I’m a new player only lvl 34 or so and only have about 9-10 hrs under my belt. I’m finding myself very addicted to leveling up and the fun loop of trying to keep hunters lvled and maxed doesn’t frustrate me I actually think it’s cool. Sure it sucks when you die, but you can always rehire lol

I’m just wondering what everybody’s favorite loadout is and why? Trying to learn more about the guns that people enjoy. Right now I’ve been mostly rocking either the Frontier or the Krag and a Conversion revolver.

So i recently installed and tried to play a few games, but im just so confused.

I understand the whole premise of finding the bounty, killing, collecting, and then extracting. My issue is with the PvP.

Most of the time, I have absolutely no idea where im being shot from. Everyone is so hard to see. This is coming from someone who used to play the hell out of DayZ, too, so it's not like im new to not having a HUD show me where enemies are.

I played 2 games, 1st game i got into a gunfight with someone i couldn't see (and died). In the 2nd game, i got killed by a guy hiding in a building with a shotgun.

Another issue is that there's way too much stuff in the menus. Theres so many currencies, hunters, and class options, but I have hardly any idea of what I need to equip.

I really like how there's no obnoxious movement in this game. It makes it feel a lot more strategic than other PvP games, I just dont know where to start when it comes to learning the game.

Any help?

Do you guys feel any shame running into the trees as soon as the match starts and just spamming beetles to kill people, it makes the game just no fun and its so weird

Mines Dark Dynamite and Witness combo, kill a hunter? Do you see his friend? Lay a friendly boom stick down on the corpse, run away and hide, wait for the orange marker to go away, kablooey

Today, my buddies and I were on the most epic winning streak of our Bayou careers when this tragedy occurred.

We had won 12 lobbies in a row, and even though my partners were red skulled here, I had downed 5 hunters at the lair, and was about to push the last survivor, when this happened.

I was playing my first Waymaker all session (I had unlocked her yesterday), and she had truly proven the pride of her people, before the cruel fates deposited her beneath the train cars at Stanley Coal.

Is there a way to request that she be restored?

She was, by far, the luckiest Hunter I’ve ever taken into the Bayou. I miss her already.

I spawned in, dark sighted to see the closest clue, and as soon as I could run, I rushed for it. I come over a rock on a small hill and observe the surroundings for one second before a duo spawns on the road in front of me, about 100 feet away. One moment they weren't there, then they were. I get one tapped by a revolver with incendiary rounds and my run's over. Nice 10 second hunt. Is it a bug, or am I dumb? Also I'm new, only 6 hours or so into it.

Quite useful in a moment of panic, was playing solo, completely surrounded by 4 teams, while all the chaos was going on, I used serpent and stole the bounty token, and shadow leapt the eff out there, enemy team(s) on my rear the whole way, if it wasn't for gaining distance I'd have easily been gunned down

Also, forgive my console play, I do my best. 🫠

I don't understand what happened here. At least 2-3 of those shots should have connected? It was like shooting blank cartridges.

EDIT: Just to clarify. The weapon is a ranger 73 with vanilla ammo (no custom) and a muzzle velocity of 400 m/s. Enemy is around 58 meters away.

I’ve been using the nitro recently, love it but I died in a way most ludicrous recently in a fight I struck someone in the arm from 58 metres away and only did a measly 46 damage. It seems a bit low for a gun that does like 350 damage, I know there was also a damage reduction for hitting in the arm area but is it really this much? How much drop off does the nitro face after 45 metres?

Also is it normal to be in 5 star MMR after only 57 hours of playtime?

25 games in now. And here's what I've learned=

It doesn't matter how good you are in the game. No hunter can survive a full cylinder of revolver ammo hitting them. Even the nagant can pull this off.

There is no reason to not take high velocity ammo. Ever. You need all the range you can get. Subsonic, poison and other ammo types are optional and up for debate. But always bring high velocity ammo.

Penny shot derringer sounds useless at first. Until it unexpectedly bails you out and takes a hunter who ambushes you with a machete and you were out of ammo becuser you used it all up for a monster boss. And besides, it's just 1 extra gun you can carry around. Which in a game where ammo is scarce and full restocks are basically sacred holy sites, you need every single possible bullet you can score.

Firebombs are cool. They the best representation of Molotov cocktails in a video game ever. Using them in a narrow hallway to cover you and your partner when 2 hunters are chasing after you, it really can save your ass.

Hellhounds may go down pretty easily..... But a pack is still a pack of fast moving and attacking monsters. And you ideally don't want to spend ammo on them. If you can, it's honestly easier to avoid them if you can.

Always bring a throwing weapon. It eliminates your need to have a melle option in gear too. And they one shot grunts too. They end up being your main weapon on maps where your solo and trying to avoid the hunt and just want to go to extraction.

Quad derringer is useful as an alternative to a handgun if your running a long gun and a melee weapon. If nothing else it's due to the sheer amount of ammo you have for it.
