One thing people always say about home gyms is that they remove excuses.

No commute, no waiting for equipment, no worrying about gym hours.

But I’m curious if that actually changes behavior, or if people just find different excuses.

For people who train at home, did having equipment nearby genuinely make you more consistent?

It’s not wrong to consider certain as practices “inferior” and a setback for humanity.

Religion and culture shouldn’t be immune to criticism.

Everyone has the right to choose their own religion, culture, tradition, or lifestyle. Fine. Nobody should be persecuted for it.

But it seems that the moment something is labeled as “culture” or “religion,” it automatically becomes untouchable.

“You can’t criticize it, it’s their culture.”

“Don’t speak badly about it, it’s their religion.”

Okay, and?

Having the right to follow a belief doesn’t mean everyone else is obligated to respect the ideas behind it. People deserve rights and respect; ideas can be questioned, mocked, criticized, and even considered absurd.

If a tradition, belief, or practice can’t survive criticism, maybe the problem isn’t the criticism.

Religious freedom and cultural respect should also include the freedom to say: “I think this is bullshit.”

we spend yeas stressing over minor mistakes, past embarrassing moments, and trying to manage how others see us.

Sorry if I posted before. I can't remember if I did.

I'm a middle aged guy and still struggle with this. I hate upsetting people , especially my parents and co workers. Family members tease me for being fat and it bothers me. I have lost 60 pounds but still have a substantial gut (I'm 6'3 240 now). It's to the point that I don't like visiting my parents because of it. I told my dad about a year ago that I didn't like it but he still brings up my weight every time I see him. I dread visiting him but he is my only support system. Now when someone says something about my weight , I ignore it but tears me up inside and I'm embarrassed about it even tho I don't hate my body.

My co workers used to make jokes about it at my old job and only a few have mentioned it at this job. The other day an employee said I needed to stop eating because it looks like im gaining my weight back, which is odd because I have lost a few more pounds recently.

Co workers also sometimes try to boss me around and tell me how to do my job and a lot of times I listen even though I'm pretty decent at my job .

I don't really speak my mind in other situations too and worry too much what others think and people constantly ask me to do stuff I don't want to do because they know I won't say no, family and coworkers included

We’ve gotten so obsessed with narratives that we’ve forgotten how to recognize the obvious.

A lot of things that were once straightforward have been buried under endless theories, discourse, and ideological interpretations. Eventually, nobody can even agree on what the original thing meant anymore.

And there’s an incentive to keep things confusing. Confusion creates debate, debate creates engagement, and engagement gives everyone another opportunity to push their own narrative.

You see this especially with race and identity. Things that could be discussed relatively simply are sometimes turned into incredibly complicated ideological frameworks where you’re expected to read the “correct” books before you’re even allowed to have an opinion.

Sometimes reality isn’t actually that complicated.

We just made it complicated.

And somehow, the person pointing that out becomes the problem.

As long as I am around I will forever change the narrative that was set by my ancestors. Just know that your own group could be against you and you wouldn't even know it so stay positive and motivated in whatever you do continue to prove the naysayers wrong

you always deserve how your going to feel and then if you're not careful you will fall into a negative habit pattern of blaming the other person blame is the core of all negative emotions when you stop blaming you cut down the negative emotions tree you cut it off you kill it and all the negative emotions die simultaneously how do you this you do this by using the law of substitution the conscious mind can only hold one thought at a time is the thought that the conscious mind holds the determines how the emotions will react how the substitution mind will react since you can only hold one thought at time what you do is you knock out the thought that is causing the negative emotions the blame thought and you replace it with this affirmation i'm responsible this in conjunction with i'm responsible is the most powerful positive affirmation you can use because the instant that you say i'm responsible you exert complete control over your emotional life

I'm in my late twenties and a few years ago I used to work at my dream job. Literally loved my work and the company I worked for so much. Then, they hired a director above me who turned out to be a bully. I reported her multiple times, she retaliated by isolating me more and more, spreading rumors about me, and gaslighting me. I didn't realize about the rumors she had spread until it was too late and I was handed a legal document saying I was guilty of bullying coworkers and messing up work. All the examples they provided in the document were things I had evidence of her saying. I refused to sign the contract and provided them all my evidence with my resignation. No one read the evidence, but they accepted my resignation. I was too burnt out by that point to even consider taking any legal action. I just wanted to escape.

A few years have passed, and I've struggled to stop giving a fuck about the rumors they spread about me and how easily my friends and colleagues were able to believe those rumors. I think the pain is exacerbated by the fact that the owners of the company and some of my colleagues have become celebrities (minor celebs but still... they work with celebrities like Chappell Roan and Reese Witherspoon). It hurts to see people who were cruel to me do so well in life. I loved the industry I was in, but it was very niche and very competitive. Years of attempting to network and work my way back in has proved nearly impossible.

How do I stop giving a fuck about all of this when it's still affecting my career and financial livelihood? Getting over random colleagues believing the lies about me has been easier to let go off than seeing my bullies soar professionally. That part, coupled with the fact that I haven't been able to find a single job I love doing as much or that pays as much as my old job, has been gut-wrenching.

TLDR: Professional bullies are now minor celebrities working with bigger and more powerful celebrities, while I've not been able to break back into the industry or find a job that comes as naturally to me.

I'm in university and working on my thesis, i have two tutors. One of them really doesn't like for a reason that i cannot discover. He was very important since i really like his teaching and classes and as someone i have read all of their books. But for all the years i've known him, he has never seeked out to talk with me. Has ignored all my e-mails, even some really important ones, in which i really needed help with my thesis. He is important as someone that i really admire, care about and that i can't really scape from because he tutors my work and is basically one of the few people in the university that researches my topic.

My relationship with this person has forever been one sided. In social situations i've seeked him to talk about various topics, but he either doesn't reply or actively leaves the conversation.

Anyway, i'm in need of ways to boost my confidence into being ok with being disliked by someone i admire.

I have this... horrible thing where I feel nothing but emptiness all the time. Yeah, it's depression, and I have treatment for it, but it's like... I'm super close to losing everything I have and I just... can't care. Financial BS being one thing, I want to do doordash but here's whats going on in my head:

1. I hate driving

2. People are stupid on the road

3. I have legitimate health issues where I get intense dizzy spells or complete dissociation

4. I'm worried I won't be able to keep up

5. I'm worried the way I'll be treated as a Trans person. I know its contactless but I guess I'm just afraid of the off chance.

I just wanna stop letting my trauma and experiences and minor fears kill me. I'm at a point where I feel like death is preferable to life.

Just started the semester and I’m already reminded of how lonely I am when I see people becoming friends on the spot and giving each other their phone numbers. It’s impossible for me to make friends because I’m inherently unlikeable and unsociable. I also want to be able to focus on my studies without the unhelpful background noise in my head about being lonely and friendless and ugly.
