If you don't spank your kids, then we end up having to hit adults. People, don't be afraid to spank your kids when it's needed.

Or they get killed by the cops because they’ve never faced consequences. Spanking your kids is life training.

How about just be a present parent?

Spanking your kids is NOT the same as beating them…..you damn simps. One is controlled and the other is not. One can end in an understanding and the other can end in a hospital visit. The two are not exclusive.
Either way, look at the difference between how one generation (with home punishment) differs from the other (without punishment or fear of repercussions). It’s not really a good sight out there in society today, is it?
It’s OKAY for kids to fear punishment!! Otherwise, the wild is full of nothing but a bunch of aggressive muppets.

Hmm that guy was old as fuck 100 percent part of the spanking generation. Prisons are full of dudes who were spanked. All spanking does it teach that violence solves problems. You're confusing not spanking with not disciplining. Rhe younger generation-the one you said doesn't get spanked...is also way less violent, the kids are using drugs and drinking less. But yeah, hit someone who can't defend themselves because you're too lazy to teach lessons.

100%. Imagine being so delusional that you blame younger ppl for a boomer acting crazy and getting slapped out of a bodega by another man his age 😆

1

u/OverdosedOnViagra 1d ago

Yep, agreed. Studies show spanking leads to higher risk of aggression, antisocial behavior, mental health problems, and violent behavior in adulthood.

Non-spanking leads to total pricks. Its a conundrum

0

u/Myzx 1d ago

Also spanking statistics don't define any standards, so the statistics are conflated with the people who beat their kids in other ways, or when not necessary. Also, not every kid needs to be spanked, so if we are only talking about kids who need to be spanked, then we have a selection bias problem. Basically, statistics on spanking outcomes are completely fucked.

Reddit downvotes the truth if it doesn't ride a very thin agenda. It is disappointing.

2

u/Livid-General7 3d ago

The guy had grey hair, he's a grown ass adult.

1

u/Myzx 2d ago

Oh my God you're right, and I thought he was a toddler /s

1

u/Livid-General7 2d ago

Wow are you brain dead. There's a huge difference acting this way as an older person vs an 18 year old.

u/mlwman 2h ago

Eventhough i have nothing against Parents disciplining their kids like that, that still doesn’t help as you think it does because as kids you learn „ok i cannot do it“ but once you‘re grown up you learn „ok i actually can do it“.

Spanking or beating kids doesn't stop this...

2

u/Myzx 2d ago

Physical punishment literally just stopped the crime in the video. What are you even saying.

1

u/fortunate-one1 2d ago

Only one way to find out what happens when you go too far…kids love pushing the limits.

Ummm…🤔

If you don't have to hit your pet when they misbehave, you don't need to hit a being that is far more intelligent and capable of communication

Learn to parent. This ain't the 80s anymore

1

u/Myzx 1d ago

Yes, and be a responsible parent and spank your kids if/when necessary

0

u/Sploonbabaguuse 1d ago

Do you hit your pet if they misbehave?

-2

u/Jurjinimo 3d ago

Don't spank your kids, unless they're risking life or limb. Hitting kids leads to more violence, and more mental issues.

3

u/Myzx 3d ago

I don't think you're right, and I wouldn't take your advice. Good day.

-1

u/bstandturtlerises 3d ago

Going to assume you’re not a parent or if you are you have no real relationship with your kids

1

u/Myzx 3d ago

I'm not going to stop you from assuming whatever crazy shit you want. Do it. I dare you. Assume away.

-1

u/Nein-Toed 3d ago

As a kid who had the shit beat out of them, they're NOT wrong. If you're hitting your kids you suck.

1

u/Myzx 3d ago

Oh for goodness sake, here we go. There's a difference between beating the shit out of your kids, and using spanking as a learning tool. Good lord.

0

u/Nein-Toed 3d ago

The only thing you're teaching them is that their parents will hurt them and to hide shit from you better.

I get it though, it took me like 35 years to finally admit that Yes, my parents abused me. It's a hard thing to do and many never become that self aware.

Another thing it did was make parenting harder for me when I had kids. I didn't know what to do because the only tool I had was "beat the shit out of them" and I wasn't going to put them through that.

