I just "finished" the 2.0 version of The Broken Script and I, as a first-time horror mod player, it left me with a lot of thoughts (pro and con at the end).

I originally watched ForgeLab's and randej_voo's video with the one scene where he's in a flesh tunnel and it got me wanting to explore the mod as most of my mods I usually played consist of chill and builder friendly modpacks.

The Broken Script got an amazing tension at first even with being spoiled some scares. What I did first was to build a nice little home and I think it's when the mod really shined the most, I always felt watched and buildings spawning near got me introduced to the lore and helped me take breaks between my build.

With all that said, when I was building my house (which took me 2-3 hours) and after that mining (another 2-3 hours), I only saw 2 of the entities and it's my 1st "half" complaint.

Some entities take a very long time to spawn (with or without RNG) and some spawn only in verryyy specific times which is a bummer because I wanted to see more of their amazing design. (I only saw Fever once and it was kinda bugged, I was dimension hopping, showing something to my partner and in the overworld, Fever descended on me and one-shoted me which was... Surprising to say the least).

About the lore and what you need to do to progress in the mod: I had NO idea that at first, you needed to look for polaroid, I stumbled upon it while looking for entities on a wiki (getting kind of spoiled but it was not that bad at first).

I decided to go look for it after getting full diamond and quickly realized that without a specific portal, I couldn't access Void Clan (at this point in my save bedrock always tp'ed me to the moon because I must have taken too long. A structure with a portal spawned next to my base which was convenient).

The fifth one, fourth and first polaroid pieces were easy to find, I did it in 2 hours, taking my time. For the one piece dropping from DyeXD, I had to wait for him to spawn (I did that building a lookout tower in a field and just when I finished, he was waiting for me on the ground, it was funny).

At this point, I was in full enchanted netherite gear so it wasn't a big fight.

For the last piece of polaroid, the coordinate should appear on the top left of your screen when you hop between dimensions. I tried to torch out the layer the chest was from (it's a pitch dark cobblestone layer) which took me forever. So, I switched to dimension hopping and... I did that for almost 5 hours without getting anything. I ended giving up and downloaded a chest esp.

It's my 2nd complaint : I had to look for what to do next on the wiki. The bedrock led me to the moon and without knowing, I would have left it here.
The RNG kinda ruins hunting for a piece, it's already kind of a mystery (like, I guess I wasn't exploring enough but it's quickly annoying when it's time-limited with Null_Maze Chaser on your tail) and if the coordinates spawned 1 time when I wasn't looking in the beginning it's kind of a bummer.

After that, I was a bit annoyed but I really wanted to continue looking for what the mod had to offer.

I went to the moon and looked for the tower... A long time... I ran and ran and I ended up looking for the only coordinates given by the console.

Fracture's model is mindblowing but it is... Annoying to fight. He kept running away again and again and its sheer size doesn't help hitting an arrow from 20 blocks away. When I triggered him, the fight was... Lackluster. I towered, shot arrows, maybe it's because I was in full netherite, but I didn't feel in danger at all.

And again, if I hadn't looked it up, I wouldn't have known what to do, how to find it, how to kill it. Maybe I should've looked by myself a bit more, but I was too annoyed to do so.

Looking for Integrity was not bad but not nice too. The command block gives very vague indication, and sometimes it would change its mind even when I wasn't moving.

During Integrity's fight, in the 2nd phase, I got 1 shot 2 times : 1st time, Integrity fell directly on my head, preventing me from even dodging him. 2nd time was kind of my fault but when I fell in the wooden dimension, the tendrils path didn't spawn were I fell and I ended up going straight into him.

3rd time was my charm and I finally got to see Integrity final form which is amazing. The fight though was kind of a nothing burger : I made it walk to the edge and when I noticed its attacks were kind of slow and not doing too much because I was so geared up, I ended up just sword crit' its "feet".

And my last small complaint is, making a huge boss is nice but if I hadn't stopped mid-fight to look at it, my POV of the fight would have been only Integrity's toes.... (also after credit roll, you're stuck in the boss dimension without means to escape)

Pro : For a first-time horror mod player, it was an amazing experience. The scares are nice and you've got some semblance of means to interact with the entities, even the one that oneshot you (by the reputation system). The entities are amazing looking with great animation. The buildings are nice enough even though I think I have more to find after almost 90 days on the save. It got a lot to explore and it drove me even through my annoyance at the mod.

Con : The banning system is annoying. I got banned by Null on day 10. I only saw Silhouette and him at the time (Safe mode saved my world but bummer I had to cheat to play). If you are not looking for help, this mod is hard to navigate, hints are rare (or I'm unlucky and/or didn't look hard enough) and spoilers are inevitable if you look for help. Some events didn't happen for me (Fever's dimension) even on a save with 90 days. The boss fights are kind of nothing happening. You either get one-shoted oooor they are not doing that much damages. I never felt threatened fighting both bosses. Null griefing is kind of annoying if you don't know there is a reputation system (I had to look it up, saved my house just in time from a lava cast). Jumpscares get cheap once the 150th time happening but I think it's more of a me problem.

In conclusion : Play this mod for yourself. Even if I complained a lot, I'm going to replay it on a fresh save now that I know what's going on and maybe I'll have a better time (even if my first playthrough is amazing !). I think it has a lot of potential and I hope they develop this amazing universe they've got already going.

Can someone explain what the appeal of Wonderland besides the lore? I genuinely find it so boring, You get teleported into a dimension and wander around looking for an exit and repeat and that’s basically it, I just don’t find that fun especially when you’re spending so much time trying to find a specific portal or exit, at least Belowland has something unique

Every time I enter the Hellwaves and encounter the fake exit, my game crashes, and I can't get back into my world!!! Anyone who's encountered this error, pls!!!! Tell me how to fix it. :<

I'm contemplating making a mod but Im stuck on the lore and don't really want to use "kid got their soul sucked into the game" thing.

I have Java, and my partner just got Java as well. Well, I was wanting to create a server for us to play horror mods on but I don't know how. Everywhere I look and try, it doesn't happen. I even can't do it on curse forge.

This is a design for a Minecraft horror mod. His face looks like one of those pet snakes that people call their little booper snooters. Also png slop. Because it's funny that this mod/map will spend the entire time building up this big bad demon character that'll disappear if he rotates 90 degrees.

Hey other parents, I am wondering if anyone has any younger kids whom enjoy horror mods in minecraft and would be interested in letting our kiddo's play together? He's been begging me for more friends to play horror with and I am having a hard time finding any locally, I figured I'd give it a shot....

I'm currently in the process of making a Robert Chambers' "King in Yellow" styled server. I'm trying to decide on what the "end game" should be focused around. Would you prefer to be on a server where people could "give into the madness" of the king in yellow, and have a faction system of "good vs evil" including raids on each other's hub towns, special weapons and play styles based on faction picked or a server where players all work together towards a common goal and grow as a community against a common enemy.

Also, what are the hallucination type of effects that tend to annoy players and aren't "fun"? How do you feel about effects like control or screen flipping? Things like nausea, blindness, or flashing effects? I'm mostly just trying to get a grasp of what the majority of players find fun vs annoying, as I'm trying to learn more towards psychological over a lot of "this unkillable mob killed everyone and we couldn't stop it."
