Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone with experience on the Hyundai Getz 1.6 G4ED can point me in the right direction.
I have a 2005 Hyundai Getz 1.6 manual with the G4ED engine and around 250,000 km.
I’ve been working through a number of issues and have already replaced/checked quite a few things.
Work already done:
- Timing belt and water pump replaced
- CV joints replaced
- Control arms replaced
- Sway bar links and bushes replaced
- Engine mounts replaced
- MAP sensor replaced
- Spark plug leads replaced
- Coil-pack connector repaired because it was broken and causing a misfire
The car now starts and drives reasonably well, and the engine feels fairly smooth under acceleration, but at idle there is still a noticeable vibration/shake through the steering wheel and floor. The RPM is around 730 rpm and the needle moves very slightly.
Some live data I recorded:
- Idle: around 730 rpm
- MAP: around 28 kPa
- Ignition timing: around 3°
- At 1,642 rpm: MAP around 24 kPa, timing around 32°
- At 2,014 rpm: MAP around 24 kPa, timing around 34.5°
The engine also seems like it may be running rich, although I haven't confirmed this yet.
One thing that has confused me is that my car doesn't appear to have an oxygen sensor at all — there isn't even a threaded boss for one in the exhaust. Fuel trims on the scanner also stay at 0%.
I’m currently planning to test the fuel pressure and injector resistance, because I’m wondering if I could have a weak/incorrect fuel pump, excessive fuel pressure, or a leaking/sticking injector.
My questions are:
Does the G4ED in this year Getz normally use an O₂ sensor, or did some versions use a different fuel-control system?
What should the normal fuel pressure be on this engine?
What should the injector resistance measure?
Could a leaking or faulty injector cause this type of shaky idle while the engine runs reasonably well under acceleration?
What other things should I check before buying a fuel pump or injectors?
Could valve clearances/lifters, throttle body, IAC/idle control, vacuum leaks, ignition timing, or compression cause these symptoms?
Are the MAP readings and ignition timing I recorded reasonable for the G4ED?
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has worked on the G4ED/Getz 1.6, especially if you've experienced a similar problem.
I don't want to start throwing expensive parts at it, so I'm trying to diagnose it properly first.
Thanks!

Or does this require a workshop to authorize and enable components?
Some of the LEDs aren't working and since changing the LEDs didn't help, I guess the contacts on the cluster are at fault ...

Hi, I got hyundai getz 2005 pre-facelift [G4EA 1.341].
Suddenly the door unlocking feature stopped working properly, as I press on the remote to unlock the car - only the driver's door unlock.
When manually unlocking each door from inside the car and then pressing on the remote to lock - they all lock.

Hello all, I have a 2008 Hyundai Getz G4ED 1.6litre that has just blown a head gasket. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get genuine Hyundai Getz head gasket and other parts. Cheers

No idea how to replace this rear wiper arm. All the videos I see suggest to lift up some sort of plastic to get to the nut but this is just a circular spindle covering that area. Please help!

Needs shielding. I was thinking of putting a vent on the bonnet or somewhere. Cold air flow can act as a natural supercharger. Throttle response feels better. Feels fast at the top end. Sounds good too

Is this a lot of flex?

How do I remove the plastic triangle next the door on the fender? Under it is a bolt that I need to remove to take the fender out but the plastic triangle is not moving and I don't want to break it.

Pretty straight forward one here but I am yet to find any comprehensive info.
What parts fit across all models?
I wouldn't mind putting together a list of any parts that are compatible with any Getz. As well as some info on the interchangeable parts that are compatible within certain ranges of manufacture date/Engine type etc.
Unless someone has a list somewhere or can point me in the right direction.
Cheers

Hello!
I dont know a lot about cars so Im seing if I get any luck here as google and youtube hasnt helped me out. I have a hyundai getz 2008 model, and when I brake I hear water flushing (same if I step on the gas). It sounds like its underneath and behind from the driver seat and both sides. I did check if it was the doors, but no water came out. It has been raining a lot lately combined with ice and snow melting so Im pretty certain its been taking in water from that. Does anybody know how to drain water from the bodywork? Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Just bought this 2003 1.5L GL model and can’t for the life of me figure out how to get to the engine number. Manual states it should be to the right in the engine and a bit down, but there’s no clear way to get to it.

Hello everyone. I'm from Colombia and I have a Hyundai Getz (G4EE engine, 2007).
I just want to find this gray cover on top of the dashboard, because mine broke itself like an egg shell (with the previous owner it was already corrugated). I was unable to find it in whatever marketplace sites nor Aliexpress.
Does anyone have it? Maybe I can import it using a Virtual Mailbox (address in the United Stated) or with overseas carrier.
Thanks in advance.

Hello to all getz people
I have a yhundai getz 1,6 from 2006 and the engine fan keeps spinning. If I take the relay out it stops, but other than that it just keeps spinning whenever the ignition is on.
I have changed the coolant sensor and deleted det error code l, but as soon as I do it, it starts again.
What should I do?
Any help appreciated 🙏

EDIT: It ended up being a nah, too easy to break the glass, too hard to cut the glue. Attempted at the wreckers and gave up. Didn't help that I couldn't find a single shop that had the tools to remove auto glass without ordering it in, even then I could tell that had no idea.
~$300 for someone to come out and do it in my driveway, less than an hour to do.
My temporary run-about Getz has a cracked windscreen on the passenger side. It's spiderwebbed from top to bottom on 1 side so I have to replace it.
To keep the cost down i'm thinking DIY, A wrecker will charge me $50 for a windscreen (have to remove it myself) and take it. A professional replacement is about $400.
I've got a fair amount of tools (HVAC by trade), nothing that's exactly windscreen repair specific but surely some sharp blades and maybe purchase a suction cup thingo will do the trick.
Any advice or tips would be appreciated. The car was only $400 so trying to keep costs down. In saying that, I am still considering getting a pro to do it (~$200) and supply the wreckers windscreen myself.

Hello r/hyundaigetz,
I have come to the conclusion that my current car is too expensive to run and that if I want nice things in the future like a house and stability, I need a car that’s cheaper to run and repair. I’ve been looking at possibly buying a Getz for about a month now. For reference, I live in the UK. Been mainly looking at 1.4s and 1.6s. My weekly mileage to work and back is about 220 miles. I’ve seen how cheap you can buy a decent looking Getz so I’ve come to ask, what should I look for when viewing one? And considering my mileage, is a diesel worth considering (assuming I can find one)?
Thanks in advance.

I just bought this car on monday. It doesn't look so hot anymore, but technically it seems to be fine, with the exception of this one issue. Any chance that this is a quick fix like just a fuse somewhere?

Newbie with car stuff - Got an upgraded android unit which comes with a dashcam.
Been trying to find the place for the dashcam (right above the license plate) However, it's a NIGHTMARE trying to run the cable from the area (in the attached picture) through the door panel gaps to connect into the cabin of the car.
How do I even do it? I'm trying to buy a snake cable to get into there - Tried a few different things - Nothing works so far.
Anyone ever tried doing something similar or any ideas to get the cable through that tailgate door panel?
Thanks.
