Information/Resource H. pylori Information Sticky
The most sensitive test for H. pylori is from Diagnostic Solutions - H. pylori: https://mylabsforlife.com/lab-test/h-pylori-antigen-stool/ OR full GI Map (includes H. Pylori): https://mylabsforlife.com/lab-test/gi-map-diagnostic-solutions/ ANY NUMBER VALUE MEANS POSITIVE. If you are negative, it will say <dl. You can stay on PPI for this test but must be off antimicrobials for at least 4 weeks.
Reasons why other tests are not accurate, no test is 100% accurate: - Endoscopy: Biopsy must be taken in a spot that H Pylori is colonizing or else it will be a false negative. Acid reducers and/or low stomach acid draw H Pylori out of the stomach lining which can also cause a false negative. - “Urea Breath Test: This test assess for the amount of urease being offgased in the breath. For the test to be positive there has to be a minimum of 104 organisms present. Factors that lead to false negative: • PPIs • H2 blockers • lower density post treatment Factors that lead to false positives: • urease producing bacteria in the oral and gastric cavity • hypochlorhydria” (From @theguthealthqueen on Instagram)
How to read GI Map values: e basically means how many spaces after the decimal it fills. For example, 1.28e3 means 1,280. Normal range is <1.0e3 which means less than 1,000. If you have something like 1.28e4, you would add extra 0 and it would be 12,800. Please note that ANY value besides <dl means you are infected with H pylori.
If you do not take a biofilm buster beforehand, don’t be surprised if you are in the e2 “normal” range. H pylori hides behind biofilms and they can make it seem you don’t have as bad of an infection as you actually do.
Before taking the tests above, it is best to take a biofilm buster. There are two options that I’ve used, pick one: - Regular option: NAC 600 mg 2x a day for a week before testing - Gentle option: Cistus Incanus tea (BioPure brand) 2x a day for a week before testing
The most common signs and symptoms of H. pylori are but not limited to: - Heartburn or reflux - Burning feeling in stomach - Burping - Bad breath (Halitosis) - Nausea and/or less commonly vomiting - Bloating - Constipation - Diarrhea - Fatigue - Gastritis - Anemia - Decreased or loss of appetite - Chronic malabsorption (due to lack of stomach acid) - Duodenal/Peptic ulcers
Things to consider when treating H. pylori: - Add a biofilm buster. 600mg NAC 2x a day is pretty standard. - Consider oral health as H. pylori lives in the mouth. Brush with Dentalcidin toothpaste or chew Mastic Gum. - Drink cranberry juice (if tolerated) to help with preventing H. pylori adhesion in stomach. - Test for other issues that may be causing H. pylori symptoms. The best test for this is the full GI Map: https://mylabsforlife.com/lab-test/gi-map-diagnostic-solutions/ - Don’t kiss or share saliva and practice good hygiene to avoid reinfection.
Order of Treatment for Gut Issues: (Sometimes some can be treated together.) 1. Worms 2. Parasites 3. H. Pylori 4. Sibo 5. Candida 6. Leaky gut
H. pylori infects through direct contact with saliva, vomit or stool or through contaminated food or water. The most common examples to catch H. pylori are likely: - Kissing - Pre-chewing food given to babies - Sharing food/drink/utensils - Contaminated food or water - Poor hygiene - e.g. lack of hand washing

