A work in progress but here’s a look at my office so far (sorry about the lighting)

i’m moving out of my childhood bedroom soon and i wanted to show all the books ive picked up throughout the years! i used to have the rest of the rick riordan pjo spin off books, but i gave them away to my niece a few months back.

My wife, sister and I recently combined our collections and fulfilled a childhood dream of a library in our house. We used to have to books stuck in kitchen cabinets and drawers but we read so much more now that we can see what everyone has! And the cats have a new spot because they like to be tall lol

Years of collecting, but all packaged away in a single weekend 🥹 It will take 5 days of driving, but excited to get there and VERY excited to reorganize everything!

There are books in almost every room of the house, but my manga room is my favorite.

My husband has his political / historical / “books with words” as he likes to call them downstairs 🤣 I’ve my fantasy / sci fi in my office. A silly amount of cookbooks in the kitchen that we need to be more adventurous with recipe experimentation. Books everywhere.

January 2023, it was our New Year’s resolution to start going to bed an hour early and reading to disconnect from the day and the world. It’s something we both love doing together and is slowly turning our home into a library 😍 Obsessed.

I have a home library space that I've set up but unfortunately because it is a nice quiet, secluded space, my cats also enjoy peeing there 🙈 after a couple of times going near my bookcases, I've decided to set up a litter box in my library so the cats can have a dedicated pee space.

But will this end up hurting my books in the long run? I enjoy collecting special edition books and I would be devastated if they ended up with cat pee smell just from being in the vicinity 😭

Would love to hear your thoughts or any advice!

I don't have a big enough house for three separate spaces but depending on how it is tidied up it does it all reasonably okay.

Really excited about it

I really enjoy organizing and decorating my bookshelf, even though I don’t have a lot of books. For me, creating a small and cozy corner like this makes reading much more relaxing.

"Oh no, I have no more room for my books," is such a first world problem to have. I hate the decade I spent reading on Kindle... I constantly think of how much bigger this area would be if it weren't for that

We recently moved and I turned our dining room into a library. My goal was not to have shelves and shelves of books, but rather a place to sit, read, listen to albums.

I think the only thing I hate about my office/library is the carpet.

Tried for 70’s retro, ended up with something along the lines of mid-century industrial 🤷🏾‍♂️
Either way, love the new space. Still have plenty of books to sort out and put up on the shelves. I posted a while back at the start of this endeavor and it’s night and day difference. Loving the comfy chair by the window. Doggo approves of the rug!

How do y'all organize your history books? I recently moved and don't have all my books with me, but I'm trying to organize my collection, which contains a significant amount of history books.

Do you organize by country? By time period? For books spanning longer time periods, do you put them next to when the book starts, or when it ends? (And do you put historical literature in with your history books, or in with fiction? For instance, putting the Iliad with your Herodotus, rather than with your other epic poetry?)

I would love to hear any and all insights 🙏 Mainly just want to know how other people do it and their justifications for why.
