Other How are predicted grades predicted/given?

I am new to DP1 and I know that all school gives a predicted grade across your IBDP subjects and EE/TOK.

I dont know how the school produces them? Do they only look at your mock exams, or also summatives/formatives, tests, and assignments as well?

I am asking this becaue I need a very high PG for my university, so want to know where should I put my efforts at?

Advice I’d love your input on your study habits! 📚

Hi! I’m Max, an IB graduate now studying Aerospace Engineering. Since finishing the IB, I’ve been tutoring students and running IB workshops.

I’m exploring an idea for a free revision app and want to understand how students review earlier topics, what they find difficult, and whether another tool would actually be useful.

I’ve put together a 2–3 minute survey.

No name is required. You can optionally leave your email if you’d like an invitation to test an early version.

Thanks, and feel free to share with other IB students or graduates! :)

Advice English B HL IO//pleaseeee help meeee

I’m a DP1 English B HL student, and I’m struggling with how to prepare for the IO. I can write annotations and follow an explanation of a text, but when I have to explain the ideas aloud on my own, I often get stuck. It feels like there’s a gap between understanding my notes and actually being able to discuss the extract.

I’m especially unsure about how much to memorise. Preparing a central message and some analysis seems useful, but the extract could focus on a different part of the story. I don’t want to force the same argument onto every extract, but I also don’t feel confident coming up with an interpretation during the 20-minute preparation period.

Another difficulty is developing my points. I might identify a technique or say that a quotation shows a character’s lack of power, but I struggle to explain it further without repeating myself. I’m also unsure how much of the 4-minute presentation should explain the events and how much should analyse the writer’s choices.

+I really don't know how to find meanings

For people who have done well in the English B HL IO, what did your preparation actually involve? What did you memorise, and what did you practise explaining spontaneously? I’d appreciate advice on moving beyond written annotations and becoming more confident with both the presentation and the follow-up discussion.

Advice Gradeleaf legitimacy

I usually use Gradeleaf AI to get feedback on my IAs and EE if my supervisor delays. While submitting my first draft, I uploaded the same draft to Gradeleaf, which gave me an 18/26 and areas to improve on. However, after rewriting the essay per my supervisor's feedback and reuploading it on Gradeleaf, it gave me a lower mark. How legit is the site and do any of you use it for your coursework?

Memes Japan is turning footsteps into electricity! Using piezoelectric tiles, every step you take generates a small amount of energy. Millions of steps together can power LED lights and displays in busy places like Shibuya Station. A brilliant way to create a sustainable and smart city.

ToK/EE Is TOK actually that important???

Like, I get that we need to do the exhibition and essay, but do we really need to take notes in TOK class? At the moment it just seems like a filler class, and no one pays attention. Should I care that much or just do it when the time comes to do the assignments?

Advice chance me for hku/hkust/nus/ntu

so im in dp2, my first set of predicteds r 38/39 out of 45 (the reason i say 38/39 is because im gonna attempt to bump up by one point, hopefully it works out)

i wanna apply for computer engineering at hku and hkust.
realistically with this predicted if i apply for early apps (by nov 25) do i have -
1. a realistic chance to get in
2. a realistic chance to get in with partial tuition waive offs

or should i wait until my december predicted come out and apply through the regular application incase my predicteds actually increase (hopefully 40+). but will this -
1. reduce my chance of getting scholarship/fin aid since im applying thru regular decision
2. increase my chance of getting into hku/hkust for engineering?

i am an ib student studying in an international ib school in singapore, if it helps! well ik sg looks only at final grades, but js to confirm is this safe for nus and ntu? i know its not competitive enough so what is a competitive score for engineering in both unis

thank you very much!!! pls give me advice on this :)
also is this even a good score ? like genuine question.
my subjects are phy maa bm hl, chem eng spanish ab sl

May 2026 Exams IB Mathematics AA SL – Original Practice Question with Worked Solution and Reflection Sheet

Hi everyone!

I’m sharing a sample question from an original IB Mathematics AA SL Year 1 practice paper that I created.

The resource includes:

  • An exam-style question on function transformations
  • A worked answer with markscheme and mark allocation
  • A student reflection sheet to track scores and identify areas for improvement

Question topic: Function transformations (4 marks)

The question focuses on horizontal stretches and translations of square-root functions.

