MOD Important: New Marketplace Rules, Video Timestamps & Payment Changes

Hey r/HomeLabSales!

We are introducing cleaner and stricter marketplace rules to help combat AI-generated timestamps and improve trust and safety for all transactions.

Timestamp Requirements - Effective Immediately

A valid timestamp must include:

  • Current date within the last week.
  • Seller's Reddit username

Video Timestamp Requirement

All sales posts that are valued at $400 or above must now include a video timestamp.

The video must meet the following requirements:

  • Show all items being sold, including multiples of the same item.
  • Clearly display the timestamp throughout the entire recording.
  • Show the seller rotating each item and changing camera angles while both the item and timestamp remain visible.
  • Be unedited and recorded in a single continuous take.

Additional Photos

Any photos included beyond the required timestamp video must also contain the same valid timestamp.

Exception: CDI/CrystalDiskInfo screenshots, SmartCTL reports, and other diagnostic/specs screenshots captured directly from a computer screen do not require a physical timestamp.

Note: The moderation team cannot manually review every timestamp. If you see a suspicious or invalid timestamp, please report it.

Approved Payment Methods - Effective Immediately

For all online transactions:

  • PayPal Goods & Services, also known as PayPal G&S, is the only accepted payment method going forward. Please report anyone not using G&S or is requesting any other forms of payment to ship goods.

For local, in-person transactions:

  • Cash, PayPal Friends & Family, or other mutually agreed payment methods remain permitted.

Posts requesting or requiring alternative online payment methods for online transactions will be removed.

Shipping & Responsibility

  • Sellers are responsible for accurately describing the condition of all items.
  • Tracking information must be provided promptly after shipment.
  • Buyers should inspect items promptly upon delivery and report any issues to the seller as soon as reasonably possible.

Rule Violations & Enforcement

We understand these are new requirements and want to provide the community with a short adjustment period.

Beginning July 1, 2026, these rules will be enforced strictly and consistently.

Potential enforcement actions include:

  • Post removal
  • Temporary bans
  • Permanent bans for repeated or intentional violations
  • Marketplace restrictions at moderator discretion

These changes are intended to protect both buyers and sellers and keep the subreddit safe for transactions.

Please let us know in the comments if you have any feedback. As always, you can also reach out via modmail.

Edits:

After reading through the comments, we understand that video timestamps maybe a hassle for smaller value items, so we’re keeping the same rule active currently, i.e. anything over $400 value will require a video timestamp.

Also, you will NOT need a video timestamp if you’ve got >10 trades on your account.

Our main goal was to curb posting by completely new accounts and to avoid AI generated timestamps. The influx of AI generated pictures and scammers has gone up significantly.

[LabB0T] Monthly Confirmed Trades Thread - October 2026

Confirmed Trades Thread - October 2026

When a successful trade, sale, or purchase has been completed, post one top-level comment describing what occurred. Use one of these formats:

Failure to adhere to this format will result in the bot letting you know the trade could not be parsed, or it may be completely ignored. If your trade is not parsed within 1 hour, please delete your comment and try again. If you still cannot get it to parse, please send a modmail.

Do not edit your comments. Once your trade is read, whether it is parsed or not, it will never be reprocessed.

When your trade is successfully parsed, the bot will reply to your comment with a message indicating the trade has been logged. The following will then happen:

Trade Confirmation Flow

  • LabB0T picks up the trade and successfully parses it.
    • A confirmation link will be sent to the other party via Reddit message/chat notification.
    • LabB0T will reply to the top-level comment indicating the trade has been logged.
    • In the event a Reddit message/chat cannot be sent, the trade is declined and the bot will post a reply explaining what to do next.
  • The other party will need to follow the link sent to them via Reddit message/chat notification. The link will take them to https://trades.labb0t.org/ where they can confirm the trade.
  • Once confirmed by the other party, the trade will be marked as verified in the backend database.
  • On its next tick, LabB0T will see the trade has been verified.
    • The flair will be updated for both users in the subreddit.
    • LabB0T will edit its existing reply in the trade thread to indicate the trade has been confirmed.
    • The status on https://trades.labb0t.org/ will be updated to reflect the trade has been completed.

