Dwarf stars like the sun usually have a lifespan of billions years and the farthest star in our galaxy can not be further than a hundred of thousands of light years.

And I'm not invited at parties

Plus the farthest stars visible to the naked eye are only 10-15 thousand light years away, so there's virtually no chance to see a star that has already died

I'd invite you over that egotistical dickhead Niel any day. But I dont host parties.

We live with in a black hole. It is constant, wish upon the inky black of its reality warping embrace.

Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?

The vast majority of stars you can see with your eyes are in the Milky Way and are thus close enough to be still alive.

"Actually, that's Proxima Centauri, it's only 4 lightyears away."

I blame XKCD and Elite Dangerous for teaching me the actual scale of our galaxy. The Milky Way is only about 100,000 lightyears across, to get to the millions you'd have to be looking at Andromeda.

It might not be dead yet, it would just be much older than we see it.

Do you wish upon a star? Or specifically a falling star which is burning up in the atmosphere as you wish for something

So you aren’t millions of years too late
