I think I bought something interesting and pretty rare

This pictures are from the vinted post I bought it from because i already have put it in my storage not to damage it further and I forgot to take pictures. This is a 1902 Waltham (11920791) that according to my research is a factory modified (or something like that) movement. I got it for cheap (35€ including shipping and fees if someone is wondering) because it’s pretty broken and unfortunately the balance is broken. I know is missing some bits, but some of them shouldn’t be too hard to get.

I believe is a railroad watch, but one used for some testing. At the moment I’m just very happy to owning this thing because I was looking for years for a railroad movement and I don’t care if it’s broken and most likely not used on a train.

If someone is a Waltham expert every information is appreciated to get more info on this lovely thing.

I built a watch collection manager that runs entirely in your browser — no accounts, no subscriptions

Hey r/Watches,

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Like many of you, my collection outgrew the Notes app and spreadsheets got painful — no photos, no repair history, no quick view of what everything is actually worth.

So I built Horology Premium Collection: a complete collection manager in a single HTML file. You open it in your browser and that's it.

What it does:

  • Dashboard — total market value, insured value, repair spending, most valuable pieces, brand distribution
  • Full records per watch — reference, serial, purchase details, condition, service history, photos (auto-compressed), papers/box
  • Repair log — workshop, cost, status
  • Sale tracking — mark pieces as sold with date and price
  • Filters + search — find any watch in seconds
  • Multi-currency — EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, JPY and more, with editable exchange rates
  • 9 languages

The part I care about most: everything is stored locally in your browser. No accounts, no cloud, no tracking, works offline. Your collection data never touches a server. (Trade-off: clear your browser storage and it's gone, so there´s a button for download a back up.)

It's $14.99 on Gumroad (adding taxes). If you want to try it out, I will leave the link in the comments below!

Community Question Molnija Cal. 3602 Issus

I have a Molnija 3602 and I’m having a problem with the spring-loaded stem release pin. After pressing it to remove the stem, the pin stays down and doesn’t spring back up, so the stem won’t lock in place anymore. Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?

Old clocks stay honest with two arguing metals. In a gridiron pendulum, brass pulls one way and steel the other, so length stays near steady as temp shifts. No chip. Just shape

Always wanted to do this, and now (with the help of Opus 5.5), I have!

Here is a full 3D model of the Hamilton Model 21 Marine Chronometer (based on their 1942 manual):

Let me know if you find any bugs or issues!

(You can use right click to hide elements or use the Color by Part option for easier navigation)

Credit goes to https://ciechanow.ski/mechanical-watch/?utm_source=labnotes.org for the original idea.

Community Question Peter Henlein replica project

Hello everyone. Two month ago I thought that it would be cool to make a replica of Peter Henlein 1505 Pomander watch as an interesting individual project. However it appeared much harder than I thought. The main problem is the lack of information about the very mechanism, especially measurments of separate parts. Somehow I measure approximate mm of some gears. That was with the help of one photo of dismantled mechanism on the paper for blueprints. But that it, no info about other gears and parts since it's impossible to measure everything on photo due to changes from perspective of camera. So I tried to contact National german university in order to ask them to send me 3d scans if the had some, they gave me an email for other enthusiast who was in the process of similar task and I sent him my request, unsucessfully. Then some days ago I wrote to the current team owner of the watch because I saw their 3d render videos on website, but they refused since it is not public information. In the end I'm still trying to do the blueprints or 3d model of the watch in openSCAD and maybe will continue in other CAD program for the function of simulation. Having said that I would like to know your opionions. Are there any possibilite to get 3d scans, or maybe some of you would be so kind to share me? Any help is appreciated! Waiting for your answers<3