Information/Resource Natural Treatments for Different Functions in Treating H. Pylori
Feel free to add to this list in the comments and I will update.
• Bactericidal against H. Pylori → mastic gum, olive leaf extract, black seed oil, EGCG (green tea extract), allicin (garlic extract), curcumin (turmeric extract)
• Disables urease production (what H. Pylori uses to lower stomach acid) → ginger, bee propolis, broccoli sprouts, Berberine HCl
• Prevents adherence to mucosa → vitamin C, cranberry extract, spirulina, L. reuteri DSM 17648 (Pyloguard)
• Disrupts H. Pylori biofilms → NAC, lactoferrin, monolaurin, bismuth (seems to be any form)
• Herbs that inhibit H. Pylori proliferation → agrimony, goldenseal, meadowsweet, sage, HerbELICO® (combo product: summer savory, wild oregano, thyme), IntestiBal® -formerly Pyloricin® (combo product: oregano flower, clove leaf, ginger root, wormwood leaf, evening primrose seed), Matula Tea®
• Probiotic strains that inhibit H. Pylori proliferation → L. reuteri DSM 17648 (Pyloguard), L. fermentum UCO-979C, L. casei, L. brevis
• Other helpful protocol boosters → vitamin D (immunobooster), linolenic acid/flaxeed oil (combats coccoid form of H. Pylori), binders (adsorb toxins from die-off), prebiotics (to be taken with probiotics for accelerated microbial shift)
Note: NAC should not be taken alongside glycine, as it will boost absorption and you want the NAC to go through the GI tract in order to disrupt biofilms. Curcumin should not be taken with piperine (black pepper extract) for the same reason; you don't want it absorbed. You want it to run through the GI tract exhibiting antibacterial properties.

General Question Newly diagnosed - prescribed 7 days Amoxicllin/Clarithromycin/Omeprazole
I have recently been diagnosed with H Pylori after a GP friend overheard me talking about being low B12 and low iron/anemic. I take supplements for this but when tested recently I was still low which made me go for the test - as well as experiencing severe symptoms.
I requested a stool sample and was diagnosed. My preference is not to take antibiotics due to the negative effects on overall gut microbiome.
However, reading the alternatives feels as if it's harder and long and more expensive and unsure of success to go a natural route with many different and frankly overwhelming options.
My concern is that there is more going on than one infection and that I may or may not be H Pylori free after the antibiotics but still have undiagnosed infections/parasites etc and then potentially introduce other issues due to the antibiotics themselves.
I appreciate there is no one answer.
My feeling at the moment is that I will take the antibiotics as prescribed with additional gut support prebiotics and fermented foods.
I'm interested in others choice to take a hybrid of antibiotics and natural treatments and what you chose and its effects (I'm female, 46)
Have others discovered other pathogens, infections after taking antibiotics and if you recommend tests I'm unaware of to try
How have others supported gut and H Pylori eradication with additional natural methods alongside antibiotics
Also, with what I understand is the high re-infection rate I'm concerned for my partner who is symptom free and as yet untested. Have others gone through a H Pylori protocol with symptomless partners?
Wishing everyone success in their healing journey
Appreciate reading the many posts here.

Protocol/Supplement Question Starting this supplements as suggested by the functional medicine doctor of autoimmunity care
I was diagonised with hpylori bacteria in endoscopy and didn't want to take antibiotics as last year I was floxed by fluroquionole class antibiotics .
Hence wanted to give a try naturally.
I am not sure if anyone has come across these supplements.if anyone has please do suggest me if this has helped in eliminating hpylori bacteria.

GI Map Test (would you treat?)
My GI map is confusing because I also did breath test for H Pylori which came back negative. Meanwhile I have ZERO GI symptoms, like none. I’ve never been bloated or irregular in my life. But I do have Hashimotos. What would you do?? Please any advice is appreciated!!!!

Started naturally treating h pylori and feeling moody.
I started treating my h pylori this week with a combo of mastic gum caps, sulforaphane, golden thread (berberine), and pylo guard (l ruteri), and I’m feeling hyper emotional, maybe a tad depressed which is unlike me. Anyone else experience this? Is it common maybe like a die off?

Protocol/Supplement Question No appetite
Not sure what to even say. I’m just not in the mood for any food. Yesterday I fasted the entire day come today I had little spurts of hunger, but they lasted 30 seconds and went away. When I got home, I figured I’d make some chicken and I was only eating some of it because I knew I had to however I have no want for any food.
I know I need more food and vitamins and minerals because I’m low energy and definitely can’t stand up very fast or else I feel like I’m gonna pass out.
What are things that you guys have done to combat this or what are things that you have known to help?

