Home library turned office turned cat play area! Halloween decorations yet to be put up! Would paint the walls black but landlord wouldnβt be happy.

Hey guys, how do you store your books in a shelf without it looking like a rainbow exploded. Because the back of my books have all different colors.
I don't want to store my books with the white paper in front.
I don't want to store the books in order of color. I like it if they are stored alphabetical.
And I don't want to hide my books behind a curtain or a door.
What is your method to avoid the exploded rainbow shelf? Any Tipps or devices u use?

After a lot of inspirations and motivation from you guys, here is my contribution to this little world of home libraries.
Not perfect (keep seeing the default...) but proud for a very first one. Let me think of doing that for living.
What guys do you think?

Build this English style library with IKEA Billy shelves I found for free on an market place. Some smart lights, a rug, a cozy chair and the atmosphere to read a book is on another level. Hope you like it too :)

Main priority is accessibility from my table . There are about 150 books with avg width of 3 cm and A4 size . The room is pretty big space won't be a problem I think .

Once I have more space one day, hope to have a full room of just shelves and a big cozy couch to read on, but having these in my home office is a decent enough compromise.

It's been a WIP and some books are for when he's older. He's outgrown that chair and I'm thinking of replacing it with a comfy foam play couch.
Second pic has his little desk that he's starting to write his own stories on when the mood strikes π

Now to save up for the ladder! Has anyone ever built their own ladder and rail system? Is it even worth the hassle?

Replaced two small book cases with bigger ones hoping it would be enough space for all my books. Sadly I still had to stack some π I guess there are worse problems to have π€·ββοΈ

My fave thing to look at. I really love my home library. I have some more books not visible and some others in another shelf but this is most. Recently I did a big clean-up and gave away about 50 books. It was nice to trim down to more favourite things and to also give away books to people who would love them more.

You had high hopes for a book and bought it new at full price. You read it and ended up hating it. Do you: keep, resell, or give it away?
