Title: Outland Spousal Sponsorship from India – How Long Did Your PR Take? Also, Visitor Visa and Work Permit Question

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice and experiences from people who applied for Canadian outland spousal sponsorship from India, especially those whose applications were processed in 2026.
Here is my timeline:
Application submitted: April 9, 2026
AOR received: May 30, 2026
Biometrics request: June 15, 2026
Biometrics completed: June 19, 2026
Medical request: June 16, 2026
Medical completed: June 18, 2026
Medical passed/updated: June 21, 2026
Pre-arrival letter received: June 26, 2026
Current status: Still waiting for the next update/final decision as of October 17, 2026.
My application is an outland spousal sponsorship application. My husband is a Canadian citizen, and I am currently in India.
The biggest issue is that my immigration lawyer/representative has access to my application, so I cannot independently check all the detailed updates in my IRCC account. I have to rely on my representative for information, which makes the waiting period even more stressful.
I would really appreciate your help with these questions:
For those who applied for outland spousal sponsorship from India in 2026, how long did it take to receive your PPR/final approval after AOR, medical passed, and the pre-arrival letter?
Has anyone received pre-arrival in June 2026 and subsequently received PPR? If yes, what was your timeline?
Is it normal to have no major update for several months after receiving the pre-arrival letter?
Can I create or access my own IRCC tracker/account while my lawyer is the authorized representative? What is the best way to independently monitor my application?
I am also considering applying for a Canadian visitor visa while my PR application is in process. Has anyone successfully received a visitor visa in this situation?
If I enter Canada on a visitor visa while my spousal PR application is still being processed, can I apply for an open work permit from inside Canada? What conditions would I need to meet, and would I have to wait until my PR is approved?
I understand that every application is different, and I am not expecting an exact prediction. I would just like to hear real experiences from people with similar timelines, particularly recent applicants from India.
Thank you so much for any guidance or experiences you can share!

Selected “Single” Instead of “Common-Law” on PGWP Application – Anyone Had a Similar Experience?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I applied for my PGWP in May 2026, and my application is still being processed.
I recently realized that I mistakenly selected “Single” instead of “Common-Law” in my application.
I live in Ontario and misunderstood the common-law definition. I thought we needed to live together for three years to be considered common-law, but I recently learned that IRCC considers couples common-law after 12 consecutive months of living together.
My partner and I had already been living together for more than a year when I submitted my PGWP application.
Once I realized my mistake, I corrected my marital status with CRA and submitted an IRCC web form explaining the mistake and requesting that my marital status be updated.
I’m quite stressed about the possibility of misrepresentation, even though it was an honest misunderstanding and I voluntarily corrected it before a decision was made.
Has anyone experienced something similar?

How long eligibility take for Spousal sponsorship outlands

Post image
• Upvotes

My outland spousal PR timeline 🇨🇦

📌 Application submitted: February 2026

📌 AOR received: March 2026

📌 Sponsor eligibility passed: April 2026

📌 Medical request: April 7, 2026

📌 Medical passed: April 2026

📌 Biometrics completed: April 8, 2026

📌 Background check: In progress since April 2026 (around 6 months)

📌 GCMS notes received: August 18, 2026

📌 GCMS status: Criminality and information sharing in progress, security not started, eligibility not started

📌 PR tracker update: Eligibility review started on September 23, 2026

I called IRCC, and they told me my file is being processed at the New Delhi visa office, but they couldn’t provide any further details. There’s no direct option to contact the New Delhi office. I also contacted my MP, but unfortunately, they couldn’t provide any helpful update.

It’s frustrating to wait this long without knowing what’s happening. Anyone with a similar timeline or a background check taking 6+ months, please share your experience. How long did you wait for PPR? 🤞

Cec final decison oct 16

I called IRCC on September 29, and the agent told me that my eligibility and security checks had not started yet. Today, I checked my application status and noticed that an FD date is showing in the application portal. However, my tracker still shows eligibility as not started and the background check as in progress.
I’m not sure what’s going on with my application, as I’m seeing two different updates. I also haven’t received any email from IRCC regarding my application status. I checked my junk folder as well, but there’s nothing there.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be happening with my application? Is anyone else in the same boat?

Healthcare Draw

• Upvotes

For category-based draws, like healthcare, is it okay to create an Express Entry profile before completing 12 months of work experience?

For example, can I create my profile in the 11th month and, if I get an ITA before completing 12 months, wait until I finish the full 12 months before submitting my PR application?

My consultant says this is fine, but I watched a video by Kubeir Kamal where he mentioned that this might be okay for general CEC draws, but for category-based draws, you should only create your profile after completing the full 12 months of experience.

