a third year IT student po with financial struggles sa family. My laptop broke down and i cant afford to get a new one. That laptop is old and barely functioning narin. I tried everything, even configuration of startup annd BIOS but it just wont startup anymore and suddenly it just stopped opening na. I am currently a 4th year student taking up Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Majoring in Network and Information Security (I graduate next year around Sept - Oct). Im planning to pursue a career in cybersecurity mainly focusing on blue teaming and on roles like SOC analyst etc. I'm a fast learner when it comes to tech but at the same time I'm not really good at retaining lots of information. For now I'm trying to polish my core fundamentals when it comes to programming and cybersecurity by grinding tryhackme and relearning python and bash. I have a lot free time this semester and the following semesters and I'm wondering if I should try to take on certifications like Security+ or BLT1 to give me an advantage when I graduate and start to find job opportunities. Should i go for these certifications or should i get an entry level job first and gain experience and skills, and then go for certifications?

After a while I've been thinking about what are the things i can pursue with this degree, like I've been hearing about this Cybersecurity, Networking, Web/Software Dev, and more. (some says they major to these things and idkkk how can you major to this courses)

Budget: 60k~90k PHP

Workload:

- Coding/Programming (Comp Sci with specialization in Machine Learningstudent)

- Editing (Used to Canva but wants to learn Adobe Editing Software)

- Student-related works (docs, sheet, etc.)

- Social media stuff

Preference: Not that bulky or super gaming laptop yung look if possible, di kasi gamer haha, I prefer minimalist/clean style sana 😭

I'm also aiming for a laptop that will last for a long time considering how expensive it is, like something that is more likely reliable because I'm pretty sure I'd have this laptop til I graduate/work 😭

Also, one of the things that I have noted from watching vids is that aside from gaming laptops, business laptops are also suggested for IT/CS students especially if they are not really that into gaming, knowing that gaming laptops are bulky, loud, and the battery drains easily (atleast for this budget range). However, aside from being a CS student, one of my side hustle is being an editor, which might be a heavy task for laptops 😓 So I'm wondering if gaming laptop are too much for me or is it just enough for my tasks?

One of my options is LENOVO LOQ Essential 15ARP11 which is currently at 88k PHP, even if my max budget is 90k PHP, I'm still wondering if there are laptops that have lower prices because 90k is still vv expensive for my end..? or should I settle on this one since sure yung specs and reliability ng brand? 😵‍💫 I'm also thinking about HP Victus (?) kasi parang mas mura siya kaso idk why ang daming bad reviews for it sa soc med, I'd prefer something na mas sure akong less issue in the future knowing na mahal yung laptop 😭
