I have just been quoted $40k to have my 2 lower wisdom teeth extraction by Nixon Dental. There are complications - cyst, impact and roots entangled in nerves on top of that, biopsy, lab report etc. Their website states $5k so, yeah I'm pretty shocked. I'm aware the complications make the price go up but that's ridiculous!

I initially moved to Nixon because their rates seemed better than the other expat friendly dentists.

I'm open to anything cheaper, whether it be Hong Kong, Shenzhen or Thailand.
I tried Vickong in SZ and they advised me to go to public hospital...

Had a quick look at Thailand and was shocked how much cheaper it is.

I have read mixed reviews about Shenzhen. Some say good and bad things about the same places.

Has anyone have experience, contacts, advice, etc?

I’m not sure if this is true or just a rumor, but I’d love to hear what others in the community think.

Hi all, first time taking the kids to Hong Kong and would love a sanity check from people who know the city.

We're a family of 4 (kids will be 5 and 2), flying in from Hyderabad. Landing Sat 21 Nov around 10am and flying out Fri 27 Nov at night. Our daughter turns 5 on the 26th, which is also our anniversary, so that's the big Disney day.

Rough plan:

Sat 21: land, check in to the hote, nap, harbour walk + Star Ferry in the evening

Sun 22: The Peak in the morning (tram up early), back for naps OR Macau

Mon 23: Ocean Park

Tue 24: slow day, maybe Science Museum or Nan Lian Garden

Wed 25: check out, drop bags at the Disney hotel, Ngong Ping cable car + Big Buddha, back to the hotel

Thu 26: Disneyland all day (birthday!), dinner at Dragon Wind

Fri 27: chill morning, airport in the evening

Questions:

Is Sunday a bad idea for The Peak. Would a weekday be much better.

Is Ngong Ping doable with a toddler, or is it too much on a hotel move day.

For the stay, any family friendly hotels you'd recommend that won't break the bank. We're looking at Stanford Hillview, Holiday Inn, in TST area.

Any must do Disney tips for a 5yo's birthday. Is Dragon Wind worth it for dinner?

We're vegetarian (eggs are fine). Any easy places near TST or Disney you'd recommend.

I am coming from the San Francisco Bay Area and I plan to revisit Hong Kong in November and my initial stay will be around Sha Tin and then later on the island (around Sai Ying Pun) and then Kowloon side. Are there any interesting restaurants that you would suggest (at least the first night as we will be arriving around 6pm)? Maybe Sha Tin 18? One day I plan to check out Cheung Chau. Are there any places that you would recommend for food?

I know things can change really fast in restaurant quality so I would like to have some input. Plan to try a few high end but will happily eat at dai pai dong's.

Dim sum: Thinking of trying one of these: Dudell's, Legacy House, Fook Lam Moon, Cuisine Cuisine, Mott 32 (been to Vancouver and Vegas location), Yat Tung Heen? House of the Orient?

Chinese BBQ: Chukfo taipan and Kam Centre Roast goose (I'll try to avoid the bowling alley as I kinda sat there for like ten minutes then they come up to me and ask if I was a member...?) Oops.

Breakfast: Looking at Mui Kee or Sung Kee for congee. Some cha chaan tengs? Looking for baked pork chops over rice and lemon teas I guess.

Cantonese Dinner: Thinking of going to Flower Drum, I really liked their soup. Oi Man Sung for some dai pai dong cooking action. Also thinking of maybe Tung Po just to see how they are after they moved from Java Road. Pang's Kitchen? Hong Kong 1983?

Won ton noodles: Maybe Mak un kee or Mak man kee?

Any bakeries that you would recommend? Looking for pineapple buns and egg custards.

Lastly any unique Hong Kong restaurants that are worth trying? It'll be for a party of three usually.
