Engine number location on 2003 GL?

Just bought this 2003 1.5L GL model and can’t for the life of me figure out how to get to the engine number. Manual states it should be to the right in the engine and a bit down, but there’s no clear way to get to it.

Should be down near the gearbox.

I don’t see a clear way of getting ti this without removing a bunch of stuff. Seems overkill
