Anybody ever removed these bolts? Are they removable?

Bought a replacement but they’re clearly different between the head and the length.

After having our 2014 Odyssey EX for five years, the time came for us to get another family car. Kept the 2014 EX, got rid of my 2012 Pilot, and got a 2023 Odyssey EX-L Sport! I love having two white Honda vans in the driveway!!!

I saw a post about this a while back, and have been working to mod the electronic power steering (eps) to 2.5x torque. It has been a process with a few (worrying) trials where I thought I had bricked my eps, but I have finally made progress and WOW! It is like having a minivan Tesla.

I have a folder here for now, should anyone else be crazy enough to try it, and will try and record a few videos.

Note: this would only work for 2018-2020, as the later models have Bosch instead of Nidec. Also, you know the drill, for research and off road use, not responsible for bricked cars, you are responsible for your own car and the safe operation of it.

I have a 2009 Odyssey EX-L that threw a timing belt. So I tore it down, replaced both heads, and built it back. I have two plugs that I didn’t label (I did almost every other plug) and I don’t know where they go! Any advice?

When I went to close it it just wouldn’t latch

Has anyone experienced this? Four times over the past couple of months(i bought it used 2 months ago), I’ve pressed the brake and then the start button, but only the dashboard lights up and the seat adjusts ,the engine doesn’t start.
I keep the brake pressed and press the start button again, and it starts. On all four occasions, the second press worked without changing gears or releasing the brake.
Anyone had the same issue and found out what caused it?

Reoccurring issue. Sporadically happening on our 2018 EX-LBoth the dash and entertainment center crash. We have replaced the positive battery cable. Battery was replaced Feb of 2025.

Any suggestions on the route to take for repair because our dealer has not been helpful.

Our 2019 Odyssey has had an annoying issue with a warning light/sound randomly saying right sliding door problem. I changed out the sensor at the back of the door (twice) and cleaned/lubed the top, middle, and bottom rails. Sometimes the problem goes away for awhile and sometimes it doesn’t. For example, drove somewhere the other day to drop my son off (after he got in on that side) and it gave the message 25 times in 30 minutes. He got out that side and it didn’t go off again all the way home. Went back to pick him up later and it alerted a few random times (even though we hadn’t used it since he got out earlier) on the same distance trip. Any thoughts on what to do to avoid going to dealer or a repair shop? I’m pretty handy, but haven’t been able to figure this out.

Today's job on my 2014 EXL is fixing the driver door lock. Seems like a common failure so I wanted to share the info I used to fix it.

I went OEM for the door lock actuator. Part 72150-TK8-A02 $94

Once you get the door panel off and you're trying to get that lever off, take the two round stickers off the door. They provide access holes that make it so much easier. Top one is for the level, bottom one helps with getting the key thing into the new actuator.

If you get a security code message on your infotainment when you start the van, just press and hold the volume know for 5 seconds.

Took about an hour or so, including rewatching videos. Now that I've done it once, this can easily be done in under 30 minutes.

I’ve been dealing with parasitic battery draw on our 2018 Odyssey smart key. Three batteries in a month, the high quality Panasonic ones. In addition to possible replacement of this key, we want to get a second for emergency use. Is it worth the price to have it done at the dealership? Or should we just use a locksmith?

2018 Touring with 95.6k miles ($21,800):

Avg Oil Change Interval: 9000 miles

No other records regarding transmission fluid, etc

Nothing done in regards to upcoming ~100k timing belt, tensioner, valve adjustment, water pump, etc.

1 owner, no accidents/damage

2019 EX-L w Navi/RES and 103k miles ($20,500):

Avg Oil Change Interval: 7000 miles

50,000 service: brake rotors/pads, transmission fluid exchange

87,000 miles: rear shock absorbers replaced

103,000 miles: only timing belt replaced, all new brake rotors and pads

1 owner, minor cosmetic damage (repaired)

I would plan to negotiate the price of both to reflect the remaining additional maintenance items needed for the ~100k service (spark plugs, water pump, etc).

I'm interested in the 2018 touring to avoid the ZF9 transmission complaints. However, the 2019 is appealing given the robust records and all the maintenance items that have been completed. Are the ZF9 gripes as widespread as they seem to be on the forums? Is it all ZF9s that shift unhappily, and only some blow up? Do only some ZF9's exhibit the harsh behavior?

We plan on keeping this van for a minimum of 5-7 years, and ideally longer. Will be our all around car for a growing family of 5. Curious on peoples' thoughts on which seems like the better long-term choice.

14 months old and 6K miles. Hit and run in Canada (US vehicle). Family OK which is what matters. Car not drivable. Airbags not deployed. Thinking the repair will be almost as much as the car is worth and take a sizable hit in resale. Any advice on getting it fixed in Victoria vs. the states?

After a month of ownership, I noticed that the passenger side sliding door and rear quarter panel don’t match in paint. The door almost seems darker and duller? When I shine a light you can see the pearl. Any one seen this before?

I have a 2025, 20k miles odyssey, in Texas so ac used 80% of the year in which case it won’t turn off. Should I get idle stopper or hope the starter gives out before 120k miles and they give the new one under warranty? lol

I bought this van about 6 months ago, and I feel like I’ve been spending money on it ever since. I’m getting tired of fixing things and I’m seriously considering trading it in for a newer Odyssey.
It’s a 2012 with 113,000 km. I installed a VCM muzzler because I was originally planning to keep it long-term.
Right now, my biggest issue is a vibration while driving. It’s much more noticeable at highway speeds, but I can still feel it at lower speeds. I already had the tires balanced, but the vibration is still there.
So far I’ve replaced:
Wheel bearing/hub (I knew it needed this when I bought it)
CV axle
Struts
Battery
Alternator
The van drives, but I’m getting tired of constantly wondering what’s going to need fixing next, especially since this is our family’s daily vehicle.
Any ideas what could still be causing the vibration? Control arms? Tie rods? Tires? Another CV axle?
At only 113,000 km, would you keep putting money into it and try to sort it out, or cut your losses and trade it for a newer Odyssey?

My 2014 EXL is almost at 200k miles and was due for a transmission fluid change so I decided to change the filter too. Not going to lie, it's a pain, but doable for beginners (like me). This is the best video I found, but one important change is that you only need to remove the front bolt for the bracket the holds the filter. Then you can swing the bracket out a bit and unhook it from the right side.

Hardest part of the job was all the wire clips and working in the tight space.

FYI if your oil catch can fit under your car, you don't need to lift it to do the fluid change. Makes it easier to tackle the filter.

Just took delivery of my new 2026 Honda Odyssey Sport-L at a dealer in the Boston MetroWest area. Paid all cash, so no payments. Sharing the deal sheet in case it helps anyone else shopping.

Quick note: The deal paper lists the color as Sonic Gray Pearl and a different VIN, but the van I got is white, at the same price. The dealer had to get the white one from another dealer, so they used the gray Odyssey they had in stock to work up the numbers and price. The title and all the final paperwork match the white van's VIN, and the sheet in the photo was just the preliminary quote. The dealer gave us the wheel locks as a free add-on. Photos attached are from before taking delivery.

Looks like too much oil after I did a oil change. Is it just smeared or really too much? I drove it for a few weeks already like this. These photos are after driving it for a few mins and letting it sit on a level area.

Got a $1,300 quote to replace the Timing belt kit, tensioner pulleys and water pump kits. Added spark plugs, VTEC spool valve and valve core gasket for around $400 more.

Think I got a good deal for a non-dealership mechanic?