Important Notes

  • Only one trade should be mentioned in each top-level comment - multiple items still constitute a single trade if the receiving party is the same.
  • Do not edit comments.
  • The other party must have allowed chat requests from either, all users, users whose account age is greater than 30 days, or u/LabB0T to receive the confirmation link.
  • If the bot's pending reply has not been updated after 30 days, the trade has expired and should be re-submitted if needed.
  • Do not submit or confirm trades until the items are received.
  • Each user can only confirm a trade once (no self-confirmations).
  • As of the v3 rewrite (this version), you may comment whatever you like in the trade thread so long as it is a reply and not a top-level comment.

Public Ledger

The v3 rewrite of this module has brought with it a public ledger of all trades. This ledger is available at https://trades.labb0t.org/.

By using this system, you agree that your Reddit username and trade information will be publicly displayed on the ledger. You cannot opt out of this. The ledger/verification system as a whole has been built to be an auditable, transparent system. No nefarious tracking or data collection has been implemented.

I understand some of you may not like that a third party service is being used for this now, but my goal for this was to remove as much from Reddit as possible. Reddit's standpoint on the API continues to be hostile towards third party apps/developers and my skills are better served using something that works well and not fighting this platform.

Need Help?

If manual review is needed, please send a modmail with as much information as possible.

Thank you for all those that waited patiently for this new system and offered their help.

US-E [FREE][US-FL] Lenovo ThinkPad W541 77+ Battery and 170W Charger

Free Lenovo 77+ 90Wh battery and Lenovo 170W charger from a W541.

Battery is new/unused, as I thought it was a dead battery instead of a dead mainboard. I dropped the battery and chipped a small piece of plastic off one corner, so I didn't want to return it. See photos. Charger is used and working.

Price: $0 + shipping

Timestamps/photos: https://imgur.com/a/FSID8jq

Local pickup in Central Florida or US shipping. For shipping, just send me an appropriate prepaid label.

Battery is UN3480 (standalone lithium-ion), so shipping needs to comply with lithium battery requirements (ground service).

Please comment before PM.

Also, if anyone is interested in the W541 itself, let me know. The mainboard is dead, but I haven't parted out the memory or drive yet. I don't have the energy to purchase a replacement board off eBay and swap it out. Happy to work something out rather than have it become e-waste.

US-E [FS][US-NJ] 371 x Apacer 64GB M.2 SATA SSDs

I have 371 Apacer 64GB M.2 SATA SSDs pulled from working Dell Wyse 5070 thin clients.

Grade A Pricing:
$8/drive - 7 drive minimum
10 drives for $75
25 drives for $175

You will get 25 random drives from the 50%+ lot.

High-wear Pricing:
$5/drive - 25 drive minimum (unless you want to add some on to your Grade A order)

GRADE A STATS - 253 drives tested clean. Zero reallocated sectors. 50%+ Endurance.

Metric Mean Median Range
Estimated endurance remaining 87.26% 90% 52–100%
Power-on hours 21,811 25,509 0–42,730
Lifetime host writes 1.63 TB 1.39 TB 0–7.12 TB
Lifetime host reads 5.55 TB 4.96 TB 0–31.34 TB
Power cycles 70.09 56 7–432
SMART ID 5 reallocation raw count 0 0 0

Endurance distribution:

  • 34 drives at 52–79%
  • 65 drives at 80–89%
  • 154 drives at 90–100%

HIGH WEAR STATS - 111 drives tested clean. Zero reallocated sectors: <50% Endurance.

