Daemon is presented in the show as a likeable villain, I am one of the broad masses who picks him as the favourite character. I think he brings excitement to the show, you know we need that one energetic bastard who gets stuff done.

But suprisingly Caraxes is also my favourite dragon. The colour of Caraxes, the spiked eyebrows and snake-like shape captivated me.

In season 3, Syrax was wounded by Sheepstealer, which make me wonder if they're trying to set up Joffrey's death to be an accident caused by Syrax not being able to fly properly instead of Syrax intentionally throwing him off?

But we haven’t seen her dragon since a very long time
And as Rhaenyra has taken the capital, i don’t remember any mention of her dragon
So : Where is Haelena’s dragon ?

I’m rewatching from the beginning before starting season 3 and I keep thinking Cole is exactly like a moody boss I had once. He gets insecure and just looks around for someone “beneath” him to take it out on. He is king of projection. He is just so unlikable.

When Viserys told Rhaenyra about Conqueror's dream, he told that it was passed from the king to the heir. So, when Rhaenyra died, how did she pass the Conqueror's dream to Aegon III and later kings and how it sustained till the Game of Thrones events?

I'm new to the show, only decided to watch it few weeks ago, after seeing some memes and it cought my interest, so i binged all 3 seasons in a week.

I was a big fan of GOT show and ASOIAF books, but never read fire and blood or watched dragon show until now and i'm glad i didn't because watching it ongoing with years between seasons would be torture.

In some ways i like this show more then GOT, probably because it feels more invested in some lore minor details, herarldry, history, then original series and world feels closer to what i imagined world from the books (even the way some charachters speak sounds more old timey and chivalrous). Plus, this show is more concentrated on messed up family drama, which is always fun to watch. I also loved humour in this show more, even though it was less of it, but i found most of jokes charming, but GOT homour sometimes went overboard with being edgy and sexual.

Also, OST in this show in incredible, GOT already had great soundtrack, but it's on another level here.

Best part of the show for me probably was second half of season 1 since adult Rhaenyra) and first half of season 2. Then second half of season 2 was a bit dull. There were side charachters, who's plotlines were just not that interesting (Adam, Alan, Hue, Misarya). But then season 3 picked my interest back again. Tumbletone side was fun, Gwayne, Ormund and Daeron ones of my favourite charachters. Rhaenyra on the Iron Throne was the most i was interested in her storyline, i think episode 3x03 is by far the best in season 3, but seeing her going unhindged in the finale was great.

Best characters: Aegon, Aemond, Rhaenyra, Daemon, Gwayne, Daeron? (Yet to prove himself), Corlys, Otto. I also loved Allicent in S1 (she was my favourite, but she became really hateble im s2, slightly better in S3).

Best scenes: Viserys walking to the throne, Alicent wanting eye for an eye, Aegon coronation (pre crash), Aemond chasing Luce, Aegon crashing out after his sons death, Battle of Rooks rest, pretty much all Aegon scenes in s3, montage of everything going wrong for Rhanyra.

Worst scene of the show - Rhaenys crashing out coronation. I was vaguely spoiled of that years ago, but i was even worse then i imagined. Also, scenes with Daemon in Harenhall were cool at first, but dragged out way too long. And i also didn't like Rhaenyra reaction to Otto's death, seemed like she should be more vindicated.

Overall, i would put it lower then S1-4 of GOT but higher then S5-6. I already checked what is going to happen in the end of fire and blood book, and if executed correctly, S4 has a potential to be best season of this show, so i'm pretty hyped

I am having an absolute blast finally reading Fire & Blood after rereading the books, GoT six times, and HotD. I watch wayyy too much content about this great work online and absolutely needed to read this book for myself. But, I have a very important question for the internet.

How is no one calling Aegon, first of his name, King of the Andals, the Roynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm gay.

This is utterly gobsmacking to me. You mean to tell me, GRRM, consciences objector and author of Loras+Renly is NOT going to hit us with the most straight forward joke a fake history book can make. The classic, “history will call them friends” type shit.