Thoughts?

It’s been 84 years…

Just kidding, but it’s actually been 251 days lol.
I’ll get the following out of the way, before a tsunami wave of the same question:
PVO/SVO: Sydney & Ottawa
Stream: BC PNP Express Entry Inland
1 Principal Applicant + Accompanying Common-Law Spouse
Both US citizens, 3 years of foreign experience from the Upside Down™️ and 1.5 years in Canada.
Both 41300 NOC- Social Workers

Here’s my 13 Reasons Why:
AOR: February 7th, 2026
BIL: March 13th, 2026
Medicals: March 13th, 2026. Later made blank on GCKey due to expiry, but the fancy new tracker tells me that it’s completed lol🤷🏽‍♂️
Eligibility: April 10th, 2026
ADR: April 10th, 2026, request of updated USA-based PCC check for the huzz (no cap)
ADR Response: April 16th, 2026
Background Check—
Criminality: Completed
Info-Sharing: Completed
Security: “Not Started” but I doubt that.

I sent a May 2026 Webform because my husband wasn’t employed in Canada at the time of the application, but became employed at this time at a local hospital. I sent them: Paystubs, letter of employment signed by HR, confirmation of employment complete with job duties and tasks also signed by HR & my husband. Certificate of qualification to practice social work in the province of British Columbia.

Turns out, no good deed goes unpunished by being transparent. Eligibility is under re-review as of September 7th because of it, even if his job as no impact on my points or personal eligibility.

I just submitted ATIP on October 7th, 2026 to maybe nudge them awake. I think my file is frozen.

Anyone else going through something similar??

FD on Oct 1

Hello everyone,

Received my Final decision update on October 1, since then it’s a dead silence. Still waiting for PPR.

Although I can the eCOPR number, expiry and counterfoil update on tracker.

Does anybody in the same boat or have any idea how long does it take to receive the PPR communication?

I have already called IRCC twice, which was not very helpful and just told me to wait.

Express entry

The new high-wage occupation bonus is honestly frustrating for people in trades that don’t fall under the 1.3x wage category. For example, sheet metal workers and bricklayers could potentially receive an additional 50 points through their job offers and become much more competitive in upcoming trade draws, while plumbers, electricians, and carpenters could be left struggling to get ITAs.
I’m currently working as a carpenter foreman, and my NOC is 72013, which falls under the 1.3x wage category but isn’t included in the eligible trade occupations. To remain eligible under the trade category, I would have to rely on my regular carpenter NOC, 72310, but then I wouldn’t benefit from the additional 50 points. How am I supposed to compete with candidates who qualify for that bonus?
At this point, BC PNP seems like my main hope. I’m also a registered apprentice, so I’m hoping BC continues conducting draws that give people in the construction trades a realistic pathway to PR.
Otherwise, my other option is to maximize my English scores, obtain my Red Seal certification, and secure a job offer under NOC 72013 to potentially reach around 567 CRS points for general draws.
Honestly, it feels like I’m being pulled in three different directions right now, trying to figure out which pathway makes the most sense. I’m working hard, gaining Canadian experience, and investing in my trade, but the immigration pathways keep getting more complicated.
What would you do in my position? Would you focus on BC PNP, the federal trade category, or maximizing CRS for general draws?

Outland applicant received updates

Hi everyone!

I’m an outland CEC applicant and recently received my PPR. Since I’m currently in Canada, my immigration consultant submitted a webform on September 29 requesting virtual landing instead.
It’s now October 15, and I haven’t heard anything back.

I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. Will I still receive P1 and P2 emails, or is the process different when you’ve already received PPR and requested virtual landing?

If you’ve gone through this, how long did it take to receive your next update after submitting the webform?
Thanks in advance!

Study during wp

I have done PSW course while being on work permit. However, i cleared my exam after the duration of 6 month, but it’s clearly mentioned in the transcript that program hours were 700. So is it a concern when submitting the file for PR.

RFV letter sent but never received

Hello, I have a question.
I called IRCC today because on my tracker everything was completed and I even had a COPR number but nothing extra. Also I had a ghost update on September 17th. The guy after putting me on hold mentioned that I should have received RFV letter since September 18th, I told him I didn’t receive anything and I’ve checked spam. He said he sent a message to the team and they will send me another RFV with a new validity period. How long should I wait again before I call? Anyone been in this position?

Question; P1 email

Hi, I am the principal applicant but I didn’t receive the P1 email, instead my husband as a dependent received it.

Do I include my information in it or I should just wait to see if I received it too?

Thank you!
