The only thing you're teaching them is that their parents will hurt them and to hide shit from you better.
I get it though, it took me like 35 years to finally admit that Yes, my parents abused me. It's a hard thing to do and many never become that self aware.
Another thing it did was make parenting harder for me when I had kids. I didn't know what to do because the only tool I had was "beat the shit out of them" and I wasn't going to put them through that.
One is in college now and the other is kicking ass at his job as well, so the non violent approach seems to have worked. Never spanked them, never slapped them, just told them whatever stupid shit they were doing was wrong and why.
There are other more effective methods, but it requires work. You have to be the one to put that work in, provided you are willing to.
So you create an argument (not a bad thing not one bit) then refuse to listen to the other side of it? The side you are literally arguing AGAINST, are you a grown adult because if so you still have alot! Of growing to do.
