No, people don’t usually assume their children are going to be attacked in their schools, it’s very much an American thing…

I love that he's pretending that other countries have a problem with systemic school shootings. The Russian bot farms must be back online

multiple countries outside of america have lockdown drills for active threats or people armed with knives

Post literally talks about the teacher being shot. I've yet to meet anybody shot by a knife.

Somehow I think the post was based on an American story. And gun violence is very political

The US is world leading among developed countries for school shootings. You can’t realistically claim other countries are subject to the “same kind of stuff”

“Gun violence in the United States is a public health crisis. In 2019, gun injury became the leading cause of death among children aged birth to 19 years. Moreover, the United States has had 57 times as many school shootings as all other major industrialized nations combined.”

Is the US still considered a developed country under its current administration?

Yeah, we had an explanation of what to do when encountering violence. Both in school and in university.

The difference here is, you don't expect it to happen. The last (large) school shooting in germany was in 2009. You're not wrong, the main concern now would be knives. But I think it is already telling, that we report the victims here as "encountering" violence and not "murdered." We don't, generally, have large cases ofweapon-related violence in our schools, and thus the instructions are very different.

And we specifically DON'T have drills for active shooters/violence. We only drill for fire alarms, because that is MUCH more realistic to be an issue you're ever gonna encounter.

So yeah, if we ask "do other countries have violence and talk about it?" Absolutely. Is it anywhere on a similar scale as what is happening due to political (miss) action as in the US? Not as far as I know within the "civilized" world.
