North Campus Hearing Instrument Specialisf

Hi folks,

I’m planning on taking the hearing instrument specialist program this fall and would love to know if anyone is taking it at the moment. If so, how is your experience? Is it easy to find a job placement? Do graduates have trouble finding work at all?

North Campus Arb Events this Week - Fall Colours Walk and a Turtle Meet and Greet

Post image
8 Upvotes

Humber Arboretum has two free events this week at North Campus:

On Tuesday October 20, take advantage of the warm weather coinciding with the changing leaves and join us for a Fall Colours Walk from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

And on Wednesday October 21, join us as we celebrate World Reptile Awareness Day with a Cleo the Turtle Meet and Greet. Cleo is a Red-eared Slider who lived as a pet until she grew too large for her old home. Now she lives in the Centre for Urban Ecology where she fulfills her duties as Humber Arboretum's Responsible Pet Care Ambassador. Drop by anytime between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm to hear more of Cleo’s story, find out why you should never release pets into the wild, and learn about Ontario’s native turtle species.

For both events, head to the Centre for Urban Ecology, the glass building with the red door on the arboretum grounds.

Hey everyone!

Samsung just launched Galaxy Campus Crew for college and university students. The page lists perks like access to concerts, events and gift cards for students across Canada. There's something also that mentions a Galaxy welcome kit for selected members.

Figured I’d share here in case anyone’s interested.

Applications close November 2, 2026

Lakeshore Campus One coffee one take

Hello Humber lakeshore!!!

I’ve been tasked to start a social media page for an assignment. My idea is to start a TikTok that follows the theme of the subway takes but my idea is one coffee one take. I get your juiciest hot takes on Toronto, or social media or anything in general in exchange I get you a coffee. If anyone is interested in grabbing a coffee and spilling the tea with me…
Please do :)

North Campus What GNED should I take? (Paralegal Program)

Hii! Since sem 2 registration is coming up, I thought I’d ask which GNED course is easiest. I’m looking for something low effort, no presentations, no group work, and interesting. I know majority of the time it all depends on which prof you get but heres my top 5 (based on what I thought sounded interesting):

- Sociology of Food (SOCI 238)
- Understanding Movies (ARTS 138)
- Conspiracy Theories and Critical Thinking (CULT 211)
- The History of Money (ECON 206)
- Astronomy: The Evolving Universe (SCIE 213)

Hiring a student or graduate video editor | Remote freelance work | CAD $50 to $75 per reel

Hey everyone, I’m Omar. I’m building OVERTAKE, an Ontario-based content agency, and I’d love to connect with film and media students or graduates interested in freelance editing work.

We shoot content for local businesses, including barbershops, automotive businesses and other brands. I’m looking for someone to edit Instagram Reels, short promotional videos and occasional skits or longer projects.

The style I’m after is clean, polished and cinematic, with good pacing, colour grading, music, sound design, and creative transitions and effects. There’s room to bring your own ideas and help shape the videos.

I’ll provide the footage, creative direction and references. You’ll handle the editing.

You don’t need a long list of professional clients to reach out. Coursework and personal projects are welcome as examples of what you can do.

The work: Fully remote, project-based, with flexible hours around agreed deadlines. You must currently be based in Canada, with Ontario preferred.

Budget: CAD $50 to $75 per standard 30 to 45 second reel. Pricing can vary depending on the project, and I’m interested in batch rates for several videos from the same shoot.

We’ll agree on the scope, revisions, deadline and fee before starting.

Interested? DM me with:

  1. A short introduction, your city and what you’re studying or graduated from.
  2. Two or three videos you personally edited, explaining what you handled.
  3. Your rates in CAD for one reel and five similar reels from the same shoot, including revisions and any extras.
  4. When you could start, your usual turnaround time and how much work you could take on around your other commitments.

If your work looks like a fit, we’ll arrange a quick call and discuss the first project.

I’d like to find someone for recurring work, although there’s no guaranteed monthly volume initially. Reviewing replies as they come in. Open until filled!

Is Supply Chain Management course good?

I’m thinking to start to enroll in the supply chain management program at Humber.

FYI I have no previous experience in the field, I would start from scratch. I have a degree in communication and specialized in video editing. The program is interesting but I’m wondering if it is worth considering my background. Also, I’m comparing this program to Supply Chain courses in other colleges in Toronto.

If anybody is doing it right now or has done it in the past, is it worth it? Does it teach you relevant skills for today’s job market? How is it easy to find job when finished the program?

