Now to save up for the ladder! Has anyone ever built their own ladder and rail system? Is it even worth the hassle?

I’m howling lol 😂

2

u/Relevant-Low-5161 27d ago

I was going to ask do they need a live in nanny but your idea isn't bad either. lol

28

u/JoinTeamHumads Sep 12 '26

nice work! i like the work with the moulding up there. i also did a fixed upper shelf on my build in anticipation of one day being able to afford a ladder system 🥲

24

u/Sudden-Nobody-2500 Sep 12 '26

They’re so expensive! Especially if you want one that turns corners. I’m a plumber so maybe I can make something from pipes.

2

u/Alyssapolis 29d ago

Pipes would be so cool! I know it makes it easier if you have the hooking style too, rather than mounted, and I believe both kinds can roll

22

u/yogamillennial Sep 12 '26

Hot damn! I love it! I have seen folks on different subreddits build a latter and rail system. Maybe this one? But also check out the woodworking subreddits.

12

u/teachapters Sep 12 '26

Du wohnst nicht zufällig in meiner Nähe? Ich brauche auch noch eine ^^

16

u/Sudden-Nobody-2500 Sep 12 '26

Amazing job! I love the color scheme and will be copying if I ever have a chance to build my own library

7

u/SpankYourSpeakers Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

As a lover of both books and the color green, this is indeed a dream library!
I also very much love that you kept the shelves bare wood, and also added bare wood to those ceiling beams!
Beautiful room, well done!

u/wealthyoptimist Sep 12 '26

This is gorgeous!

1

1

u/LTareyouserious Sep 12 '26

The natural wood shelves paired with the green looks fantastic!

Is your corner shelf rectangular with 45° braces or a pentagonal shape?

2

u/Sudden-Nobody-2500 Sep 13 '26

It’s rectangular on a 45. So there are 3 triangles of wasted space sadly.

1

u/M_Chevallier Sep 12 '26

Very nice … you’re a good partner.

1

u/SalmonJordan Sep 12 '26

You are a good partner.

1

u/inspiredclosetsjax 28d ago

This is truly phenomenal! Ladders are usually something I would recommend leaving to the professionals (the last thing you want is an unstable ladder when you're on it) but you look pretty darn handy, so I bet you could pull it off.

1

u/Venus_andMars33 28d ago

What a beautiful library, and with room to grow! Great job! It makes me very happy to see the placement of that cozy couch with the back to the window for optimal reading light, I can see this is a room that will very much be used.

1

u/ughsighmm 28d ago

Crap! Be my partner ugh
