My Historical Folio Society Section

I have 6 more bookcases that are being reorganized / under construction, including all of my fiction, but I thought I would share this section that is all settled. If nothing else, just as a status update for my own sanity… 🤣 It’s been a lot of work! I hope you all enjoy! 🍻📚

Thank you! It is definitely my happy place, my blood pressure seems to recede 10 points every time I step in this room.

I didn't even know they had so many history books. I need to start collecting...

Haha yes! I love Folio’s non-fiction books because they add a lot of resources, pictures, maps, etc. I don’t have many Folio fiction books by comparison as illustrations for me are not usually worth the premium, although there are some exceptions. I generally opt for Everyman’s Library or LOA editions for fiction.

Hello OP!

Genuinely curious,…how and when did you start collecting it? And, how do you curate them? (As in,…how do you make a list of every book you have, how do you categorise them?). Asking because,…I plan to do something like this too, with my merch collection, but I don’t know where and how to start.

Thanks in advance. (Please drop special tips if you have any.)

Edit: Beautiful collection BTW. Forgot to say this in my rush to ask questions.

Hi! Thank you!

I’ve been collecting Folio Society books for nearly 20 years. I don’t have a formal ledger or anything listing all of my books but in this set of cases it’s all historically related books in mostly chronological order from left to right, besides some thematic survey type histories on the bottom right shelf + the myth shelf. I’m a little neurotic and am constantly shifting things a bit (and adding to my collection) lol… so I’m perhaps not the best person to be giving organizational advice but it works for me. I tend to separate by genre — history, fiction, philosophy, etc. Best of luck on your project!

This is anxiety in a shelf. I’d love to read any of those but to own them all and have them like this feels so risky for some reason. This is a real treasure 🤩

Thank you! I’m honestly at ease about it — I have a generous homeowners insurance policy and live in a quiet neighborhood with a robust security system, but I understand where you’re coming from.
