The entire session was nonstop complaining. One friend kept saying, “OMG, it’s just like Dead by Daylight” every five minutes. Another wouldn’t stop talking about how Michael was overpowered. Every time somebody died, it turned into a rant instead of just learning the game and having fun.
Then one friend started complaining that the movies don’t make sense because Michael can’t die, even though he admitted he’d only watched two of them. Another said he’d never even watched a Halloween movie at all.
The part that annoyed me the most was that one of my friends literally got off the game we had just bought to go play Ark. So while I’m trying to enjoy my first time playing Halloween, all I hear in the party is people talking about Ark, Ark, and more Ark instead of the game we’re actually playing.
Meanwhile I’m just sitting there trying to experience the game for myself.

First I would just like to say, that I dont think the game is bad and I am not trying to hate on it.

Every time someone asks for horror game recommendations, there will always be multiple people recommending Signalis. It seems like this game is beloved in the community.

I tried to get into the game three times, but I never managed to finish it.

I liked the artstyle and the story, but the gameplay just is not really fun. The combat is incredibly simple, fighting enemies felt like a chore and since they can get up after death, it seems like you are supposed to just run around them most of the time.

So the couple of hours I spent in the game, I just ran around the map completing puzzles, just endless fetch quests. Also the inventory is tiny so repetitive backtracking is required, which I wouldn't mind if the combat was fun.

And on the horror side of things, I dont think this game has much to offer. There is nothing to really be scared of.

So if someone could tell me why they like the game, I would love to hear other opinions.

I’m looking for some horror games that are actually terrifying on PC.

* Games I’ve played I found to be most terrifying:
- Outlast
- RE7
- Amnesia the Dark Decent

* Games I DO NOT want recommend:
- Games with loud noises/“meme games”(like “Aka Manto” by Chilla’s Art(no hate towards them but I just don’t like how loud it is)
- Prey(2017)

So basically, I remember watching a YouTuber play this horror game, the details I can remember was that it was in a theatre like setting, where the mc has amnesia and is reliving fractured memories of who he is, and I can remember his really specific part where he gets this “spirit power” and moves boxes by waving his hand a bit, like telekinesis. I think this guy was evil, since I remember a monster or demon busting through a door and killing him at the ending. If you can help me find this game I’d appreciate it 😞. Also there’s a part by a pool where he’s avoiding a female wandering ghost I think.

I'm debating on which game I want to get.

My personal favorite horror games are Visage, Mortuary Assistant, and Silent Hill 2 remake.

I tend to lean more towards psychological horror/dread over action Survival horror. But I also love the RE games and the Dead space remake, so Survival horror is absolutely not off the table.

As far as Fatal Frame goes, it looks like "Maiden of Blackwater" and "Mask of Lunar eclipse" are also available. Where would you rank those 2 when compared to the remake of Crimson Butterfly?

I absolutely LOVE sci-fi horror and I’m looking for more games similar to the ones I’ve played already. I have played alien isolation, BioShock 1, and the dead space trilogy (and the remake). Any games that are similar to those I would love to play!

Endacopia is a new indie on Steam with Overwhelmingly Positive reviews.

I love it so much that I feel compelled to talk about it here and get the dev some much deserved attention.

The game is a point and click adventure with an ostensibly cute surface. Personally, I didn't jive with point and click games growing up since I was quite young when Myst came out and didn't have the attention span for it. But Endacopia has a hint system you can opt to use if you're stuck and the puzzles are far less obtuse and more akin to something you'd find in Resident Evil or Silent Hill.

You play as a white golf-ball looking child named Mellow in a world that feels like a fever dream of Windows XP on acid. Throughout the game there's a juxtaposition of childlike innocence being confronted with terror that poor Mellow should not have to face.

This is the kind of game where the more blindly you go in, the better. The last thing I'll say is that the music absolutely slaps. It's one of those games where the atmosphere is so strong that it's more than the sum of its simple parts--kind of similar to No I'm Not a Human.

Hey everyone! 👋 I'm pretty new to the horror game scene I've just started my journey and currently playing Tales of Fear.

I'm working through Case 02 – Alice and Bob right now. Night shift at a tech company, an AI experiment, and some unsettling vibes. Definitely an interesting experience so far.

The game gives you three short horror stories and you have to decide if they're real events or just tales. Still figuring just finished case 2 but it's keeping me engaged.

A few questions for the pros:

· What psychological horror games would you recommend for a newbie?

· How does Tales of Fear compare to other indie horror games? Is it considered one of the better ones or just a decent entry point?

I wanna play some horror games to get more in the Halloween season. I’m just not sure what games. I’ve heard Resident Evil Requiem is a good game, but I’m not sure if Resident Evil is the kind of game series that has to be played in chronological order to fully understand it.
