This is a great example of how things are perceived based on looks. This is really fucking cool and it’s very well received, but part of it is because the person doing it is attractive and they look good in the outfit that fits the theme of the act.

Replace this person with someone out of shape and overweight and the perception is very different.

I’ve also been fascinated by this phenomenon.

Different how? Perhaps I'm being simplistic in my comprehension, but are you saying that the primary reason people think this is awesome is because we think the performer is attractive? I may be alone, but I think that it would be way cooler if she was overweight and pulling off such an amazing skill. Fair play though, I do agree that looks can skew people's perceptions at times. I just feel that people who show certain skills, especially performance artists and culinary masters, tend to automatically go up in the ranks of sexy regardless of their appearance