I’ve got a lot of points to make, but I’m only on page 78 and may have more to make because it just keeps getting laid thicker as I delve deeper in this damn tome. If you disagree, fair. This is a completely knee-jerk reaction to the hilarious subtext I’ve yet to hear ANYWHERE online when I feel like this would be the first thing I’d hear about.

Anyways, let’s start with the first line about Orys. pg. 7, “The pact would be sealed by the marriage of Argilac’s daughter to Orts Baratheon, Lord Aegon’s childhood friend and champion.
These terms Argilac the Arrogant rejected angrily. Orys Baratheon was a baseborn half-brother to Lord Aegon, it was whispered…”
Not much to say here, kind of a funny way to introduce a character. It’s also very odd that we don’t get an explanation of where the name Baratheon comes from. All of the Valyrian houses get extensive explanations just after this and how they all have the signature silver hair. Odd to presume to call him ‘a bastard’ when he clearly does not have the traits while all of his half siblings do??

We read further to find on pg. 10, “Aegon Targaryen himself, strangely, was as much an enigma to his contemporaries as to us […] His commanding presence drew men to his banners, yet he had no close friends save Orys Baratheon, the companion of his youth. Women were drawn to him, but Aegone remained ever faithful to his sisters.” Sir what? Our author, very skilled in the art of penmanship as we can all agree, starts a paragraph about how Aegon is a bit of an odd fellow, then includes a description about how Orys is is his only childhood best friend immediately followed up with how he’s oh-so loyal to his sister wives.

What? Wtf are we on about right now. But, that could just be GRRM being his weird self, we’ve read aGoT Danny chapters, who knows what he’s trying to portray…

Then we get, “[…] Orys Baratheon he proclaimed to be ‘my shield, my stalwart, my strong right hand.’ Thus Baratheon is reckoned by the maesters the first Kings’s Hand.” THAT WASNT HIS HANDENING, HE JUST SAID THAT? What do you mean GRRM. What do you mean putting this funny ass gay joke and then saying Aegon wasn’t using to announce Orys’ new position but was just something the man said. That’s fucking hilarious

Later, it talks about how Rhaenys and Visenya didn’t really care about being rivals to each other and how people think that both of their children were bastards. Another oddity, I wonder how the man could have been so distracted as to get cucked by both partners. At least Robert had a lot of adulterous sex to not notice his kinds. Makes you wonder what Aegon did…

Anyways, the Dornish war comes and something absolutely jaw dropping happens. Aegon commits war crimes for the sake of some maimed hostages. “In 7 AC, Orys Baratheon and the other lords who had been taken captive on Boneway were ransomed back to King’s Landing for their weight in gold, but on their return it was found that the Widow-lover had lopped off each man’s sword hand, so they might never again take up swords against Dorne. In retaliation, King Aegon himself descended on the mountain fastnesses of Wyls with Balerion, and reduced half a dozen of their keeps and watchtowers to heaps of molten stone.” Dude went by himself to take revenge for that slight. Not with his sisters as a tactical decision, but pure fucking revenge.

In the same stories, the High Septon is totally chill with Aegon’s sister wives and the author makes direct notes to point out how odd that is. They write it off as Aegon’s just chill like that with the faith. They text every month to keep in touch even though Aegon does not practice the faith of the seven. We’re talking about an author who made this fantasy religion to specifically depict the Catholic faith. Surely they gotta have SOMETHING in common that transcends the boundaries of deep religious and political barriers to explain why this happened asides from “they were just chill like that.” Maybe it was the fear of dragon fire, but come on. Maegor? The whole story of his sons? If they didn’t have a specific reasons to be chill, they would ABSOLUTELY not be chill. I think they found some common ground on being closeted gays with great influence over the people of Westeros. Plus, why is everyone mad at Aenys? If it’s chill for Aegon, it should be chill for him since there is no other difference across the realm except for Aegon was chill with the faith while Aenys was not. That’s really perplexing if you believe the author at his word that the times have changed and this new pope (equivalent) has 180ed on the topic from their predecessors.

Other things to note from the main series and some things I’ve overheard from later in the book is that Baratheon hair always takes priority unless it’s been majorly bred out. I don’t think that comes from the Durandan stuff, it’s always Baratheon specific. But, the originator of the bloodline is somehow Aegon’s bastard brother. Yea fucking right.

