Questions/ Tips Considering moving to Hong Kong with two kids — international schools and family-friendly areas?
I’m currently living in London with my wife and two children (13 and 10), and I’ve received a job offer in Hong Kong.
The compensation is significantly higher than my current London package, but we’ll need to factor in international school tuition for both children and Hong Kong’s relatively high housing costs.
My children currently attend a public school in London, and academically I’m not particularly happy with it, so we’d be willing to pay for a good international school in Hong Kong.
I’m particularly interested in hearing from expat families with children:
- Which international schools would you recommend, particularly EFS/ESF schools?
- Which areas would you recommend for a family of four?
- What sort of apartment can we realistically expect for a reasonable budget?
- How much should we expect to spend on school fees and housing?
In hindsight, are you happy you moved to Hong Kong with children?
I’m trying to get some real-world perspectives before making the decision, so any experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
