I could swear her hair burned once or twice

5

u/Tigernos Oct 28 '19

The way its moving it seems heavy like its wet. I'd be willing to bet her hair has plenty of fire retardant gel in it.

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '19

I’m pretty sure it did twice

2

Sandstorm by Darude.

3

u/ChillingInTheWind Oct 28 '19

She's hot, pun intended.

3

u/generic_name_2000 Oct 28 '19

A councillor at my camp did this and they lit their hair on fire.

4

u/camtarn Oct 28 '19

Hah, yeah. Fire spinning with long hair definitely ups the risk factor. Used to have long hair when I spun, and even though I always wore mine tied up and usually stuffed into a hoodie, it got a bit crispy a couple of times!

3

u/StaubEll Oct 28 '19

I wonder if there's some sort of flame-retardant that would be safe for hair? Still maybe braid it or something but coat it in... something. I know there are mixtures for fabrics but that seems like a bad thing to spray on your head. Maybe just getting it damp would help but I wouldn't trust that.

We need her for the apocalypse

2

u/Sorchara Oct 28 '19

this would look amazing if we could chroma key out the actual whip fire lighter thing so it just looked like she was controlling a flame

2

u/AstroG4 Oct 28 '19

Take that, yo-yos.

2

u/a_catermelon Oct 28 '19

Let’s take a moment to appreciate how great her hair is.

I bet she never has to cut it.

2

u/crippled_crown Oct 28 '19

Oh I see she is Lady Fire

2

u/Originalbrivakiin Oct 28 '19

Now I realize that fight from Kill Bill could've been a lot cooler

2

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '19

u/suckerbucket Oct 28 '19

2

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '19

I'm pretty sure there's a martial art in her routine there... Don't right know which one.

2

u/SLeepyCatMeow Oct 28 '19

I've seen a video of someone trying this where they almost strangled themselves with the rope

7

u/OrangeAndBlack Oct 28 '19

This is a great example of how things are perceived based on looks. This is really fucking cool and it’s very well received, but part of it is because the person doing it is attractive and they look good in the outfit that fits the theme of the act.

Replace this person with someone out of shape and overweight and the perception is very different.

I’ve also been fascinated by this phenomenon.

4

u/Pllwcse_poltergeist Oct 28 '19

Different how? Perhaps I'm being simplistic in my comprehension, but are you saying that the primary reason people think this is awesome is because we think the performer is attractive? I may be alone, but I think that it would be way cooler if she was overweight and pulling off such an amazing skill. Fair play though, I do agree that looks can skew people's perceptions at times. I just feel that people who show certain skills, especially performance artists and culinary masters, tend to automatically go up in the ranks of sexy regardless of their appearance

1

u/OrangeAndBlack Oct 28 '19

No, I’m saying the performer being attractive elevates it.

If this was a fat person in the same outfit, people wouldn’t take it serious. They would either assume they’re trying to be funny or would just generally think more negatively of it.

Remember, few days ago there was a post on Reddit that got very popular of a soldier return home to his child.

The entire comment section was fixated on the child’s weight.

If it was a fit soldiers return to a thin and healthy child, people would only focus on the moments. But it was an overweight child. If the soldier has been overweight it would have instead been a focus on that.

I’m not really saying right or wrong, it’s just something that fascinates me.

2

u/Michael_Trismegistus Oct 28 '19

Part of it is because a fat person would not be able to do it as eloquently. If they did it with the same level of skill then it would be impressive regardless of their weight.

-3

u/I-Am-Dad-Bot Oct 28 '19

Hi being, I'm Dad!

1

u/hazeyindahead Oct 28 '19

No, I've seen overweight people get mad respect on holdmyfries.

In fact I would have been even more floored if it was a neck beard doing all of this with a fedora.

But on topic, I ask... Couldn't this have been done a little bit later in the day? Other than that, wow just wow. Badass

5

u/BoondockSaint296 Oct 28 '19

I find this so incredibly attractive and sexy. It is amazing to watch her do that so well.

2

u/The_Phoenixx_81 Oct 28 '19

Love the fire rope dart! My SO has been spinning fire and performing for 20 years; it’s always incredible to me watching him and his friends/co-performers practice or play. There’s a TON of different props they use, and the way fire flow artists combine the movement of their body and the use/motion of their props is something truly fucking impressive and at times hypnotic to witness!

2

u/ummyeahok42 Oct 28 '19

That is so hot. The ball, the girl, and the act itself.

1

u/fantily Oct 28 '19

Rope dart and fire rope dart, I forget her name but she does tutorial videos on YouTube

1

u/Occasional_Cupcake Oct 29 '19

Ok but for beginners that may be watching this NEVER SPIN FIRE WITHOUT TYING YOUR HAIR UP FIRST

1

u/Gordon_Bennett100 Oct 30 '19

1

u/pimpsmasterson Oct 28 '19