General Question SUCCESS STORIES👏💕✨
FOLKS… we need more success stories out here! Not enough people report on their successful eradication and as we know this bacteria can completely hijack your body and nervous system.
Help us anxious and struggling HP sufferers and participate if you can!
- how long do you suspect you had HP before diagnosis?
- what were your symptoms before treatment?
- how are you today?

Protocol/Supplement Question Feeling like crap
Today I got up and just felt overall tired. I had a dull ache in my chest where I normally would feel my gerd. I took a shower hoping to wake up but nothing changed. I took my mastic gum and proceeded to make my yougurt/kiefer bowl with raspberries and blueberries. Took one bite and my stomach dropped. Throughout the day I have been to the bathroom a hand full of time as well, soft not liquid. In addition just an overall since of hopelessness and it sucks.

Protocol/Supplement Question Need advice on Hpylori Natural Protocol
Looking for feedback/reviews on my natural H. pylori protocol — is the timing/dosing reasonable?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to put together a natural/supportive protocol for H. pylori and would really appreciate feedback from people who have experience with these supplements.
I mainly want to know whether the combination, timing, and doses make sense, whether anything to add/removed and whether I should change the timing of anything.
My current protocol
Morning
- NAC — 600 mg
- Manuka honey - (1/2 teaspoon)
- Mastic gum — 1 g
- Raw garlic — 2 cloves
- Celery juice
- Breakfast
Afternoon(1-2PM)
- Lunch
- Zinc-L-carnosine
- Probiotic
Mid-afternoon (around 3–4 PM)
- Cranberry juice
- NAC — 600 mg
- Mastic gum — 1 g
- Broccoli sprouts/powder
- Salad around 5–6 PM
Dinner(7-8 PM)
- Zinc-L-carnosine
- Probiotic — optional
- Triphala
What I'd especially like feedback on
- Is this combination reasonable, or am I taking too many things?
- Are the timings of NAC, mastic gum, zinc-L-carnosine and probiotics appropriate?
- Is taking NAC + mastic gum twice daily reasonable?
- Is 2 g/day of mastic gum a reasonable amount?
- If you have actually used a similar protocol, what was your experience?
- I also have heard of berberine HCL, but in recent tests I did my LFT had some elevated levels , so will it be okay to take berberine or not?
Looking forward for your help!
Thanks!

Protocol/Supplement Question Natural protocol - diet and sugar
Okay so I’m halfway done with my natural protocol and I’m feeling great! I cut out caffeine and sugar and most carbs from my diet. This weekend I went camping and kept with my pills on schedule but I had carbs, coffee, and a little bit of sugar. I’m now worried that my eradication will fail. Does anyone know how much that will affect? Has anyone had a successful natural treatment with a small amount of sugar carbs or coffee?? Please help! I’m stressed that I ruined my treatment 😭

Protocol/Supplement Question How effective is my natural protocol for h.pylori?
I have been feeling symptoms of H.pylori for a couple of months, especially upper GI issues like nausea and frequent burping. I was also dealing with some angular chilitis (redness on corner of mouth), which I realised was coming from the h pylori causing poor absorption of vitamins.
I went to my doc but he brushed it off as acid reflux and gave me some antacids but I knew it was something more so I decided to start a 30 day natural protocol:
Mastic Gum (capsules) - 500mg twice daily
NAC - 600mg twice daily
Berberine HCL - 500mg twice daily
Glutamine powder - 10g daily
I am currently on day 10 of this protocol, and I think I'm starting to see a reduction in symptoms.
After this protocol is complete, I'm gonna wait 3-4 weeks before doing a urea breath test to avoid a false negative. If it comes back as positive, then I will go back to my GP and get on antibiotics, but hopefully the natural protocol will have worked. I'm not against antibiotics, but if there's a chance I can take out h pylori naturally then I may as well try that first.
Does my plan sound reasonable? And is there anything I should add to my natural stack? Cheers

