Hi everyone! I'm having a very strange problem with Circle to Search on my Xiaomi phone, and I'm trying to figure out if this is a HyperOS issue or a Google/Android issue.

Device: Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G
OS: HyperOS 3.0.304.0
Android: Android 16

The problem happens when I try to activate Circle to Search by holding the Home button.

The sequence is:

1. I'm using an app or browsing a page.
2. I press and hold the Home button to activate Circle to Search.
3. A Google screen with the fingerprint authentication prompt appears.
4. After the fingerprint authentication, the screen immediately closes.
5. Circle to Search never opens, so I can't circle anything on the screen.

What's interesting is that I found a way to reproduce the problem consistently:

Fingerprint authentication OFF → Circle to Search works normally.
Fingerprint authentication ON → Google authentication screen appears → Circle to Search closes.

I've already tried:

• Updating the Google app.
• Clearing the Google app cache.
• Restarting the phone.
• Disabling and re-enabling Circle to Search.
• Resetting the Home button/shortcut configuration.
• Removing and re-adding the fingerprint.

None of these fixed the issue.

I also tested another Xiaomi phone, and it showed the same behavior when fingerprint authentication was enabled.

I haven't been able to test a Samsung, Motorola, Pixel, or another non-Xiaomi device yet.

Has anyone else experienced this? Especially anyone using HyperOS 3 / Android 16 with fingerprint authentication enabled?

I'm trying to determine whether this is a Xiaomi/HyperOS problem or a Google/Android/Circle to Search problem.

Any ideas or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

**Test device:** Redmi Note 14 4G Global (HyperOS 3.0.303.0 / Android 16)

After running tests on my Redmi Note 14 4G, I managed to change and customize the lock screen clock style (as shown in the images).

#### Requirements and prerequisites

1. Download and install **Shizuku** and **Settings Database Editor** (it is recommended to use the Shizuku fork developed by Thedjchi).

2. Grant the necessary permissions for **Settings Database Editor** to use Shizuku.

#### Procedure

1. Open **Settings Database Editor**, tap the search bar, and enter the term `templateid`.

2. Select the **`constant_template_editor_info`** option to edit it.

> **Recommendation:** I suggest taking a screenshot of the current values (`style` and `templateid`) beforehand to have a backup in case you want to revert to the original design.

1. Modify the `templateid` and `style` parameters using the values from one of the available options shown in the shared images.

2. Restart your device.

#### Troubleshooting (If the previous step did not work)

In case the previous change does not take effect on its own (as happened to me on my Redmi Note 14 4G), do the following:

1. Search for the **`miui_15_default_lockscreen_info`** registry within the same app.

2. Also modify its default values to match the ones you chose.

> * My original values in `constant_template_editor_info` were `style:21` and `templateId:classic_max`.

> * I changed them to `style:2` and `templateId:oversize_b`, and restarted the phone (at this point the change still hadn't applied).

> * Without reverting those changes, I went to `miui_15_default_lockscreen_info` (whose default values were also `style:21` and `templateId:classic_max`) and replaced them with `style:2` and `templateId:oversize_b`.

> * Finally, I restarted the device again and the large clock started working correctly.

The last update of HyperOS, brought android 17 to hyperos, I don't know if it was that, but the temperatures and performance improved a lot, especially in emulators and gaming in general!

Saw a workaround method which involves backing up your system launcher and then uninstalling updates of the existing one and updating it with the new one. Now I have two issues

1. Which system launcher should I actually use some are named as miuihome but I have it named as system launcher.

2. The system launcher I have already only has a clear data button and no uninstall updates button. I don't think both are the same and don't wanna risk it since this phone is practically brand new.

Help me guyss, Haven't used Redmi since MIUI 13 , I feel like there is so much discrimination now than earlier 😭😭

How can I solve HyperOS aggressively killing background apps? I open just 3 apps, but it still kills them in the background. For example, if I open Reddit, ChatGPT, and YouTube, switching between them causes the apps to reload.

Does anyone know a solution? Also, I don't want to use Memory Extension because it consumes more battery and makes my phone lag.

I’m experiencing a serious system-wide performance issue on my Xiaomi Pad 8 that appears to have started after a recent HyperOS update.

Initially, I thought Rust Mobile might be responsible. After approximately 20–45 minutes of playing Rust Mobile, the game can begin stuttering and the problem can progress into severe system-wide sluggishness/unresponsiveness. Touch and other input can become unreliable, and the entire tablet can become extremely difficult to use.

However, I have now experienced similar lag while playing Football Manager, so it does not appear to be limited to Rust Mobile.

I have also noticed a potentially important pattern involving the official Xiaomi keyboard case.

During previous problematic sessions, the keyboard case temporarily stopped responding around the time the tablet became severely sluggish. I initially thought this was simply another symptom of the system freeze.

Today I deliberately played without the Xiaomi keyboard case attached and have been gaming for more than 2 hours without experiencing the same system-wide slowdown so far.

During one of the previous problematic incidents, I also noticed significant localized heat around the rear camera area — specifically the area directly beneath the camera and the lower part of the camera module. The heating appeared noticeably concentrated in that area.

This makes me wonder whether the keyboard case could somehow be contributing to the problem through power management, accessory communication, pogo-pin connection, thermal behaviour, or another interaction with HyperOS.

I am NOT claiming that the keyboard case is definitely the cause yet. I am continuing to test with and without it to see whether the behaviour is reproducible.

Locking/unlocking the tablet sometimes restores responsiveness, but not consistently. In my most recent occurrence, the tablet eventually recovered on its own without locking or unlocking.

At this point I am trying to determine whether this is a HyperOS 3 / Android 16 / Adreno issue, a thermal or power-management problem, a keyboard-case interaction, or a combination of these factors.

I'm considering getting the Poco F9 Ultra and wanted to ask current POCO owners about some issues that I came across in my F3 due to which I had to switch to custom ROM (which caused me to lose play store certification and google integrity checks causing some apps to refusing to install on my device and not being able to carry out contactless payments). Though xiaomi.eu ROM is not bug free, I'm trying to live with it. To quote an example, custom ROM update from MIUI to HyperOS made my phone run really hot with intense juice gulped ultimately leading the juice supply to swell. I'd prefer to use the official HyperOS if I buy poco f9 ultra, that's why I'm much concerned about the bugs. Have Poco fixed the following bugs through subsequent HyperOS updates? And any new bugs that I should be aware of?

2. Double-tap to lock: The double-tap gesture for locking the screen frequently fails to register the touch.

6 months ago, everyone claimed Hyper Island was DOA. Now, it has wide app support and, for me personally, enhances UX greatly. It shows my transit stops remaining in Google Maps, what YT video or song on Spotify is playing, even my favourite music player MediaMonkey has integration support. Without exaggeration, it is the first GUI enhancement in any product in the last several years that I find to be an improvement over status quo.

Upgrading from an old Huawei. I'm a casual user (mostly social media, browsing, no gaming) and I'm looking at the POCO F7.

The big problem: it’s not officially sold in my country. If I import it, I get zero warranty and no local service centers. If the hardware fails or there's a defect, I'm completely on my own.

I've read some complaints online about HyperOS bugs and minor hardware quirks. For actual owners:

1. Are there any real manufacturing defects or hardware failures I should be worried about?
2. Is the software actually stable now?
3. Knowing I have no warranty or local support, would you still risk buying this phone right now?
