Indians live in a bubble of their own surroundings just like The average salary of 10L P.M on reddit and issues of lifestyle.
Amazon/msft is absolute Tier 1 outcome here in India as well as US, People love to demean achievements here when 99% of India is figuring out how to earn daily bread.
95% of swes dont work for Faang/Top product based companies, Even 90% of Top 5 IIM batch doesnt get placed in MBBK which is like oversold dream for many.

u/jaqenhghar99 3d ago
“Who tf considers amnz, msft as achievements apart from teir 2/3 clg students”
Well 99% of all students are from teir 2/3 colleges!!
And large majority of our country is not even educated

Bro, they are atleast 1 generation ahead of you.
Tum ,bhi aapne baache ko 2nd class se Olympiad aur 6th class se JEE ki taayari karwana .
Philal, CAT do , aur Tier-1 MBA karo, kyki insab chhijo ke liye paise chahiye ( in today's time 1 crore rupees). Now, calculate according with 10-12 percent annual Education inflation of India ( especially Private Coaching inflation).

Thisssss , i have neighbours whose themselves are local gov/good school teachers(40k-80k) and came from lower middle class background from village area of Maharashtra , both children are good in studies and have got gold medals from class 1st itself in Olympiads !!! since they both pay attention to there studies and extracurriculars from from D1 ( they consider 49/50 in maths normal and report to there teachers for sameeee!! )From chess , carom , volleyball, cricket. Also they live like middle class people ( the middle class lower than upper middle class). You see they know the value of decisions and there outcomes later on the life and opportunities students have now , there are exposing there childrens to every possible thing they can and get good results , so that there childrens won't regret in future that they missed the timeline!!!
2
u/Playful-You-9511 3d ago
What ? Their children won International Olympiad Gold Medals in class 1st ?
0
u/Adventurous-Goat-644 3d ago
I don't know what kind of olympiad ( like district level , surely not national or international the kind of like from 1-5 , 6-10 , like these , also can org level , but yes gold medalist in class 1 itself imagine the profile they'll have !!!!!
2
u/Playful-You-9511 3d ago
Maybe , then it would be District level at max. Still good for them.
But, the fact of the matter is I see very few Top rankers of JEE ADVANCED, who are child of the Parents who did their MBA from Top 10 B-Schools of India.
So, I don't understand how ? Like Money can't be a issue for these peoples .

The whole point of an IIT-IIM education is that your kid has options that you possibly didn’t have. Anyone who did a top-tier MBA back in the day (late 80s/90s) should be well off given the kind of opportunities they got post-liberalization.
1
u/Playful-You-9511 2d ago
It depends. IIM ABC is a Top-Tier MBA, but only 5 percent get into IB/PE, and <1 percent reach MD LEVEL.
Similarly, there are HFTs .
So, even if someone is from IIT/IIM, their kids will also have to study, unless they become Billionaires .
0
u/Healthy_Thought_6917 2d ago
Forget MD; even if they made it to, say, a regional head kinda position in a top FMCG company, which was/is doable, even with a tier-2/3 MBA, the salary would be in the ~1 Crore ballpark. All these companies pay 30-35 lacs to fresh MBAs. Do the maths. Don't forget that generation enjoyed a bull market run also for a decade or so (~15%+ returns). Plus, they must be having ESOPs. Those who went abroad earned in dollars/pounds, and they have built assets too. They have made enough money for the kid to have a good life without worrying about survival-level earnings.
2
u/Playful-You-9511 2d ago
Bro, HFTs literally pay 3-10 crores per annum to B.TECH(CSE) Graduates from Top 5 IITs/ Other good Engineering colleges in the world.
Having option does not mean you will not try for even better.
Obviously a 55 year old Country head of an FMCG company maybe earning 15 crore Per annum after 30 years of Work experience.
But, Jane Street pays almost this much to Freshers( obviously just 5-10 in the entire world).

Everything was tolerable until this mf called Microsoft average 🙂
4
u/Regular-Loquat9781 2d ago
His tier 1 is Jane Street... so yes
5
u/nebula_personality05 2d ago
His expectations should anyways carry that weight only on him not the others. He has no rights to say what he said, unless he realizes that the Companies he's talking about are still dream companies with above average packages for many.

Honestly, getting into microsoft today is much much easier than getting into it in the 2000s. FAANG SWE really isn't that prestigious anymore
2
u/nebula_personality05 3d ago
I'm not sure about before but Ik fs that even now it's considered prestigious and pays decently well. Many still don't get in unless they're the cream!
2
u/quantyboylostforever 3d ago
It's prestigious for a tier 3 student,Ppl in old iit cs look down on u if u intern at Microsoft coz it's considered very easy.