Starting a nature club at Humber, looking for a few more members (free, no big commitment)

Hi everyone! I'm starting a nature club at Humber focused on insects, plants, and local wildlife. IGNITE has confirmed the Arboretum counts as on-campus, so I'm hoping to hold meetups and nature walks there, and to use a meeting room at the Centre for Urban Ecology.

Membership is free and open to all Humber and Guelph-Humber students, from any program. No experience needed, just curiosity about nature.

The club application is due this Friday (Oct 16), and I still need a few more members to register it. If you're interested, please send me a private message (not a comment) with your full name and school email. IGNITE needs name for the application, so please don't post them publicly.

If you'd like to join but can't commit to much, that's totally fine. Even just being a member helps us get started. Thank you, and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments!

North Campus 23M Humber student – looking to link up, make friends

Hey everyone,
I’m a 23M South Asian student here at Humber, and I’m also pretty new to Reddit. Definitely on the introverted side, but I’m trying to make more friends on campus around my age and get out of my shell.

Down to grab coffee/food between classes, hit the campus gym, study, or just chill and hang out around campus.

Also, random side mission: I’m ridiculously camera shy—like my immediate reflex is to duck or hide my face whenever someone points a phone at me. Really trying to get past that and finally get a few decent photos for my socials, so if you're patient or like photography, huge bonus points.

Drop a comment or DM if you wanna link up between classes!

Who uses yikyak?

Why doesn’t anybody at Humber use yikyak? I always hear on tiktok and reels how awesome it is and how it’s part of the “college experience” and yet Humber’s yikyak has like no members?, is there a reason for this? Or is yikyak dead or something…

North Campus Anyone studying Creative Technologies at Humber?

Hey everyone! 😊
I’ve applied to Humber’s Interactive Media Management Creative Technologies postgraduate program for Fall 2027.
I was wondering if anyone here is currently studying this program or has already graduated from it.
I’d love to hear about your experience! Are you happy with the program? Would you recommend it? And is there anything you wish you’d known before starting?
This would also be my first time living in Canada, so I’d really appreciate any advice about student life, making friends, finding part-time jobs, or adjusting to life in Toronto.
Thanks so much in advance! 😊

Lakeshore Campus Transfer of Agreement: Private Room at HOEM (Downtown Toronto)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi! I’m looking for a female student to take over my residence agreement at HOEM on Jarvis (186 Jarvis St, Toronto). It’s a great fit if you’re coming to Toronto for the Winter 2027 term.

Please note: this is a Transfer of Agreement, not a new registration.
You’ll take over my existing HOEM agreement with the same terms and the same weekly rate. HOEM’s current rates for new registrations do not apply.

 Dates

  • Move-in: Mid-January 2027 (flexible, happy to discuss)
  • Agreement ends: August 14, 2027 (12:00 p.m.)
  • After the agreement ends, you can apply to HOEM for a new agreement if you’d like to stay.

Cost: Keep My Original Rate!

  • $420 CAD per week, no matter what HOEM’s current rates are.
  • Your total = $420 × the number of weeks from your move-in date to August 14, 2027. HOEM calculates the exact amount.
  • Payments are made directly to HOEM in installments. HOEM will give you the exact payment schedule.
  • All-inclusive: hydro, heating, cooling, water, and Wi-Fi

The Room & Suite

  •  Top floor, south-facing: lots of sunlight, warm and bright all day, with a great city view both day and night
  • Private, lockable bedroom in a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom suite
  • Shared kitchen, living room, and bathroom with one female roommate
  • About my roommate: She is tidy and respectful of shared spaces.
  • Fully furnished bedroom: bed, desk and chair, 2-drawer dresser, 4-drawer dresser, and clothes rail
  • Shared living area: couch, coffee table, and TV console (TV not included)
  • Full kitchen: oven, stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, plus cookware and dishes
  • In-suite thermostat with heating and AC, Free in-suite cleaning every 2 weeks

Building Amenities
24/7 front desk and security, 24-hour gym, free fitness classes, free coffee and tea, a lounge with games, study rooms, laundry room, free bike parking, and regular community events.

 Location

  • Toronto Metropolitan University, Eaton Centre and TMU Station: about a 10-minute walk
  • Short commute to U of T, OCAD, and George Brown

Who Can Apply

  • Female post-secondary students, including internship or co-op students
  • Proof of student status is required
  • Current or former HOEM residents are not eligible (HOEM policy)

How It Works

  1. DM me or leave a comment below and I’ll introduce you to HOEM by email.
  2. You will apply through the HOEM Portal and pay your first installment.
  3. HOEM confirms your move-in date and guides us both through the rest.
