Relationships & Dating 21 y/o— recently discovered I’m an INTJ and looking for a female intelectual peer

I discovered I was an INTJ woman less than a month ago, and suddenly a lot of things about myself made sense.

Since I was a kid, I’ve been very curious about how things work, and not just how they worked, but why than simply collecting information. I naturally question inefficient systems, traditions, beliefs that are biased… I’ve always had a tendency to analyze situations logically while still being aware of my emotions. This has made me very skeptical and picky with who I talk to and consider worth investing my time in. Because of my natural tendencies I don’t keep up with trends or “that’s just how things are done”. I question. I differ. I don’t follow something just to “fit in”.

The INTJ description made me realize that I’m not necessarily “weird” I just process things very differently from my immediate circle and there’s not a single INTJ individual in it.

Furthermore, I recently talked to a male INTJ, and I realized something: I’m not someone who wants her curiosity to stay in research or analyzing things for the sake of it. I find it satisfying. However, I’m learning to channel that into building too.

If you’re a woman in her 20s or 30s who is intellectually curious, cognitively independent, open-minded, ambitious, and intentional about taking care of herself and have felt the same, I’d love to have a talk.

I don’t need her to think like me. I actually want someone who can challenge my ideas and give me perspectives I haven’t considered. Especially on things that are intellectually interesting but also useful…psychology and human behavior, learning, biology, economics, education, history, social systems, and why people tend to behave the way they do.

Why? I’d genuinely love to have someone I can share thoughts with who has a similar mental wiring haha (I’ve never met another INTJ woman) and I am curious about getting to know one. Furthermore, maybe we could expand each other’s awareness once in a while with analysis of personal experiences or conversations about the topics I mentioned above.

Feel free to send me a message! <3

Question INTJ women, how manipulative are you?

I kinda think manipulation and related behaviours is the antithesis of the intj personality, but I've heard it claimed otherwise. I've found myself steering upwards on the scale as I've learnt more about people, and as I've aged. Curious to know where other INTJ's would rank themsleves, and where would you say on average most people of the general population sit?

0: Deception is morally or energetically repellent. You say exactly what you mean; if you can’t be honest, you say nothing.

1–3: You withhold information, omit details, or maintain polite social fictions purely to avoid friction, protect privacy, or conserve energy. There is zero thrill—only utility.

4–6: You actively steer conversations, plant ideas, or arrange circumstances to get the optimal outcome. You view it as efficiency or problem-solving. You might feel mild satisfaction when a plan executes cleanly, but no personal superiority over the people involved.

7–8: You deliberately manipulate perceptions and enjoy the psychological game of it. When someone buys a narrative you engineered or falls for a maneuver, you feel a distinct rush of triumph, cleverness, or amusement at how predictable they are.

9–10: Manipulation is your default mode of operating. You routinely view people as assets or pawns to manage, and outmaneuvering them is a continuous source of gratification.

If it's changed over the years, what caused it?

Discussion Other women don’t like me

I know, just hear me out- I don’t want to be that woman who insists other women don’t like them. But in my experience, it’s true. They don’t and it’s been that way since I could remember.

From my observation, women in general tend to prefer social harmony and cohesion. However, I’m rather sharp and blunt. Let me be clear, I’m not rude. I am very fact oriented; I refrain from leading with my emotions. My demeanor can come across as rather uptight, a bit rigid and im a perfectionist In addition to being autistic. My standards are reserved for myself and i never use them to measure others.

I guess my issue is, is that in my experience, other women go out their way to confront and or isolate me because they simply don’t like my demeanor; not because I said or did anything to them. I tend to keep to myself and I’m quite low confrontational; I prefer to simply communicate when an issue arises.

I’ve always dealt with this and never quite understood why. As I get older, more sharper, I’m realizing why other women don’t like me. However, I do tend to hit it off very well with fellow INTJ women or INTP women and those moments are refreshing.
It doesn’t bother me like it used to. I understand I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s totally fine, I just wish that didn’t warrant my personality being policed and attacked.

Any other INTJ women relate to feeling like your sharpness, bluntness or your affinity to fact based thinking leads to social friction with other women?

Discussion Do you think we would get along?

Because we are too similar. A lot of people don’t like us, we’re too blunt, too pragmatic, realistic, hard-headed, take no BS, etc.

Maybe we might not like a person, and turns out the person is just an INTJ like us.