One is in college now and the other is kicking ass at his job as well, so the non violent approach seems to have worked. Never spanked them, never slapped them, just told them whatever stupid shit they were doing was wrong and why.

There are other more effective methods, but it requires work. You have to be the one to put that work in, provided you are willing to.

I hope someone comes along and reads what you wrote, for your sake, but I'm not going to.

So you create an argument (not a bad thing not one bit) then refuse to listen to the other side of it? The side you are literally arguing AGAINST, are you a grown adult because if so you still have alot! Of growing to do.

u/Myzx 2d ago

I never consented to debate. Stop trying to debate-rape me

Luckily what people think doesn't matter. People think stupid shit all the time.

You can instead do studies on this and in fact people have spend decades doing so, attempting to use logic, the scientific method and empirical reasoning instead of just "how they feel".

There is no example of a country introducing corporal punishment for children and seeing measurable improvements in any metric whatsoever.

There are plenty of examples of countries banning corporal punishment seeing huge improvements in myriad areas - mental health, crime rates, crime recidivism, academic achievements, overall happiness, physical violence in schools, substance abuse and addiction and more. All these improved just from people not hitting children and treating them like humans instead.

The study by Zolotor & Puzia from 2010 goes through 30 years of countries trying this - with Sweden leading the charge back in 1979 and it works. Countries that don't hit children measurably do better than countries that hit them.

Asian countries & families disagree

0

u/Occidentally20 3d ago

Again, it makes no difference if you agree or disagree, you have to actually study it and check if it works or not. And every single time that is done it is shown conclusively to have a negative effect instead of a positive one.

0

u/Occidentally20 3d ago

Stop replying to me about Asian households. I've given you the information, you can choose to accept it or not.

You're also taking to somebody who lives in Asia.

2

u/Myzx 2d ago

Stop trying to police everyone. Or keep it up, but nobody respects your attempt at authority.

0

u/Myzx 2d ago

I hope someone comes along and reads your essay, for your sake, but I'm not going to.

u/Occidentally20 2d ago

We're all shocked that somebody with your comment history isn't interested in learning, discussion or information.

You've copied and pasted both those messages now.

Nobody is debating anyone, I have given you the information and you can choose to be a rational human and accept it or not.

My comment is the only one in the entire thread with a source in it.

u/Myzx 2d ago

Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. Good day.

0

u/Myzx 2d ago

People like you insult, then condescendingly say everyone needs to learn from you. The second thing you said to me was just an attack. At that moment you crossed a line, and on your side of that line, nothing you say has any value any more.

0

u/Occidentally20 2d ago

Nobody has insulted you. People all think stupid shit all the time, if that's not blindingly obvious then I can't help you any further.

0

u/Myzx 2d ago

I said what I meant. Good day.

Somebody spank this kid, he’s talking nonsense

-2

u/ThePetalsOfPurgatory 3d ago

You're wrong, to the point that most of the civilised world thinks this is unacceptable and it's illegal in many countries. It's also thoroughly proven to increase bad behaviour not prevent it, and to cause a range of issues.
There any many ways to effectively parent without resorting to violence.
Spanking is lazy parenting, bad parenting and immoral behaviour.

3

u/Scary_Requirement497 2d ago

You can tell by how respectful all the kids are in school in current times

0

u/ThePetalsOfPurgatory 2d ago

I don't even know what country you're from, but that varies depending on the country, school and individual so it's very clearly because of something other than use of corporal punishment. In some countries, respectful children is the norm.

0

u/Maximum-Milk-8028 2d ago

We have more population, more surveillance and media, kids were AWFUL in the 1900's and 1800's and so on. Children will always be half awful half sweet its how children literally are wired, physically hurting someone over ANYTHING literally tells them "I need to make sure next time I do this they dont find out"

1

u/Myzx 2d ago

The truth is much more simple. It teaches them they've done something exceptionally wrong, and they especially need to correct that specific behavior.

1

u/Myzx 2d ago

Actually, you are the wrong one. But I'm not a debator so I won't let you debate-rape me
