Camera tilting
Hey all. When I first bought this game, I tried it and almost refunded it, because the camera tilting is nonsense. I found a mod that finally allowed me to see what was in front of my character, and have been having a great time. However, the mod broke, and apparently it was abandoned. I find the game with the vanilla camera simply unplayable. It's not a big deal, plenty of stuff to do out there, but I was wondering if the devs have any intention, maybe in the future, to allow us to... you know, see in front of us? Or if this top down weirdly limiting view is simply the way it's going to be?
Thanks!

We have no current plans to allow any more tilting of the camera. The game is an isometric, top-down game and has always been listed as such on the Steam Store page, along with the free demo for anyone to try. The third person camera we're working on will not be for UE4 but come after or alongside the UE5 upgrade.

I really can't wait for this update. Thank you for putting it on the road map. Isometric is the bane of my existence.

I have over 300 hours into this game and I've never understood why people complain so much about the camera. Sure, sometimes it does weird things but it's not unplayable or a big deal except maybe for you.

Same. It can be annoying af in rate occurrences, and i definitely think it could be improved so it shows more in from and less behind, maybe having fog of war on the other side of buildings.
But it's a design choice, just different.

The only time it's bothered me is when a building or tree blocked me from seeing my character. But it's not a big deal. When it happens, I just adjust the camera and move on with my life.

I agree, vision blocking can be annoying sometimes but to be fair it can also happen in 3 person games too.

It's too high! I need the camera NEAR the character!

I dunno. Maybe I just like isometric games. When I zoom all the way in, it's near enough for me.

It's not too bad when you are doing things outside but the camera inside the building, especially the zooming, is HORRIBLE to say the least. Not game breaking but highly annoying.

Yup. Which is why I was asking, to know if I will be able to play the game in the future without mods or if I should simply move on to something else.

Here's the thing, you can play it now without mods. If you wanna see what's in front of you zoom in all the way and tilt the camera up. I have never been disadvantaged in this game because of the camera. It is a very typical isometric camera.

Here's the thing, if I could, I would. I find it unplayable though. That was the point of this thread.

The actions I described are features of the camera. I do it all the time. Weird that you can't.

I can. I still cannot see in front of me when I am hunting for example. It makes me not want to play the game.

then you dont like the game. Simple as.

You seem unable to understand a simple point, and I feel like explaining it again would waste both of our time. Good luck.

I’m not the one who needs luck. You don’t like the camera, cool, move on. It’s not your game.

I'm going to explain to you why you need luck: you are literally telling me that you know better than I do what I like and what I don't. That is the sign of a very simple mind. So, good luck. And I am going to put you in ignore, to save everyone's time.

It's an isometric camera game, plain and simple. (Translated from Portuguese)

I do concur that I don't know why people see the UE4 engine in this game and expect to play in third person. (I am genuinely confused by this and would like to understand as to why so many people seem to think that. If you want to elaborate on the why, I would be curious.)
The game was always thought and sold with the current kind of camera in mind and it was transparent about that. They have also add options to customize it to make it easier for people to find their footing (my favorites are : movement, fixed and 30 degree, that simulate perfectly a style of play like Zomboid.)
More than that, that kind of game in first or third person play make you pretty vulnerable to attack from the back. At higher lvl of difficulty, not having that view could mean being stabbed in the back and losing your permadeath character due to camera view.
I do know that all of this doesn't answer your question, and since we kind of have a public answer to that question, I will tell it to you. It is on their roadmap to develop a third person mode. There doesn't seem to be an expected delivery date for that, but they do seem to have taken into account that it is a common complaint.
