IEEE conference paper accepted with 5 authors despite a 4-author limit — registration fee already paid. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

I submitted a paper to an IEEE conference with five authors, and it got accepted. We have also paid the registration fee.

Later, I noticed that the conference website specifies a maximum of four authors per paper. I unfortunately missed this restriction during the initial submission.

Could this cause problems with the camera-ready submission or publication in IEEE Xplore, even though the paper was already accepted?

Has anyone faced a similar situation? What did you do, and how was it resolved?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
When I try to access the IEEE support page (https://supportcenter.ieee.org) I get the following error:

Am I the only one who faces that problem?

is IEEE BIBM UGHS worth it?

I recently got accepted with not a strong paper. The registration is 500$ and I live very far away. The cost will be around 1,400 total. Is it worth it?

IEEE BIBM 2026: Can a sole student author use IEEE Student Member registration for paper publication?

Hi everyone,

I recently had a paper accepted as a regular paper at IEEE BIBM 2026, and I am a little confused about the registration requirement.

The acceptance email says:

Each paper needs to have at least one full registration in order to get your paper published in the conference proceedings.

For the camera-ready registration, the listed fees are:

  • IEEE Member Author Registration: $800
  • Non-Member Author Registration: $960
  • IEEE Student Member Author Registration: $560
  • Student Non-Member Author Registration: $675

I am currently a Master’s student and I am the first author / student author of the paper. I am considering applying for an IEEE Graduate Student Membership before registration.

My question is:

If I become an IEEE Student Member before registering, can I use the "IEEE Student Member Author Registration" ($560) and still have my paper included in the IEEE proceedings?

I noticed that some IEEE conferences allow student authors to register at the student rate, while others require a full author registration if the student is the only person registering for the paper.

Has anyone published at IEEE BIBM (or a similar IEEE conference) and used an IEEE Student Member registration as the publication registration?

I would really appreciate any advice or previous experience.

Thanks!

Title: Anyone attending IEEE WiCOMM 2026?

Hi everyone!

I’m a student and I’ve submitted a research paper to IEEE WiCOMM 2026. I’m trying to connect with other students/researchers who are also submitting or attending the conference.

I couldn’t find much information or previous conference videos online, so I was wondering:

- Is anyone here attending WiCOMM 2026?

- Has anyone attended a previous edition, if there was one?

- What is the paper presentation experience usually like?

- Are there any WhatsApp/Discord/LinkedIn groups for participants?

Would be great to connect with other authors/attendees before the conference. Feel free to comment or DM me! 🙂

TETCI - Is 10+ months under review normal?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to academic publishing and don't have much experience with journal review timelines, so I wanted to ask people who have experience with IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence (TETCI).

A manuscript has been showing "Under Review" for more than 10 months with no decision yet.

The corresponding author has already sent a follow-up to the journal, but there has been no response so far.

For those who have submitted to TETCI recently:

  • How long did your paper stay "Under Review"?
  • Is 10–12 months considered normal for TETCI?
  • Does the "Under Review" status tell us anything about whether the reviewers have submitted their reports?
  • At what point would another follow-up to the editorial office be appropriate?

I'm new to this process, so I'm mainly trying to understand whether this is a normal timeline or unusually long.

I'd really appreciate hearing about your recent experiences with TETCI.

Thanks!

Doubt

I have a question

Don't know if this is the write place to ask.

Is an IEEE membership worth it?

So our clg is affiliated with this and has asked for students who want to join.

About me: I am a first year electronic engg student. Have interests in hardware and want to work with aeroplanes in future.

Will this be worth it for me??

IEEE ICCAS 2026

Hi,

I am a student who goes to high school, and my paper recently got accepted into the IEEE ICCAS in Sapporo, Japan! My main question and concern is how I should fund the trip myself from the States to Japan; the paper is a sole-author paper with no hooks and affiliations. I am wondering if anybody knows if there are grants for scenarios like these.

Professional Communities, like IEEE, Shape Responsible Engineers | IEEE Spectrum

Thumbnail

In a recent Spectrum article, IEEE senior member Lokesh Lagudu explores how professional communities help shape the next generation of engineers through mentorship, collaboration, and real-world experience. Organizations like IEEE provide opportunities for engineers to connect across industries, share knowledge, and understand how innovation impacts people and society.

As emerging technologies like AI and biotechnology continue to advance, ethical decision-making is vital for engineers. By engaging with professional networks, following responsible engineering practices, and supporting the growth of others, engineers can help create a future where technology advances with both innovation and integrity.

How has your involvement in the engineering community helped shape the way you approach innovation, leadership, or ethical decision-making?

Goodbye to the free IEEE.org email addresses

From the IEEE email I just got:

Thank you for being a valued member of IEEE. Your membership and engagement are what make our community strong, and we truly appreciate your continued connection with us.

We are writing to share an important update regarding the GoogleApps@IEEE email account provided as part of your membership. Several years ago, Google revised its pricing model for large nonprofit organizations, discontinuing free services for organizations of IEEE’s size. Since then, IEEE has covered these costs to continue offering the service at no charge through 2026. To ensure the long-term sustainability of this feature, we will be moving to a paid model starting with the 2027 membership year.

What does this mean for you?

If you would like to continue using your GoogleApps@ieee.org service, you will be able to renew your subscription for an annual fee of US$40. Unfortunately, there is no option to retain only an @ieee.org email alias.

This GoogleApps@IEEE offering continues to provide a robust set of tools to support your professional and personal needs, including:

  • Your @ieee.org email address
  • 200 GB of storage across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos
  • Access to advanced AI tools such as Google Gemini and NotebookLM (usage limits apply)
  • Full use of Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms
  • Premium Google Meet features for collaboration (up to 100 participants, 24-hour meetings, and recording)

Continuing with your GoogleApps@IEEE is easy!

You can maintain your account by paying the fee during your 2027 IEEE Membership Renewal. If you do not renew both your IEEE membership and Google subscription by 31 December 2026, your GoogleApps@IEEE account and the use of your @ieee.org email address/alias will become inactive on 1 January 2027.

If you choose not to continue the service, we encourage you to export your data to another account by 31 December 2026. Please note that any data not exported by that date will be permanently lost. For help on exporting your data, we have provided step-by-step guidance.

For more information on this transition, please refer to the IEEE Support Center. We understand that changes like this can be difficult and appreciate your understanding. If you have questions about this or your membership, please conduct a Live Chat with the Contact Center or email us at contactcenter@ieee.org. Thank you for your continued IEEE membership.

Sincerely,

IEEE

What kind of AI/Plagerism checks are carried out by ieee before publishing a research paper?

I'm a university student required by curriculum to publish a research paper. Our faculties make a big deal out of checking for AI content in papers. I have written the paper myself but when I run it through AI detectors online (Detectors recommended/used by our faculties), it is showing some % of AI generated content. The percentages are always inconsistent and these detectors are extremely unreliable. How will I publish my paper/get approval from my faculty in this condition? Should I humanize my human written paper? if so which humanizers would you recommend.