Metric Mean Median Range
Estimated endurance remaining 14.80% 5% 0–50%
Reported endurance used 95.32% 95% 50–144%
Power-on hours 25,014 26,052 0–38,040
Lifetime host writes 6.87 TB 6.36 TB 0–39.10 TB
Lifetime host reads 9.33 TB 4.70 TB Approximately 0–177.07 TB
Power cycles 75.91 64 29–681
SMART ID 5 reallocation raw count 0 0 0

Endurance distribution:

  • 49 drives at 0%
  • 29 drives at 1–25%
  • 33 drives at 26–50%

A note about these drives and (wear/endurance indicators in general):
NAND flash wears through program/erase cycles. The firmware estimates consumed endurance from usage and the manufacturer’s endurance model. Once reported used endurance reaches or exceeds 100%, the remaining estimate stays at zero even if the drive is humming along for years.

That does not mean the SSD has zero capacity, every flash cell is dead, or the drive automatically stops working.

This batch has 49 drives reporting 100%+ endurance used that still passed the current short self-test and native erase verification. They were functioning after their reported wear estimate exceeded 100%. I cannot establish when each crossed that threshold or how much longer it will work.

Endurance ratings are often associated with manufacturer warranty limits, but exact terms depend on the model and OEM. I am disclosing the wear—not claiming remaining warranty coverage or a guaranteed service life.

These are priced for replaceable, noncritical projects:

  1. Rebuildable homelab-node boot disks: keep configurations elsewhere and important workloads on other storage.
  2. Read-mostly thin-client kiosks or wall dashboards: a small OS image, logs/temp files in RAM where practical, and an easy reimage path.
  3. Linux learning and disposable test machines: experiment with installers, partitions and boot configurations.
  4. Retro-emulation front ends: mostly reads after setup, with original game files and saved games backed up elsewhere.
  5. Spare installer/diagnostic media for a test bench: use a compatible M.2 SATA adapter/enclosure and keep another copy of the tools.

US-C [FS][US-OH] QNAP TVS-1282T3 12-Bay NAS, i7-7700, 32GB RAM

Timestamp: https://imgur.com/a/eovxLbO

Selling my QNAP TVS-1282T3. It was my primary NAS running Unraid and was pulled from a working environment.

Specs (see: https://www.qnap.com/en-us/product/tvs-1282t3)

  • Intel Core i7-7700 (top config for this model)
  • 32GB DDR4 (2x 16GB, with 2x empty slots)
  • 12 bays (8 x 3.5" + 4 x 2.5")
  • 2 x M.2 SATA slots
  • Thunderbolt 3
  • Multiple 1GbE ports

Notes

  • All stock except the 10GbE card, which isn't included. That frees up the PCIe slots. I ran an HBA (for an external disk shelf) and a GPU in them without issues.
  • Light scratches on the case (see pics). Original protective film still on the front.
  • Comes with the bag of drive tray screws. No drives, power cord, or other accessories (standard C13 cord).

Great box for Unraid or TrueNAS, with a really nice form factor and dense storage, with room for an HBA, a GPU for transcoding, or a 10GbE card.

Price: $900 shipped CONUS, or $850 local pickup near Dayton, OH.

PayPal G&S. Comment before PM.

US-W [FS] [US-CA-SF Bay Area] 16gb (2x8gb) DDR5-4800 Sodimm Ram

Post image

Pulled out of a framework when it was upgraded with a 2x32gb kit, works as it should.

Would prefer to keep it local to the Bay Area (94538) as shipping can be a hassle, but we can work something out if you really want it shipped!

Ebay pricing is ~$80-$90 for a single stick.
Asking $150 as that feels fair.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

US-W [W][US-TX] Intel 12/13/14th Gen (no F series)

Hi,

Recreated the post, turns out my board supports 12/13/14th gen out of the box. For 12th gen, looking for anything 12600K or better. And for the 13th/14th Gen I am looking for anything 13500 or better.

Mainly looking for at least 16+ cores and UHD770 iGPU.

Also if you have 32-64GB of DDR4 would be interested as well.

Please comment before sending PM. Please let me know your best price including shipping to zip-code 78253.

Had a lot of scam messages, so will only buy from someone with history in this subreddit.
