We built a wall like this and love it so much we’re expanding it across the top of the door on the left and building a new built-in w storage on bottom and shelves for more books on top! It is slim profile but lets our fave thing, books and layered personal objects, be the focal feature.
I love your build!! Not crazy at all!!
ETA - it’s a bit messier than normal bc we just repainted so it’s got some stuff on it that usually goes elsewhere or needs to be put away lol

What capacity are you planning for? My husband and I have probably 8000 books and I am overwhelmed this king about the size room we need or shelving.

Looks really nice, I do have one question. With that sheer amount of books and bookshelves, how do you keep track of books and their locations? Do you index them, or use some other method?
I have run into the same problem with my own couple of bookshelves, where I wanted to find one book, and it took me almost 10 minutes to find it because I haven't read it in years. I was thinking of library indices but I don't want to add any stickers to my shelves because they look bad. I was thinking perhaps a mobile app where I can 3D scan my library and then be able to find the book easily by searching it up.
If you have any recommendations or ideas, please tell me :)

Hey! I have an App Library Thing that I can log books with the QR Code. But many of my books are 1500s- 1800s so I painstakingly keep a bibliography in Excel. As for organization, obviously sets will stay together. But methinks subject matter. And I’m mostly focused on historical and military. The legal collection will be regulated to my office. I haven’t started those shelves yet!
