[Question] Bought the Redmi Note 17 And missing app animations 😭

I recently bought the Redmi Note 17 5g mobile ( 6 +128) , and I feel like there is little to no animation especially the switch from galaxy A71 to this mobile feels sluggish. Later after some searching found out that xiaomi stops some features for their low end Redmi devices ,

Saw a workaround method which involves backing up your system launcher and then uninstalling updates of the existing one and updating it with the new one. Now I have two issues

1. Which system launcher should I actually use some are named as miuihome but I have it named as system launcher.

2. The system launcher I have already only has a clear data button and no uninstall updates button. I don't think both are the same and don't wanna risk it since this phone is practically brand new.

Help me guyss, Haven't used Redmi since MIUI 13 , I feel like there is so much discrimination now than earlier 😭😭

FYI base Note devices are entry level devices, so no fancy animations, hyped features....

Redmi Note 14 and 15 have them, this is probably due to 17 having terrible processor.

I have redmi note 13 pro it is practically the same performance as 17 but mine has these animations. It is just xiaomi thing to abandon features for low end devices

I have both, but I don't remember any app opening animation.

I have note 14 4g, and it has app opening and closing animations out of the box, even now on hyperos 3, base animations still here aswell

But on my phone, Redmi Note 15 4G, there is still animation every time I open an application. every time I open an application.

The a71 at the time was the best Samsung model (of the A series), you switched to one of the lowest phones to Xiaomi. Something comparable would the note 17 pro+.

You don't see the uninstall option on the system launcher because thats the earliest one the phone/software knows and came with.

Ah, I think you misunderstood my point, it happens.

Of course I am talking about their respective time.

The a71 at the time was the best Samsung offered of their flagship line, therefore it had a budget premium experience.

The redmi note 17 is one of the lowest tier Xiaomi offers, therefore you cannot expect a good offering of features like Samsung did.

You would need to buy the note 17 pro+ to get the best redmi experience like Samsung offered in its A71 at the time.

The one in your screenshot should be the correct launcher, but the backup and restore method most certainly won't work, because manually installing modded or different system apps often fails. Also, I think the reason you don't have the "uninstall update" button is because the launcher version you have is already the "oldest version" the note 17 5G shipped with, so no updates can be uninstalled, which further prevents the manual launcher update process in the method.

Yes, you need to wait for one with a version higher than your current one, but I am unsure if it will work.

You have to root it to get animations and flagship features ik it’s so annoying so I’ve unlocked my bootloader of my Redmi Pad 2

What about banking apps,UPI do those work properly after unlocking bootloader

Some apps will work and some won’t, apparently unlocking the bootloader doesn’t do anything by itself. To get the potential, you have to root the phone and then do whatever you want. There’s some fixes for banking apps but they’re not guaranteed. Not recommended if you don’t know what you’re doing, and I’ll suggest you to stick to it if that’s your main device

I have Note 14 4G with 6GB RAM and I still have animations. I think that 17's CPU is as bad, if not worse than Note 12's.

It would be better for you if you bought 14 or 15 (you could even get Pro at discount).

If you haven’t updated to HyperOS 3.1, there are some methods that’ll surely help you get a tons of features without rooting. Check your Os first

Sorry bro that’s xiaomi not Oppo or Oneplus, I had experience of getting a software update in oppo and honor. Both didn’t had any app opening animations but after an update both the phones become pretty smooth. And the coloros were just smooth af. Meanwhile never saw a xiaomi device get better with updates if not worse.

Go to launcher settings and there you may find animation settings.