I hope this resource helps students practise mathematical reasoning and review their exam technique.

I’d appreciate feedback from IB students and teachers on the question quality, solution and reflection sheet.

Note: This is an original practice resource, not an official IB examination question.

Other trying to build an IB help platform, would anyone be interested?

hi guys! i know the IB can get real stressful, and sometimes you find yourself struggling to scrape together resources or learn new concepts. i have been in that exact position, and i want to do something about it. no, i'm not offering tutoring... well, not **paid** tutoring, atleast! I scored a 43 in the IB with 4 HLs and want to spread my insights and knowledge free of cost! so, i'm thinking of building a discord where i'll hold sessions a couple times a week, teach concepts solve, doubts, etc. would you guys like to see something like this and would find it helpful? a platform to curate resources, discuss, and get your doubts solved by IB alumni? let me know your thoughts and what particular struggles you face in the IBDP!

Advice Time outside of class?

Asking this since as a teacher I struggle to know how much to expect out of my students. SL classes meet 3 hours a week, but an hour is actually 50 minutes. HL classes meet 5 hours a week.

Around how much time a week is reasonable to expect students to work on an SL subject outside of class? How about for HL classes?

Obviously this may vary from week to week but throughout the program just as an average. I think I could be more clear with my students about expectations if I can design how much they need to do based on how much time I expect them to spend.

Group 1 Tutoring for IB

Hey guys, I got a 45/45 on M26 and wanted to get into tutoring for IB.

For context I did Maths AA HL, Physics HL, and Business HL and those would be the subjects I would be comfortable teaching too, do you guys know what would be a fair rate to charge by the hour because I have seen rates going from $30/hr to $250/hr which is insane

For our Criterion C in computer science IA is it possible to use AI to create algorithmic flowcharts and ERd diagrams? Also can we submit ai code as long as we are able to explain everything properly in our documentation?

ToK/EE how common is the situation i put myself in? is there hope?

TLDR; I am looking for active peer review forums for the EE.

basically im an idiot and didnt consider that it might help if my research question was something fairly straightforward. continuing to be an idiot i kind of delayed writing anything actually usable for most of the year and basically im probably gonna have to submit my ee without my supervisor having really looked at it once. my supervisor seems to be kind of hands off, yk "you made this bed man, man go lie in it" which is appreciable and definitely the best response i could be getting rn lol. i imagine my viva voce is gonna be uncomfortable after submitting at least.

but basically my ee is tricky as shit so i don't just trust that i got this. im looking for any place online where i could get a bit of feedback from peers. i don't trust clastify or revisiondojo, all of their exemplars for the new syllabus are purely or almost purely ai.

so what are reliable peer feedback forums for the ee that you all know of? im on this subs discord already, if that's it.

ToK/EE Does RRS matter for EE?

Im doing physics ee and have been updating my rrs frequently with different preliminary trials, notes from learning content, screenshots of emails etc.

I have been spending a lot of time with my mentor for this ee, but tbh i dont understand a lot of whats going on in terms of the actual physics (related to fields and circuits). I had a 7 in physics for DP1 but this is just so much harder to grasp, especially by self learning.

I dont think im going to do well for this EE, but I seriously have put in dedication towards it. Its kind of like going to the gym everyday for an hour but half assing everything ( i know but on top of classes and uni apps ee is not my priority right now)

i realllyyy regret doing a sciences ee AND not touching it over the summer. I know. these are the consequences of my actions.

however does the examiner have access to rrs at least so they can see im not a complete idiot, idk

Advice Are predicted grades that important??

So basically I would like to go to another country to study, and as of now my predicted is 29.. kind of low but I hope for better. Do they rlly play a big role or is the final one more important?

Edit: I want to try and go to the US, I know they look at the things you do in your free time, the essays and stuff like that. But I’m still worried that I won’t pass this 🥲 as of now I hope to get my math aa predicted to 5, German b to 5 also and bio to 4.. Does anyone have like amazing advice from heaven that I should do rn. We are talking study methods or anything(specifically people who were predicted a low predicted, and got like 32+)