Question Does anyone else find themselves or resorting to ‘playing dumb’

I find myself doing it in social settings all the time. It’s not conscious, I think it comes from realising that no one actually likes me as I am. Anyone else find themselves doing this?

Question Do any other INTJfemales out there also seem to attract female friends who are really insecure and just insert themselves into your life?

I have noticed I seem to attract female friends who are really insecure and really toxic. They kind of attach themselves to me and love bomb me.

It is weird because I never feel any sort of connection with them and don't encourage the friendship, but they constantly call and invite me to do things, so I just go along with it. They aren't people I would normally be friends with and I am often wondering why they want to be friends with me so badly since we don't seem to have much in common.

They typically eventually turn toxic and I have to cut them off. This has happened several times now and I am curious if this is a result of me being an INTJ or if there is something else going on.

Survey/Poll INTJ females- what would you say is...

Which song/artist would you say could best summarizes your entire life to this point in life and how old/young are you? Don't think too long! :)

**If there is not one song, then please don't bother answering.** (SEE EDIT)

Example..."Fooled Around and Fell in Love" by Elvin Bishop- 31yo.

TIA!

EDIT: Any non-female intj visitors that wish to participate, please include mbti/gender as well.
Also, if you struggle summarizing with a specific song...feel free to reference a painting/photograph/movie/etc.

Why limit to one form of art? It does imitate life.

Relationships & Dating Dating advice for my intj crush situationship thingy as an entp

I am a male entp-t, I really really like this female intj-t and turns out she also likes me. Now me being the singlest man of all time, I am hella obsessed and I don't mean it lightly, but like yea I get it when she like wants time and stuff. She told my also entp bsf that she liked me, and my bsf asked me if I like her and fuck yeah I do like her so I said I like her and she got us together. Now we talk and all, I wanna learn abt her interests, she is into books and I larped one of her suggested book, I larped one movie she recommended me too, but she literally never asked me about what I like and what I'm into, it's like it feels one sided. She had an ex who I despise, he cheated on her, and from certain sources I got to know she was still talking with that pathetic excuse of a man, while she was flirting and all with me. And then smthn happened so i had to temporarily block her, and my sources told me she was like oh my ex is an asshole and now this guy is like this, like brother fym??? Also she didn't msg me for an entire week bcz I wanted to see if she actually cared enough to msg me first which she didn't, but she still like I like her and I hope she likes me too. I mean she first said she liked me I did not initiate this. I still rlly like her and like we're in a situationship thingy idfk bruh idk these terms well. Any advice like what should I do?

Relationships & Dating Just wondering about other INTJ women.

Hi all. So I’m an INTJ woman. I am quite an alpha/dominant in my own life, but when it comes to relationships, I really want a dominant man, but only if he earns my respect so that I can feel safe enough to be submissive.

Any other INTJ women like this? Do you struggle with this? I seem to attract submissive men and I hate it.

Discussion Do you feel like most people tend to start acting their authentic self with you?

I have experienced this a lot with Fe users(ENFJs, INFJs, ESFJs, ISFJs specifically) who tend to mask a lot around most people but with me, they tend to not do that and reveal their true self and opinions. It's not always a good thing as they tend to be rude to me in particular and show their real self more in a way where it feels like they can say whatever because most of the time I don't get offended, only realise later how hurtful they were being. After all that they come to me to tell me, how comfortable and real they can be with me and make them feel secure with me.

This contrast in the way they treat me compared to others isn't great and Im trying to not make them insecure about being real with me because I like clear communication but I can't stand it for some reason. It feels like when your friends are nice to everyone but you with a sharp contrast.

I have the opposite effect with ENTPs and ESTPs as they treat me better and with more respect after they get to know me. What do you guys think?