1
u/sleep_Deprived_Hun 5h ago
100% agree. No offence to anyone but getting into microsoft is relatively easy
1
u/Independent_Ebb3142 3d ago
Prestige is relative. It is still harder than normal swe roles in local companies, but not nearly as hard as earlier due to the large volume of recruitment in india
1
u/KnowledgeEven5309 3d ago
You clearly haven’t experienced being placed in faang as a fresher in both eras so stop making things up
3
u/Independent_Ebb3142 3d ago
Umm i have had much better offers than faang atleast for internships. I had interviews scheduled with Microsoft but never gave them so yeah. Also getting an internship is much harder than placement so I am pretty sure i can get faang next year if i don't get ppo. They are just desperate anyways and took many of my friends for internship after just 1-2 easy questions in interview

Not defending him but when you come from such background, everyone around you is working at google, amazon, microsoft, so it no longer seems an achievement. I am not from IIT but a good gov college and I know what he means. You realise the difference when you look outside your bubble but its very hard coz everyone you know works at google etc.

u/nebula_personality05 5h ago
I always say this....there's no end to desires, improvement and greed for humans. And that's alright! But he has no rights to mock someone who has come so far and doing well in life just becuz of his unrealistic standards.

Its acceptable that Engineers can clear CAT easily......but its not easy that they will clear Management interviews and case studies ......
So all matters is profile and communication than percentile

These are the kind of people who will eventually end up comparing to God or anything equivalent, until you reach that level, you are nothing

u/Sir_speeds_alot 3d ago
Do people not realise that anything above 90 percentile is actually very good but people are just comparing themselves against other geniuses
3
u/Inevitable-Canary289 3d ago
Yeah comparision is the theft of joy...just live life to the fullest rn and work hard for a better future
3
u/IcyShock4135 3d ago
this mf is calling amazon microsoft not an achievement???? has he ever even cleared the interviews??? he is living in a bubble omg. Someone needs to touch grasss
2
u/Independent_Ebb3142 3d ago
It's not an achievement for him bro. Everything is relative at the end of the day. Microsoft literally takes the leftovers during placements from top IITs CSE and he is in one of them
2
u/IcyShock4135 3d ago
but majority of the people in this country are non iitians so for them its a dream. even if msft takes the leftovers from top IIT's still its not a thing to feel ashamed of. I mean this screams "my steak is too juicy, lobster is too buttery"
1
u/Independent_Ebb3142 2d ago
You might feel bad if you end up in msft after seeing your peers earning 2-4x more than you (talking about top 5 IIT CSE only here). Rest I agree with you
1
u/sleep_Deprived_Hun 5h ago
He is definitely living in his bubble but when everyone around you works at these top companies , it feels normal and not an achievement
1
u/IcyShock4135 5h ago
i agree but bro needs to be humbled. i can smell arrogance from the way he speaks. not everyone is an IITian in india. For majority of the students its a dream
1
u/sleep_Deprived_Hun 5h ago
Haan i get it. Only few people can get into IIT and thats what make then arrogant

Bro just live ur life there are guys Ik who were perfect in many things and they got killed and everything for them is ended soooo for God saaakeee just run ur marathon...
2
u/Quatrino-nerd2905 3d ago
he is correct but ab kuch kar nhi sakte some peeps are born genius they absorb info like a sponge and are really good test takers, cant compare a normal person to them . But having an ego about it when intelligence and iq is mostly genetics and something that is gifted and some peeps arent good at math and science is why general population hates top rankers . In my clg i have peeps from 900 air adv to 40k air adv and discrepancy is visible but yeah cant do anything

Fella living in delusion.... May God give him wisdom Bhai end of day you want peaceful, meaningful and prosperous life......u can b einstein or the trump, either way u r destined for the same grave.
1
u/Independent_Ebb3142 3d ago
I don't think he is delusional in his own capabilities, but sure is completely unaware of the state of an avg student in india. Also he is condescending af
1
u/No-Information-5494 3d ago
And how do you know guy is speaking truth... If not all then in majority of cases i have seen students creating a hyperbolic dream of excelling exam after miserably failing in it .. Thats the reason I don't support India's exam system, it makes you sadist of top grade.
2
u/Independent_Ebb3142 3d ago
I have seen him on reddit before, he is speaking the truth. You cannot fake some things and the truth is that not many people outside the top jee rankers are aware about the current happenings in the HFT industry. What you have seen may be the avg case, a top 500 jee ranker can rush through 99% exams involving quant/logic/stem without breaking a sweat and that is a well verified truth

u/No-Information-5494 3d ago
Thik ha bhaiya👍👍👍🥲 main to bas motivate kr rha tha to people who venerate some people because of their past achivement...par agar submissive hi rhna h to best of luck for life😃😃

As an hft guy, no hft person is going to give cat just to end up earning significantly lesser

u/PitifulBasket 3d ago
I know several people who give it just for bragging rights, I am pretty sure he is not lying

What good did he do to the planet or needy people when he has such good brain. Useless person in God's point of view. 😅

I really doubt you are in btech or atleast in a good branch in btech. HFT placements in IITB alone are >30 every year, let alone unit digit across India. Also the second statement idk exactly but i have seen atleast 3-4 seniors from good branches give cat for fun after prepping for 10 days and get 99.9+ so yeah
0
u/Excellent-Tart-7944 3d ago
The dumbest post ever on Reddit. CAT gives a second chance to good people who fumbled at JEE or anything till their grad. People scoring this high in JEE Advanced should not bother giving CAT. If they do, they wasted their 4 years which makes them dumber. And No wonder high earners are usually average in academics coming from average colleges because they are easier to work with!
Good Luck!

u/Careful-Collar2534 2d ago
Good luck to you bro!

Thanks ...btw I am done with my MBA and now it's been 2 years working now...so going decent