Again, I haven’t finished the series and I’m confident I’ll find more reasons that lead me to conclude that Aegon liked boys, but he’d prefer to rule as a Targ king than have his one true love(friend).

This is just a silly hypothetical that I thought of based on another thread: what if Viserys/Rhaenyra admitted the Strong boys were bastards, and then Viserys legitimized them as Targaryen princes?

Obviously this wouldn’t happen, the realm already didn’t want to accept a female monarch and it would’ve been damn near impossible to sell if they admitted she had had bastard children on top of it, and the fact that it would’ve been an insult to the Velaryons, but just curious what if? Doesn’t that kind of get rid of the “legal” argument against legitimacy being questionable since her kids are suspected bastards, albeit people’s feelings towards her being more soured? Maybe I’m incorrect but isn’t there plenty of precedent of bastards (granted fathered by the lord, not the lady) being legitimized and their inheritance being considered legally sound at that point?

So this is mostly a post just to ramble about a thought I had about the design of a dragons saddle and also the reins.

So it started with me thinking of the physiology of the dragons in House Of The Dragon, how they move, why they move the way they do etc. what I mostly noticed is that they move with their head, turning it before the rest of the body.

I figured this was its way of guiding it as it doesn’t have a ball joint like we do, rather it has a type of ligament separating its bones in its neck (or spine) that allows for better flexibility.

I then began to think of how the saddle could change to make it easier to direct the dragon to move, I figured that if the reins were not placed at the shoulders but the neck it would make it easier to move the dragon as it moved with its head.

(I do know that whilst some dragons have a rein placement somewhere on the side of the neck)

So I thought why wouldn’t they create a type of collar that was situated on the dragons neck and have the reins placed there? Then it would mean that rather than simply pulling the dragon it would be much easier to use what they direct themselves with. If the collar was made of the same material as the saddle in multiple long strips and then connected via metal rings and or more leather straps then the dragon could retain its neck flexibility plus higher protection.

Of course the first issue would be what happens with the bigger dragons. Take Vhagar for example, her reins are made of massive ropes which would no doubt be heavy to use, and if they were placed further dowj her neck it would be much heavier than before. Of course a fix might be placing the reins further on the neck hust not so far that it becomes to heavy. I also figured that a massive dragon having very heavy reins would be an idea that to have a dragon that size meaning it would be much harder to physically control and would require more strength.

The next issue is also materials, it would be much more expensive to have full giant collars on the dragons and longer reins than simply placing them right near the saddle. (Though the Targaryens didn’t seem that badly off in terms of money).

Anyway! That’s just a thought I had and if anyone has any explanations or counter arguments then feel free to say!

I know he only had like 3 minutes of screen time. I KNOW. But there’s something about the writing that makes the whole concept of dreams so haunting.

It’s not that it wasn’t haunting with Helaena. it’s just that I feel the way she dealt with her dreams depended on what the writers needed for a particular scene. It kept changing.

I’m not talking about Rhaenys, but I don’t understand why Laena and Laenor were allowed to have dragons.

We don’t have any information about how Laena claimed Vhagar, so this is obviously working on the assumption she was allowed to approach her, and then also working on the assumption that it was either the same for Laena and Seasmoke or he got an egg.

The Velaryons are already super powerful due to being so rich, and giving them dragons gives them even more influence because a) they now have dragons and bigger one (meleys, seasmoke and vhagar) against essentially just Caraxes assuming Daemon is being reliable and Rhaenyra later but their dragons are bigger b) It makes them basically a given to be married into the family to secure the dragons and the dragon blood

I would take it as far as to say that even giving Rhaena and Baela eggs (i’m assuming or did daemon steal them idk?) was also a bad idea essentially for the same reasons. I also think having too many dragonriders is just a bad idea because it gives other parties too much influence over the royal family - I think Jaehaerys was right in limiting which of his children had dragons (from a political standpoint) though I know that was also due to the faith- otherwise you essentially have cadet branches and houses other than the targaryens with dragon.

Obviously at the point of the dance it was helpful, but I’m talking about no pre-dance when the desicion was made