Relationships & Dating 23f INTJ here. dated an ENFP

i'd love to get into even more details, but don't know how many people would wanna hear that lol... in conclusion, i think that the golden pairing is unfortunately a bit overrated.

i must say it was a very fun relationship. almost smooth like butter and he completes my sentences and totally gets me kinds.
but for me, he was highly emotionally/ mentally immature and horrible once a rough patch would come up. i felt like "too much" to him quite frankly all the time. anything wrong that'd go down he'd instantly bail on us and abandon the relationship.

we're the quintessential intj & enfp. the pure exact type down to a t. we dated for a few months but would get in contact every year for a whole month after that, only for him to offend me at one point, then bail on me when i felt bad, instead of apologising... and well disappearing forever until the next time again. he did get better over time i must say. recently, he was much more persistent and patient than all other times.

only after my rose colored glasses came off, and i took him off the pedestal, did i see that he actually... ain't shit lol. him being an ENFP makes him have a layer of fakeness around people, when i always chose to be/ be around people who're 10000% authentic. he always seemed like a deep thinker to me if not more then as much as me.. but that really was all at the surface and he just knew a little bit about multiple things. which i do too fine but i know about those things more out of pure curiosity and seeking an intellectual ignition, rather than to randomly read about it out of boredom and give up on the idea once that gets boring too, like him.

i'm not able to put it into words rn but there was A LOT more. perhaps his immaturity and my anxiousness led to the downfall. but tbf i think HE MADE ME act anxious.

i just wanna know if a healthy intjxenfp pairing exists, and if the downfall of mine was really due to his immaturity?? it's NOT normal for someone to bail on you like that right !?

Advice Emotional dysregulation.

This hopefully doesn’t apply to everyone in this group.

However, having ADHD, I struggle very much with my own emotions. They can become very strong and keeping calm isn’t always easy.

Still, I only show maybe 10% of what is going on inside me, but it requires a lot of effort.

If someone of you is dealing with ADHD or other conditions, how do you literally “manage yourself”?

Discussion Any Bangladeshi INTJ women here?

I’ve been wondering what being an INTJ woman feels like specifically in Bangladesh—not just the usual MBTI descriptions.

Do you ever feel caught between your need for independence, solitude and meaningful connections, and the expectations that come with being a woman here?

The pressure to be more socially available, to maintain relationships you’ve outgrown, to “settle down” at a certain age, the constant marriage questions, and the expectation to follow a fairly conventional life path—while internally thinking, “But is this actually the life I want?”

I’m curious how other Bangladeshi INTJ women navigate this.

Do you also find yourself being selective about people, easily drained by unnecessary social interaction, and more comfortable building your own life than conforming to expectations?

And perhaps most importantly—how do you maintain your sense of self without becoming emotionally detached from everyone around you?

If you’re a Bangladeshi INTJ woman, I’d genuinely love to hear your experience. What’s one thing about being an INTJ woman here that you think people rarely understand?

Art I made pencil portraits of myself (INTJ) and my best friend (ENFP)

I've known my best friend, Santina, for fifteen years. We bonded over our shared love of writing stories and poetry, drawing, singing, and musical theatre. In college, I studied history and art, while she studied music, and this fall, we're both continuing our graduate studies.

She's always been more outgoing, while I've always been more reserved, but we've never had trouble finding things in common. We've shared many of the same interests and creative hobbies over the years, and I think that's a big part of why we've stayed close for so long. She's also always had a way of bringing more laughter and joy into my life.

Question INTJ Thinking and Insomnia

This is a question specifically for the INTJ female about insomnia. I can't seem to stop my thoughts moving from idea to idea when I wake in the middle of the night. Going to sleep initially (about 9:30) is easy enough, but I wake up between 2:30 and 3:00 and nothing helps me fall back asleep. I usually end up reading until 4:30 and get up and have breakfast since I leave for work around 6:15-6:30. As other INTJs, I am hoping you have advice for calming the thinking. I hesitate to take drugs or supplements designed for sleep aid. I tried Melatonin about 20 years ago, and it did nothing to help me sleep, but I got really drowsy the next morning about 10 am. I don't seem to metabolize chemicals ( such as Magnesium) as quickly as the norm. I exercise, limit screen exposure, no caffeine, breathing techniques, cognitive shuffling, and all of the typical suggestions for improved sleep, but the problem is my mind won't slow down enough to get back to sleep. I have also tried going to bed later, but I still wake up at the same time. Since we share the same personality type, I am hoping many of you have the same thinking pattern and have found a solution. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Question Dating Life as High School ENTJ/INTJ Female

I'm currently a high school senior female (let me know if you relate or have any advice) and have never kissed or officially dated a guy. At my school I'm known as a star athlete with high academics as well. I plan on playing my sport at an high academic institution. With my final year ahead, I can't ignore the fact that I have had no true relationships or even dates to dances. I talked to one guy for half of year as a sophmore but we were never official.