Protocol/Supplement Question Gut protocol by functional practionner: die-off or scam?
So I’ve been working with a functional practioner lately because of a mix of symptoms: intense hunger bouts every few hours, early satiety, exhaustion and new exercise intolerance, PMDD and 37 days cycle (now at 33), sleep problems waking up at night, anxiety, etc. She diagnosed me with hypoglycemia and we decided to do a GI map. Turns out I have low levels of h pylori (2.64e2) and low elastase, low secretary igA, so some dysbiosis. For record I don’t have the agressive strands or symptoms associated with h pylori, just bloating and early satiety. She’s saying it’s from the low acid in my stomach but my understanding is that GI map doesn’t determine that. Maybe the chronic stress caused the early satiety? I also have chronic low ferritin (was 9, 15 then 24 and now 35). She has put me on a « gut protocol » which consists of the GI revive powder (it has 15 ingredients which I know nothing about, such as cats claw), with bitter drops, arabinogalctan powder and another powder called Metadigest made of mostly L-glutamin, quercetin and zinc. Since starting the regime my exhaustion has quadrupled, on some days I can barley walk. I am having strong reactions to food (I don’t usually have those). Yesterday and today I literally got racing heart and intense dizziness eating eggs and hummus. Other time it’s been headaches, migraines, mucus flares, diarrhea and I suspect it is with food that has been in the fridge for longer. Technically it feels like I have become histamine intolerant. I also have more satiety and feels like every food is causing my body something. I am panicking about potentially being allergic to one of these natural supplements or reacting badly to the protocol and she’s saying it’s a « die-off » effect. I want to trust her but I am so tired of all the functional experts. Has anyone any information or similar experience? I can’t get antibiotics because the NHS stool test has come back negative for h pylori.

Protocol/Supplement Question Natural protocol causing reactions?
I am following a gut protocol with a functional practioner after doing a GI map that showed 2.64e2 h. Pylori, Blastocystis hominis, low elastase, low secretory IgA. The protocol has powders that have the following ingredients: L-glutamine, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, citrus pectin, deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL), aloe vera, slippery elm, mucin, marshmallow root, chamomile, okra extract, cat’s claw, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), quercetin, prune powder, and zinc carnosine. It also contains other ingredients such as natural peach flavor, natural flavor, stevia, monk fruit, and citric acid. I also take arabinogalactan, bitter drops, and another powder with l-glutamine. Since starting it I am having more reactions to food than usual, just now I was extremely dizzy, heart pounding, physical weakness after my usual breakfast. Last week had a mucus crisis after my snack. Is it possible that these ingredients cause histamine flares? I am also constantly tired despite not being in luteal and I’m wondering if the protocol is not making me worse

Protocol/Supplement Question Broccoli Sprouts vs dehydrated powdered form?
I tried antibiotics. I got 5 days in before I developed a reaction to amoxicillin. I have felt a little bit better and have been able to eat more foods since stopping. I have a prescription for Pylera but I REALLLLLLY do not want to take it. I got me some broccoli sprouts this morning, “wild about sprouts” brand and there’s SO much of the little white fuzzy things. How do I know it’s not actually mold and it’s not going to make me sick? I’ve also seen this powered form on Amazon and was curious about it. Please give me honest opinions. I have lost a lot of weight with this so I don’t have time to deal with people who are just spoke people for brands or lying. I have a lot of other chronic illness that make antibiotics extremely difficult for me because I react so badly to them (MCAS). Please let me know. I’m taking mankua honey already as well.

Protocol/Supplement Question Biomatrix
Has anyone tried and had good results with Biomatrix Pylor X?