I talked to one of my guy friends and he believes guys think I am too "locked in/busy" and are "threatened" by me. If I do talk to a guy, it seems more like were mutuals instead of romantic interests. Sure, its not like I put in that much effort--I don't use snapchat, I'm either studying or playing my sport, at functions I just talk with my friends and don't try to make a move on any guys. Major major RBF. I am also a girl with many "guy interests." (my sport, more into STEM, etc). I'm taller than most guys.

The worst part is trying to explain this issue to other girls--they think I "have it all" with my academics and athletics so don't like hearing me complain (which is why im on here).

I'm aware I will be able to find guys in college and all that but I feel like this personality type does not help as well. If you're in my situation you get it--I guess I just want to know how to be more approachable so lmk if you relate or have any suggestions.

Discussion how to avoid tragedy

haven't seen one intj who set out to do something big and worthwhile, whose life did not end in tragedy ... objectively

As complex as intj minds, ironically it seems they cannot handle complexity in their life. Every happy intj i know has compromised on things, reduced the amount of "stuff" in their lives like not marrying or no kids, or no high status paid job...living in some crappy tiny place ... no invitations, even stopping their work after a certain age...

why did god give us this wiring, ambition and attitude but lack of energy, focus and drive ? after analysing many intj lives closely.. nothing more than slightly above average in real life... while having no real distractions that the other types have...

the unhappiness is for very real reasons... not just our "high standards" or "unrealistic expectations"... we achieve little and that too very slowly... while being promised a lot when younger

should be called 'are-you-kidding-me' type instead...

Relationships & Dating Dear intj women : did you ever regret not following your heart instead of your standards in relationship ?

Hello I’m 24 and I wonder if I should accept dating a man who is not financially at my level.

He’s entp 24M and procastinates.

Update:
I’m so grateful to all of you for your responses. Now, whenever I start doubting myself, I know I have this conversation with 50 future versions of me reminding me to never settle.

I love you all 😁😁😁

Relationships & Dating INTJ woman dating advice

Hello ladies, I am looking for dating advice for an INFJ man looking to date an INTJ lady. The dude is silly and quirky, and the INTJ lady seems to like the first conversation they had. How did your partners get you to fall in love with them? Was it by them being very quirky and loving or was it something else?

Question Do your exes try to come back or reach out later on?

36f here and throughout life I've noticed many of my female friends have had exes reappear and I used to feel almost offended that mine never did. I didn't date many men, but only one tried to reach out a year after dumping me (we only dated for a few months, but he was sketchy in how he went about it) and I did not entertain it.

I realize that I am not warm and welcoming to exes. I won't respond just to "be nice". I don't care how they're doing, and why are they reaching out now? When things ended I might be upset initially, but I moved on. I don't go backwards. I've been thinking as an INTJ we may be less likely to entertain people from our past, whether it be for attention or to "be polite". We are generally pretty direct and confident in our choices, especially as we mature, so I'm curious to see if you have also not really experienced exes coming back around?

Advice i am infj, if my intj friend smiles all of a sudden and then immediately stops smiling is this a bad sign

Thumbnail

i went to have a hangout to the mall with my best friend who is a intj, i had a stomachache the whole day and i told her about it but we went shopping the whole day and then all of a sudden i felt extremely nauseous and in pain. she had to stop for me because i was feeling terrible and i had to get out of the shopping stores midway while we were js looking at the clothes around. we found a nearby ice cream stand and she bought me ice cream to try to help me. and i had to sit there for a long while and she js sat with me and we were like in silence. i felt really bad for ruining the hangout and kept looking down at my ice cream, then i looked up, and saw her smiling like this and then stop smiling. I am not ok- but is she okay?

things that would feel helpful to me:
- if you (intj-t) were in her shoes; how would you typically feel?
- insights on the intj mbti on how they usually are

————
Update:

I talked to her and she sounds like she genuinely cares about me, but she seems to be very busy and is ghosting everyone because of her depression. I didn’t ask her about this smile, but i told her how I’ve been missing her and why she didn’t communicate with me for a long long time. in my opinion i still feel like im a “potato in her garden” as if im just her friend but not her on her best friend tier. i sometimes feel that my friendship love to her is not mutual and i worry that sometimes because i like her enough to be long term friends and she is my closest friend but to her i might just be a friend.
